Chapter 4 - The meeting

Officer Douglas was just in time to see a haphazardly dressed man pointing a gun point blank at a boy of roughly nine years of age. But what caught his eye the most was a man and a woman who lay prostate in a pool of blood in front of the boy. Assessing the situation, officer Douglas ordered the man to put down the weapon whilst also drawing his own gun to the man. Shaken, the man turned the gun to him but suddenly a masked figure swooped in from the rooftops and kicked the poorly dressed man into the wall. Officer Douglas was taken aback, he hadn't expected to meet the vigilante so soon. However, his shock was short lived because he realized he had to take him in. Jason, upon seeing that the new guy had not put back his gun into its holster, had a feeling that he was in trouble. Most probably that guy was a cop and although he had not heard about the shoot on sight order, he knew that he had to avoid any interaction with cops. As an act of seeming surrender, he put his hands up and thought of a strategy to defuse the situation. Although there were two new people in the fray, the young boy had not yet noticed them. His eyes were fixated on the corpses on what seemed to be his mother and father. Jason had to use that to his advantage. With one quick fluid movement he had learned in aerobics class, Jason was behind the boy. That prompted officer Douglas to lower his gun. Seeing the window of opportunity, Jason shot his grappling hook and he was out of the alley. Officer Douglas cursed himself for not anticipating the vigilante's movements and made a mental note to do that in their next encounter. Once he was back to reality, he realized he had to take the man to the police station for questioning. Using the hand cuffs he had on him at all times, he hand-cuffed the man and took a good look at his gun. Surprisingly, it was silenced therefore nobody would have heard the gunshot. Surely there had to be some brains behind that murder and he took it upon himself to find out who. He then called the hotline number for the paramedics and police for clean up and then focused on the young boy. All that time the boy's eyes had never left the dead bodies of the couple on the ground. It was kind of unnerving but Officer Douglas understood since it wasn't the first time he had seen a murder involving loved ones. However, there was something different about the situation. He took a good look at the boy and his eyes widened in surprised. It was none other than the only child of upcoming millionaires, Kyle Jaquelin. That meant that the two corpses were the millionaires themselves, Jonathan and Jennifer Jaquelin. Now Douglas was cock-sure there was some hidden motive behind the murder. However the adrenalin pumping in his veins was diminishing so he was tired once again.
