Chapter 4 - Chapter III: The Feast of the Eagles

Lights with the likeness of the stars were strung up in the Hall of the Wood. Soft elven voices resonated in the space as guests mingled with one another. Most of the people present were elves, but there were some humans who were living in the forest in attendance as well.

For once, Lernael had let her hair be braided up in a traditional elvish do, wearing a gown the colour of the foliage in the Wood. She was holding a glass of miruvor, elvish wine. Her foot tapped impatiently against the polished floor as she waited for her partner.

A hand laid on Lernael's shoulder, causing her to jump slightly. She turned around, seeing James dressed in forest green robes. "Shall we?" he spoke, nodding his head toward her as a silent apology for being late. Lernael replied, " Sure!"

Elliot stood at the foot of the stairs, waiting for his partner for the night to arrive. Soft footsteps sounded behind him, and Helena walked up to him.

" Hello, mellon nin."

Elliot held out his arm, and Helena took it. The two elves walked around the room, admiring the scenery outside on the balcony, seeing the night stars adorning the night sky.

" Seeing this actually makes me miss him…" Helena said suddenly. "Who?" Elliot questioned, curious.

"Thunderhorn. We used to run to the garden to see the stars at night. Sometimes, we would forget to leave and would actually fall asleep under the eyes of our future. I miss those days… and I miss Thunderhorn. However, I do not have the means currently to reverse the spell. That will require a complicated potion at which I have failed time and time again to make…"

Elliot remembered the golden-haired elf and mentally facepalmed. "My lady, why dwell on matters of the past when you have to focus on the future?"

Helena remained silent.

------------

Soft music was heard as the elves played their instruments. Elliot extended his arm, asking, "May I have this dance, hiril nin?" Helena gave a faint smile and nodded.

Her blue gown fluttered in the breeze and the hems of Elliot's grey robes lifted slightly as he took her waist in one hand and held her right hand in his other. Helena's left hand rested on Elliot's shoulder as the two swayed. Soon, more of the elves joined them in dancing. She could even spot Lernael and James waltzing.

However, their short moment was disrupted by a horn, blowing deep. "That's the warning horn of the Wood. We've got to go!" Helena exclaimed. She released herself from Elliot's hands and tore towards Lernael, saying something in rushed Sindarin. Lernael gasped, and the two ran out of the room. Elliot walked to James, looking at him in confusion. James shrugged and called out, " People of the Golden Wood, please remain calm and do not panic, the situation is being attended to. I am James of the Falcons, and I'll be here if you require help!"
