Chapter 1 - End of The World

May 11th

My name is Alex. And it's the end of the world.

I thought that everyone turned invisible at first, but now I'm not so sure. I think that I'd still be able to hear them even if they were invisible. I hear nothing though.

It's strangely peaceful though. I honestly might get used to this quiet. It's kinda nice.

I decided to just run away from home and never look back. I'm sure mother won't mind. She's gone, so it doesn't matter.

She never really cared about my well being anyways.

The outside world is quite beautiful to be honest. Much better than being holed up inside school with mountains of work to do.

The smell is amazing. Like maple syrup and cinnamon. I'm glad I left school. It hurts to smell when your nose is broken.

I went walking in the woods at night. Wasn't really a good idea. It's hard to see. It's hard to move forward when you're swallowed in darkness. And I though I was used to that.

The branches of the trees scraped my legs a little, nothing bad. The wolves howls were terrifying though. Being close to the noise compared to hearing it from your house are two COMPLETELY different things.

I decided to build a fire and take shelter. I brought a ton of stuff from my home, one of those things being rope. I went out camping hardcore with my father a lot when I was in middle school.

When I say hardcore, I mean as in we went to the forest with nothing but the clothes covering our bodies for a week.

The shelter I built was nothing compared to what my dad could do, even with the stuff a brought, but it was still cozy enough. Luckily, I brought a pillow and blanket to keep warm.

I wasn't hungry, so I let the fire die out naturally and tried to sleep.

I can never tell the difference between crickets and cicadas. They both sounded a little similar. Either way, the sound that echoed in the night was like a soothing nursery rhyme that you play to help your baby fall asleep. It was a nice sound.

If I'm still alive, then, if anyone is still alive out there, they'll find the next page filled with more words.

I do plan on staying alive for a little longer though. It's not the end of the world just yet. It's still too soon. I'm not ready just yet.

Hopefully the world ends on the day that I'm ready.
