Specialists POV-
They were almost done with this mission, and they only needed to finish off this last cult base. They had dealt with this type of stuff before, and it, as always, disgusted them to the core that people would do this. They called themselves Blanks, as they had no real team name. It was better that way, as it made it a lot harder to anger a nation when they dealt with it's problems. How do you go against a group that doesn't exist?
They had been formed because of a meeting of the larger countries. They had needed a group independent from each of them, so that they could deal with people like terrorists, cultists, and other organized crime organizations, that could use their influence to change the minds of the people. As any government would, they didn't want the pain of doing something good against the people's will.
Their largest problem was that the organizations pretended to be innocent, while doing heinous things like murder, R***, and torture. They used this false image of themselves as a defense, blaming the government when they got caught and turning the peoples' eyes away from them, and towards the government. So they came up with this solution. A team of specialists from around the world, taking care of things they can't, while being completely separate from any organization.
To better use the team, they were banned from having a team name, and would always be anonymous. So, they called themselves blanks. The team consisted of 6 members, all of them having been taught everything they could learn, and trained in everyway imaginable.
Now, back to the present. the team crept up the hill, not leaving any clues of their positions. Their leader, codenamed BLANK-01, signaled them, and they broke out of hiding, each pairing up at a door, and making their way in.they swept through the building, surprised to find noone there. But one of them quickly found a hidden entrance behind a stairway, that would have been invisible if it were not for the barely visible rectangular crack.
Grouping up they moved down. This was more what they were expecting, with the musty air, the dry, occasionally bloodstained walls, and the hevy smell of iron that permeated the area. It would be horrifying, if not for their experiences of worse places, where it had felt like any moment they would be dead, in pitch black, with a heavy mist blocking their flashlights and night vision.
Compared to that place, this one could be described as a childish heaven. But it was still unnerving, the bloodstains, the occasional creak that echoed up the way, and the slight sound of chanting, in tones that would send shivers up the spines of any normal person. They knew the worst was yet to come, as they had not heard the dying screams of civilians from down the hallway.
As they made their way down the hallway, they found a door, that had been marked with blood covered words. The team stopped their and took a moment to read the words. In Ancient Greek, it stated, "The Wolf of the End". The team looked at each other for a moment, and then BLANK-03 opened the door carefully after having checked for any traps that would trigger. He put his gun through the small crack that the opened door and the wall formed, and looked through.
In the room was a large cage, with a sleeping white furred, giant wolf. On the walls were ornate candles, lit with a dark red flame, and a sacrificial dagger hanging on a hook from the wall. The floor was decorated with a singular round rune, that went around and under the cage. Seeing the room was clear of hostiles he signaled BLANK -05 and -02 to enter with him. the others guarded the hallway, with laser sights pointed down the corridor, where another room was visble, with the door closed.
While inspecting the room, BLANK-05 found an inscription on the cage. He read it aloud, through his mic, to his members. He said, " I found an inscription, it reads, 'When I awaken, The End Is Nigh.'" BLANK-01 retorted back, "Just some Cultist mumbo jumbo, ignore it." The Beast stirred slightly in his cage, but wasn't awake. The Squad exited the room, and made their way to the end of the hallway. Repeating the entrance technique, he saw a group of people about to sacrifice a gagged man.
One of the cultists announced something. "Let the screams of this man reach Alseiass, The Breaker Of Worlds, so that we may be enlisted to his side, to CONQUER THE MULTIVERSE!" with these words he got rid of the sacrifices gag, but the man remained silent, likely unconcious. The Squad burst through the door and quickly slew every one of the cultists quietly, with a silenced shot in the heart to each of them. The Cultists didn't even have time to scream, or give warning to the people in the room behind them. They regagged the man, the woke him up.
The man was terrified, but quickly found that he was untied. After being warned to remain silent, he was allowed to take the gag off. He sat there and watched, as the group repeated the procedure for the final room. They entered to find that the leader of the organization had committed suicide, with a burnt message to his false god in his hand. Confirming that he was truly dead, and that there were no more rooms, they left.
While going past the wolf room, they heard a noise, and decided to check the room again. They entered to find the wolf was awake, with ancient eyes peering at them in curiosity, while it stood up to sit on it's haunches. After doing so it remained strangely still, and stared at them as if waiting for something. It seemed almost intelligent, with it's quiet gaze and still form. Soon, it spoke, surprising them.
It said, "It looks like this one is unlucky. With no magical advancement, this will be harder than ever. Looks like I will fail again". It sighed, a sound that seemed to bear the weight of thousands of worlds. The team was taken aback by this strange being, and immediately aimed there weapons at it, taking off their suppressors, so that the bullet would be less restrained. They were cautious, as anyone would be if they saw an animal talk.
It looked at each of them, then asked, "what is that thing you are pointing at me? With this worlds level of magic, projectile, strengthening, and similar magic should be impossible. Also, are you mute or something?" It sighed again then looked away. BLANK-01 spoke, "What are you? And how can an animal like you speak?" It stared at him, as if in surprise.
"You mean you don't know what I am? That is a problem. Well, I am Arcan, the Failed Guardian of Worlds. As to how I can speak, I am using magic. Which, with the question you asked me, I can see you are unaware of. Throughout all the worlds I have been, there has never been one devoid of the knowledge of magic. And nor have I encountered one that doesn't even practice it's use." The beast, now identified as Arcan, sighed again, even deeper than he did before.
BLANK-02 spoke this time. "What do you mean 'failed guardian of worlds'?" Arcan spoke, in a tone that carried a heavy sadness. "I am an Omniversal Being, albeit unwillingly. My self given duty is to protect the worlds I am sent to, and me having woken up in a world always bring great danger. I have failed every time, and I would rather not speak of the worlds I lost to the END. But know this. This realm is in great danger, and my purpose here, is to try to save this one."
BLANK-01 said, "So you are a failed guardian, and you are here to protect us now. not very reassuring." Arcan replied, "Actually, I can be considered quite powerful. from what little I know of this world, I would be able to destroy it easily. But it has never been enough to save any of the worlds I have been." He looked down at this statement, appearing to be disappointed in himself.
He spoke again, this time with a determined look on his face, "I am not letting it happen again, even if this is the 5,744th time. Also, could you open this cage, while I am capable of breaking it, it's properties are already built up because of my presence, and I would rather not waste a single resource."
One of the Squad members opened the cage, and let him out, although they still had their weapons trained on him. Arcan exited the cage and strecthed, the transformed into a humanoid being, but still had the same ears and tail. Clothes appeared on him, that appeared like a fantasy adventurers garb, with a pure white cloak around his neck. He was about 6 feet tall, with a slim, but strong looking build. His hair was white, and his eyes' Irises appeared to be made of the omniverse. His skin was almost the same color as his hair, with patches of fur where his linbs and head connected to his body.
He stood up completely straight and then stretched for a second, getting rid of aches across his body from sleeping for millenia. He looked at the rest of the team and said, "So what are your names, and I don't mean the insignia on that strange armor of yours."
They announced their names, in the order of their numbers starting with BLANK-01. "Ordan Keist", "Drake Altan", "Scerian Octavius", "Alex McTrevor", "Orion Davarr", and "Jordan Cralt".
