Chereads / PROVIDENCE: NEW WORLD / Chapter 11 - Hideout

Chapter 11 - Hideout

"No... No,I won't let that happen." He shook his head and said. "And that is why it is very essential of you to defeat him. Xersius is merciless and will stop at nothing to get his selfish desires."

"I'll make sure he doesn't succeed in destroying the world."

"That is good to hear, now do you promise to train and learn to fight evil at all costs?" She asked.

"Yes." He answered solemnly. "Do you take me from today onwards as your teacher?" She asked again and he answered in the affirmative.

"Now,we must begin immediately because as I have said previously, we are short of time." She said and he nodded.

"But first, I have to inform my buddy, Brooke. He's my best friend and he knows about my powers."Jeremy relayed and she agreed.

" Meet me here tomorrow. By that time, I will have come up with a place of training. "She began but he interrupted.

" You mean like a hideout?"He questioned and she looked at him puzzled.

"Whatever you choose to call it,I am sure you get the idea." She said and he agreed. She walked out and soon disappeared as quickly as she came.

Jeremy felt dazed,he wondered if everything was actually happening. He knew that the path ahead from here on out was not going to be easy.

He braced himself for whatever was to come and super sped outside. The rain had still and the dark clouds were retreating. Could that be a good sign? He really couldn't tell.

He also noticed that it was getting dark and finally had the initiative to look at his watch. He realized how late it had become and hadn't even noticed how the time flew so fast, his mum must be worried sick.

He looked around and after ascertaining that no one was around to see him,he super sped home.

Jeremy called Brooke and explained to him. Brooke's voice over the phone sounded cracked, like he had been crying but the ever sassy nerd was not ready to admit that he was deeply hurt about Dr Ashton's death.

He had acted aloof during the funeral and didn't say much or even shed a tear, maybe that was just his own way of dealing with grief.

Having been through so many weird situations in the past few weeks, Brooke was ready to believe that anything was possible, even the existence of aliens and so, had no reason to doubt Jeremy.

He just didn't have enough strength to properly react to the whole situation.

Jeremy and Brooke skipped school the next day, they were too overwhelmed to be in the crowded halls.

They just helped with what they could before meeting up at where Kessina had requested.

They both waited for nearly and hour but saw no one, they were ready to retreat when a quick tap almost scared them out of their wits as they turned back swiftly to see the alien right behind them.

"Holy shit! You gotta stop doing that. Are you here to help me or give us a hear attack." Jeremy was cross by her method of approach.

"I am sorry if I scared you by any chance, I am still learning about your ways and found out recently that humans like surprises." Kessina said innocently and Jeremy couldn't hold it against her.

"It's alright. We like good surprises like birthdays, marriage proposals and the rest. Sneaking up on someone isn't surprising them, you'll only give them a fright. Especially when you look like this

By the way, you're late." Jeremy said while Brooke just stared on,speechless.

"Sorry again for scaring you and arriving late. You should know it is hard to secure a place when you look different from the humans. I had to put on something called a disguise so as to be able to associate with the other humans and somehow, they still seemed suspicious. Some people even deliberately ignored me." Kessina explained and Jeremy had to prevent himself from laughing.

Of course they would be suspicious, the way she spoke and sometimes acted was direct pointer to something fishy, they probably just thought she was crazy or just trying to be funny.

"This is my friend, Brooke. He's the one I was talking about." Jeremy introduced, instantly changing the topic.

"Hi." Brooke said, trying to be nice and stretched out his hand but the alien looked at it weirdly and just bowed slightly, touching both of her shoulders before saying. "I am princess Kessina of the planet Xanton and it is nice to meet you,Brooke."

Brooke just withdrew his hand awkwardly and stared at Jeremy. "Did I do something wrong, sorry if I did. I am still learning your ways of greeting and introduction." She said and Jeremy nodded.

"No,it's fine. Back to the main topic, where's the new hideout?" Jeremy asked and she simply held his and Brooke's hand before teleporting there.

"Wow...." Brooke marveled as he scanned the place. The place was huge but well equipped with chairs and a huge work table where a laptop sat. They also saw a big monitor for tracking someone down through a tracking device was connected to the wall. On the far side of the room was training equipments mainly for physical fitness.

The right side of the place was like a small snack bar with a fridge loaded with stuff, some utensils and a counter.

And finally, not too far from the laptop was a couch with a small table.

"Is it OK? I do not know if I am missing something?" He asked but Brooke answered instead.

"You're on point, Kessina. This place is awesome, I could basically live here. Everything's great except that it think some things need a little rearrangement. It's great all the same, you did a pretty good job for someone new to earth." Brooke complimented, still pleasantly surprised and Kessina blushed slightly.

"If you think that is great, wait until you see the view. It is absolutely stupefying." Kessina said and teleported them outside. Only then did they realize it was a tower, in the middle of a lake and quite far from town.

"Where'd you get such a place? It's just too good to be true." Brooke marveled but Jeremy couldn't appreciate the scenery or anything inside right now, only one question continued to tug at his mind and he would not be at ease until he found out.

"What up with the teleportation? I thought you said you lost your powers?" He asked suddenly.
