If only I had known what they were capable of...
If only I kept my mouth shut and never talked to him... I wouldn't be hiding for my life.
My name is Olivia Marie Thompson. My mother and father wanted me to have a respectable name that would hold up in 'any industry'. As long as the industry I ended up with was law. My parents pushed me to become a lawyer just like them. They were the best in their career, but I ended up taking a completely different route than they had planned. My parents continually argue which side of the family I got 'this idea' of being a designer. Always joking but it never felt that way. It always felt as though i had done something wrong. They almost died when I told them I was going to art school in New York rather than Yale or Harvard. Eventually i just told myself that I needed to follow what I wanted to do not what they forced on to me; and as soon as I did I felt happier than ever and felt as though I was finally embracing my own self.
College was great. I made a lot of friends and plenty of future colleagues in the process. I even met that man of my dreams, Derrick Sims. He's a 5'9 blond hair, blue eyed beauty.
We meet at a party celebrating the 50th anniversary of our college and to celebrate the sucess of the medical and business courses and degrees. Of course my parents begged me to take them saying, "oh come on honey it could be great you can take business courses during the majority of your day then take your art classes as a 'special' elective, so you can understand the 'little people'." "mom, I am the little guy your just going to have to deal with that ok." "But honey we just worry about you, especially with you being in such a ..." she thought carefully "...marginally well school" " mom this school is great. I am learning so much here and we are actually celebrating 50 years tonight, the school is throwing a party" "A party?! Shouldn't you be finishing your homework or studying?" "I finished that an hour ago mom remember, we are two hours ahead of you" I chuckled "besides i'm going to be graduating in about a months time. So we aren't getting as much homework as before, now it's mostly Portfolio stuff" "yes but isn't it too late to be going out, it's already 9? You have school in the morning." "goodbye mom, I love you" "I love you too, but do..." I hung up before she could even nag to me on going to this party tonight.
My whole dorm was booming with excitement with the party quickly approaching. Me and my roomate practically ran to the party so fast that we almost ran over a security guard and a science teacher on our way. "Sorry" I said, "it's okay" said the man in a pinstriped bespoke suit. He smiled at me in a way that made my insides jump. "You must be the new science teacher right?" "I am,names Derrick … Derrick Sims". Putting his hand out to shake hands. I shook his hand and instantly felt as I was on fire. "Welcome … Derrick". "Hey Olivia we should get going everyone's waiting for us" said my roomate "Oh right… nice meeting you Derrick". "He was hot don't you think?" said my roomate. Oh yes he was.
We say each other again first at graduation "Since you're no longer a student, want to get a drink some time?". My heart was pounding out of my chest and I don't even know how I managed to say, "Sure how about tonight at 8?" "great i'll see you then".
After that it was like all the pieces fit into place. That is until three years later. "I can't believe you!" that was all he had to say. We had been having one of our exaggerated fights that always ended with amazing makeup sex but this time was different."Dame it i'm done!" "what are you talking about Derrick?!" "I can't keep covering for you to your parents, you have to tell them!" "when it comes to my career it has nothing to do with my parents!!" "yeah well maybe you should have listened to them about going to college to be a lawyer!" "seriously you're going to bring that up!" "yeah of course I am and you know what?! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!" "WHAT! Your kicking me out.. I have nowhere to go!" "yes you do, CALL YOUR PARENTS!".
After that I was stuck, living with my parents under the understanding that I had to either find a job in my field in 6 months or i would be forced to go back to college and do the degree that was 'agreed' upon.
Soon my life began to change 1 month into confinement with my parents I found the Suzie Sisters and they changes my life for forever.
