Lane watches as Guy falls face down on the ground. Without hesitation, she jumps up and runs onto the battlefield.
Lieutenant 1 spots Lane running up behind Captain.
"Sir behind you!" he shouts.
Captain spots Lane in his side view. He turns and swings his sword at Lane, but in that split second Lane drops down to help Guy.
Captain stands with his sword extended, he looks down at Lane confused.
Lane lifts Guy's head off the ground, "Guy wake up!"
Lane sees the blood coming out of Guys back so she pulls out her book and begins healing him.
Captain lowers his sword and stands over Lane, "what are you doing?"
"Don't worry Guy I'll heal you," Lane says as she ignores Captain.
"You've been hiding this whole time, you could have escaped," says Captain.
Lane gets angry, "he's my friend!"
"You've put yourself in danger for him? Even if you can heal him he can't fight," says Captain.
Lane is sweating as she slowly uses all her energy to close Guy's wound.
"You'll both be killed," Captain explains calmly.
Lane turns her head to confront Captain, "I can't leave him here to die!" She turns around to Guy and begins to cry, "even if it cost me my life because he risked his for all of us."
Captain sighs, "I can't begin to understand you humans."

Lane's magic flickers out, she has pushed herself to the limit and successfully stopped Guy's bleeding.
Captain raises his sword and Lane rolls Guy over to hold him before they die.
"Thank you for saving my people," she whispers as she closes her eyes.
Captain is about to cut them down, but then he stops.
Suddenly Lane feels something wet and cold touching her cheek. She opens her eyes to see a dog poking her with its nose.
It's a wolf-dog with multiple magic symbols burnt into its chest.
"Where did you come from?" Lane asks.
Captain is confused and not sure what to do as the dog starts licking Lane's face.
From up on the tree top Lieutenant 1 sees a large man walking up behind Captain.
"Sir there is another human!" Lieutenant 1 shouts.
Captain turns around, it is the stranger who helped Lane against Lieutenant 3.
The man looks friendly, and not worried at all. He is built like a lumberjack with a full beard to match.
Lane and Captain watch as the stranger walks past Captain and around to Lane.
"It's you again," says Lane.
Suddenly Lane sees a shadow come over her. The dog's magic symbols are glowing and it has started to grow in size.
"What is it doing?" she shouts.
Captain looks at the dog and then back to the stranger, and raises his sword.
The stranger looks at Lane, "give me one second."
Captain tries to slash the man, but the stranger quickly pulls out a massive sheathed sword and slams it into Captain's ribs.
The force of the hit knocked the breath out of Captain and launches him across the battleground into the tree that Lieutenant 1 is standing on. The tree collapses onto Captain bringing Lieutenant 1 down with it.
Guy slowly opens his eyes, "Bear?"
The large man gives Guy a big smile, "What trouble have you gotten yourself into now little brother?"
Lane looks at Bear amazed, "brother?"
"I don't...need your help...Bear," Guy mumbles and then passes out again.
Bear laughs out loud, "classic Guy."
Bear then hears Captain trying to get out from under the tree, "oh time to go."
Bears dog has now ground to the size of a carriage.
"What's going on?" Lane asks.
Bear grabs Guy out of Lane's arm and puts him in the dog's mouth.
"You're next, don't worry she won't bite," says Bear as he picks Lane up and puts her on top of the dog's back.
"Where are we going?" asks Lane.
"To my place," Bear replies.
With the speed of a horse Bear takes off running and the dog follows him away from the battle.
Finally, Captain lifts the tree off of himself and throws it to the side. Lieutenant 1 tries to help him to his feet, but Captain pushes him away.
"Where are they!" he shouts as he looks around for any sign of the group.
In a dark and unknown place, the Colonel walks down a hallway. He enters a room where the old Elf lord stands looking out of a window.
The Colonel takes a knee, "you called for me my lord?"
"The Captain has failed me again," says the Elf lord.
"Have more thralls fallen my lord?" Colonel ask.
"Yes, along with a two Lieutenants," The Elf lord replies.
The Colonel jumps to his feet, that "shouldn't be possible my lord!"
"I agree it shouldn't be. Something has gone terribly wrong and I want you to fix it," says the Elf lord.
"As you wish my lord, and what about Captain?" Colonel asks.
"Once you've all safely returned with the key he will be dealt with," the Elf lord explains.
The Colonel smiles, "I won't fail you, my lord."
