After making sure Iris was gone, Leon prepared to face the rebels before him. The two members of the free insurgent before him attacked simultaneously.
Leon nimbly parried their sword attacks. For a few moments there was the sound of clashing swords but finally Leon managed to stab his sword into one of them. The man screamed in pain while holding his leg.
Leon dueled the rest and it didn't take him long to beat him.
Bang!
Leon had not had time to take a breath when suddenly a gunshot was heard towards him. The shot grazed his shoulder and wounded him slightly.
"Ugh!"
Leon held his shoulder which was bleeding freshly.
"Don't move, Duke Greyson or my shot will miss and will injure you even more."
A rifle-man moved closer to him while pointing his weapon.
The rifle-man signaled to his men.
"Chase and catch the girl."
Leon looked down at his sword that was lying nearby. His hand was trying to slowly reach it.
Bang!
A bullet was fired near his hand.
"Don't even try Duke Greyson! Hands behind head!"
This time the rifle-man pointed his weapon at Leon's head and ordered Leon to walk downstairs.
Leon slowly descended the stairs. There were several corpses of his servants lying. Leon stared furiously. He looked around again trying to find someone's face.
But Leon did not see Isabel's face.
There were four people on the ground floor and three on the top floor.
A beautiful woman wearing a hood suddenly appeared out of nowhere and approached the rifle-man. They seemed to be having a serious conversation. Leon tried to pay attention to them.
"Where is she? I feel his presence."
"The others are after her. Said she was seen running towards the attic."
"Good. Make sure she doesn't escape."
"What about him?", the rifle-man glanced at Leon.
The hoody woman called out to one of her men and whispered.
DUK!
One of the members of The Free Insurgents who was watching Leon hit him.
"What are you looking at?!"
Leon wiped the blood coming out of his mouth.
"What is this? They're after Iris? Why are they after her?", Leon muttered to himself.
When Leon was about to take another look at them, the rifle-man and the beautiful hood-woman has disappeared somewhere.
Leon struggled to endure the pain in his shoulder. His shoulders felt like they were starting to cramp.
One of the members of the free insurgent stood before Leon and suddenly punched him hard.
"Our leader has already given the order. It's up to us what to do with him. Let's torture this rich kid first before killing him."
The other members of The Free Insurgent immediately kicked Leon's stomach. Leon tried to endure the pain and got up. He was already exhausted and in front of him stood four people who were preparing to attack him. With the last of his strength, he tried to face them with his bare hands.
One of them attacked again with a sword and hit Leon's leg. Leon screamed while trying to punch back but in vain.
The other two members held Leon's arm and let the others hitting Leon. Leon fell down with a bruised face.
"I think that's enough. Farewell, My lord-"
One of them stood above Leon and prepared to thrust his sword.
JREP!
The man who was about to stab Leon suddenly grabbed his own neck. Blood was seen pouring down. A knife stuck in his neck. His sword slipped from his hand and fell right beside Leon. Leon immediately took his sword and swung it at the person beside him until both of his hands were cut off. The man who had just been attacked by Leon screamed and fell down in agony
The others shouted while about to attack Leon. Leon rolled to the side and used the corpse as a shield.
From the darkness, Isabel appeared and stabbed the remaining two people with her rapier swiftly.
The three others above rushed down to help. Isabel threw one of the knives back and it hit the head of one of them.
Isabel flipped quickly behind them and stabbed one of them.
Not accepting, the only remaining attacked Isabel.
Isabel parried his attack.
As Isabel prepared to face him, Leon stabbed the man in the back.
Leon fell to his knees after that. Isabel sighed at him.
"Do not move. Take off your clothes."
Isabel tore off the coat she was wearing then crouched down to bandage Leon's shoulder and leg wounds.
"This is all I can do, My Lord. Don't move too much."
"Thanks. Is Iris with you?"
"I'm also looking for her too."
Leon's face looked somber when he heard Isabel's words.
"I told her to run first when we were being chased. She ran toward the attic."
Isabel got up.
"Go to the library. I ordered those who survived to hide there. Say the red lion as password to get them to open the door."
Leon stopped Isabel with his hand.
"I'm coming with you to find Iris."
Isabel shook off Leon's hand.
"Forgive me. But I must refuse your request, My Lord. You are not in the capacity to be of assistance, instead it will burden me later."
Leon ignored Isabel's words and tried to get up. With a limp he passed Isabel.
"I'll give you directions to the attic so it's quicker. You don't have to wait for me to walk."
Isabel sighed.
"So, in which direction now?"
