After a few rounds of games, Alycia could feel the familiar tiredness creeping back into her body. She decided to stop and rest for the night. Maybe she would go home and plan a long holiday trip next week. She had never tried business class on an airplane before. This would be the chance to do it. Actually, she decided she would just book the suites class tickets. She had lots of money anyway.
Technically, she could magic enough money to purchase a small private jet, but she came to the conclusion that it would attract way too much attention. Not to mention it might be more troublesome to maintain the plane regularly and hiring private pilots for it. It would be much easier to buy a plane ticket.
She begun the slow walk home, unaware that the man sitting in the corner of the LAN shop just now had stood up and was now following her at a distance. Alycia navigated her way through the deserted park that was on her way home, lost in thought. She almost screamed when she felt a hand on her shoulder.
'Wh.. what?!' Alycia let out a little yelp and turned around, startled. 'Yes?' She questioned the middle aged man standing in front of her.
'Oh sorry! I didn't mean to scare you. Sorry sorry!' The man said, clearly as startled as her.
Alycia began to breath a little shen she saw the man was also shocked by her reaction as she was of his actions.
'I am sorry. My name is Pete. I have something I want to talk to you about.' The man said, with a nervous look in his eyes.
Pete did not know how to raise this topic, that was why he was nervous. The lady in front of him did not seem freaked out by her own ability unlike the rest of the people in his organisation when he first approached them. In fact, she seemed she had handled it pretty well by herself.
He could see why the lady was freaked out by him. He had planned on talking to her at some place that was not too crowded, in case things escalate. There was no guarantee that a user would be able to control their ability at an early stage. He realised all he managed to do was sneak up on her in a deserted area and scaring her out of her wits.
During the hours Alycia had been using her ability on the game, Pete had finally been able to track her down as there was enough time. He had tracked her to the small LAN shop in the neighbourhood where he had sensed her ability being used a few days ago. He had then sat inside the shop at a corner watching her play games. It seems like her ability was something to do with electronics but he could not figure out how was her ability Immortal Grade when all it could do was manipulate computer games. There must be something more to it.
The lady was now looking at him with a cautious and confused look in her eyes, totally unlike Trina, Wilson and Jasper when he first approached them. They all had scared and lost looks and were looking for answers.
'About?' Alycia asked. She was ready to fight if this man wanted to rob her or do anything bad. Not that she could win, but there was always a chance she could make him back off.
'Uh, I don't know how to bring this up but do you by any chance had something weird happening to you the past few days?' Pete asked. 'Like maybe something out of the ordinary that cannot be explained?'
'I don't know what you mean but nothing of that sort happened.' Alycia replied cautiously.
'Are you sure? What about whatever you were doing to the computer in that LAN shop back there?
'Do you mean my game? I was just playing my game that's all. Is there anything wrong?' Alycia said, defensively. She was being very careful right now and she could be nasty if she needed to.
Had he found out about her ability? Or was he just a stranger who happened to notice her cheating in the game and wanted to confront her about it? If it was the second case, she was prepared to be very nasty. It was after all none of his business if she cheated in game or not.
'Alright, I will just say this directly. You have an ability right? And it's something to do with computers.' Pete said. 'Don't be afraid. I am here to offer the help you need. I am sure you have lots of questions.'
Alycia tried her very best to maintain a confused expression. So there had really been someone who knew what she had been doing all along! Did he know everything? How much did he know? And most importantly, how did he know? She suddenly felt a chill down her spine. This ability of hers had to be kept as secret as possible. She did not want to be someone's kab rat. He could be a government agent for all she knew. Right now, she needed to get away from this man and figure out how he had managed to track her down.
'No. Now i really don't know what you are talking about.' Alycia said, quickly turning away and walking away from the man. 'And stay away from me!' With that, Alycia sprinted all the way home.
Back at the park, Pete was still standing at the same spot. After mentioning her ability to the lady and judging by the look on her face, he was sure that she knew very well what he was talking about. He did not have a chance to stop her sprinting off though. Maybe she just needed more time. Also, maybe the sneaky approach in a lonely park at night was not the best idea. Pete also realised he did not even introduce himself to her. He would just have to continue hanging out in the area to approach her again. Now that he knew what she looked like, it might be easier to find her again without the need for her to use her ability.
