Judging from the way he repeated the word, I deduced that it was a name but I couldn't communicate with him due to the language barrier. I looked at him one last time and went back in, leaving them to their fate while I went back to plan my next mission.
I woke up the next day when Callie called me with new information. A group of four individuals were seen fighting against an Irregular that managed to hold an entire building hostage. "It isn't surprising" I said "If there are four Irregulars against one, they'd be able to split the work among themselves, making it easier. It's common sense."
"Could you let me finish?" She asked "I wouldn't be talking about this if one of them didn't look exactly like Casey! Another one even looked exactly like me while the other two looked like 'them'."
"Them?" I asked to which she answered "Yes, The other two looked like the Sisters of Light."
The Sisters of Light were twins that were also Irregulars. They had the ability to combine and affect their combat abilities while in their separated form, they were only stronger and faster than the average Irregular. This had led people to believe that they were only able to enhance their physical abilities, leading to a gruesome death.
I hadn't paid much attention to the other girls that followed the Lookalike so after I saw that they looked like people that followed Casey on missions, I had forgotten about them, thinking them to be small fries until Callie said that. "That isn't even the scariest part." Callie said "The guy also used the Words of Reality."
I was shocked. The Words of Reality is an ability that is normally used by Progenitors, the strongest Irregulars to ever exist. By virtue of being beings that transcend human limitations, they cannot really be killed as they would be reborn the moment they are confirmed dead.
"You mean to say the guy is a Progenitor?"
"I can't say for sure."
"Tch. Then please try to keep an eye on them. I need to know what or who their objective is. I can't stop thinking that there's more than meets the eyes when it comes to this group." I answered.
Barely a week after she started keeping an eye on them, I received another call from Callie. "They seem to have gotten into another fight, this time with Casey." was all I needed to hear.
I rushed out even before I asked their location. When I got to the location, I saw all four of them facing off against Casey, who looked at them and smiled, speaking to them in the same strange language that they used.
"That's not Casey!" I said and Callie retorted "How would I know?! And what are they saying?!" but there was no one to give her an answer. At this point, I focused on their conversation and I realized something. Somehow, I was starting to get the general gist of their conversation.
They kept saying something about revenge and reaching the Origin. "The Origin?" I asked, finding it hard to believe. At that, one of the Casey lookalikes, the one that seemed to be alone looked at me and said, in my language "I didn't think I'd meet someone decent in English here."
"English? What do you mean?" I asked him.
"Oh? You mean to tell me that you don't understand this language? Then how..... I see, you have 'that' ability." He answered me.
"What ability-" I was about to ask when he said "You can learn anything as far as you can get the underlying principles, am I mistaken?" I was surprised that not only could he guess my ability, he also seemed to possess extensive knowledge of the ability.
I turned to look at the other four that seemed to be out of it. The other lookalike stared at me with a look that felt like he was looking at his sister while he spoke to his people. While he spoke to them, another group came towards us, led by a burly man who stopped right before the pale skinned guy and said to him "It is my pleasure to welcome you back, Lord Progenitor. The Third Lord sent me to you, saying that you were The Seventh Progenitor."
"You mean to tell me that knowing I am a Progenitor, you still can't accord me the respect I deserve?" The Pale Skinned Casey looked at him, anger flashing in his eyes. At that point, the other guy and his crew attacked the Progenitor. He laughed as he blocked their attacks while looking meaningfully at the person who had come to get him.
The man seemed to understand the message carried by his gaze as he deployed his group to attack the group of four. They advanced, rushing to attack the position where they once we're when all of a sudden, they stopped and the whole formation fell into chaos.
The one at the rightmost suddenly lunged at the guy in the center while the one in front turned to the one behind him. They kept going at each other's throats while the four casually walked out of the encirclement.
He stopped right in front of me, looked me for a few seconds before he ran away. Telling Callie to keep an eye on the Progenitor's group, I followed them and left the area.
They were fast in their movements, easily maneuvering their way around. They would easily lose any other person tracking them but not me. After following them for some hours, I saw them enter an ice castle in the middle of nowhere and the surprising thing is that they left the door open. It seemed that they weren't afraid of anybody coming in so I decided to go in.
I was to realize my mistake when the door closed upon my entry. Tried as hard as I could, I couldn't budge the door. At this point, I was panicking, sweating furiously despite the fact that I was holding the door that was ice cold.
The Casey lookalike came forward, looking at me and asked something I couldn't quite make out due to my inability to understand his language. When I spoke, he seemed to realize something. He closed his eyes for a few minutes, when he opened, he asked, albeit roughly, in my own language "Why have you been tracking us?"
