The next day, the weather was quite good at Isla Hernández. The air was cold and clouds as white as whipped cream enveloped the sky. Dan, Fayette, and Camb all took shelter under a shady tree near a rocky cliff. Thankfully, their belongings hadn't been lost. Dan took a spyglass and looked around the sea. He couldn't find any ships.
The island seemed to be welcoming. The hills off Isla Hernández were almost burnt to ash that night. However, Paramades was a much nicer island, and Dan decided to move to Paramades and build a treehouse in the tallest tree. This idea may look absurd without prior tools, but Dan thought he could just make it with little help from his fairy and his own spells.
Dan had a few carrots and a fresh salmon which all three of them shared. Fayette packed Dan's bag, while Camb was messing with the crabs and lobsters on the beach. Some of them pinched him sharply. Ouch!
Paramades was a beautiful island - more beautiful than Dan thought. The place wasn't very packed with jungle trees, yet it was nice. There were trees like that of the palm and nutmeg family, a few clumps of rubber trees, kapok trees, Ramon trees, eucalyptus trees, ferns, bamboo, and other wild fruits and blossoms. There were edible fruits like bananas and berries as well as a few poisonous plants like castor beans and flytraps and some button mushrooms and puffing mushrooms and toadstools.
Of course, it was a wet, humid jungle, with mist blowing through the canopy at a few places. There was one tall Hyperion tree which Dan easily recognized with his taxonomical knowledge. It was surrounded by a few Centurion trees which Fayette identified. The tree was suited to their wishes as it was tall enough for a broad, excellent view of the terrains and waters near the area.
Dan gathered some wood from the bright-coloured and pink Ipe trees. Their wood was as strong as steel, Dan considered. So too did Fayette, based on her camping experience to a million islands.
"You know what, Dan? I had been to a million islands. So did my mates. Almost every fairy did that."
"Won't you feel tired," Dan asked while he was chopping wood, "after all, you are a fairy. I would've been very exhausted. "
"I had been to islands with lush, gloomy jungles like this one, and dreary deserts where the water is occasionally spicy like pepper! Or sometimes what seems to be a small hump on the archipelago leads into a deep tunnel leading to caves with diamonds and sapphires that give out the light!"
"It's no surprise, 'cause this is Fantalasia."
They have chopped quite a decent amount of wood, but time had elapsed. It's noon, and they want lunch. Fayette flew through the vegetation to the sea while Dan was patting Camb. He was feeling uneasy and peckish. He wasn't used to this much dampness and was hungry despite the salmon he ate just a few hours before. Dan discovered a creek flowing nearby. He was glad to find te, despite the fact that he took an hour on it and Fayette didn't return yet.
There wasn't any fish in it - not even a single one. Just a few shrimps and carbs along the way but, no fish at all. Dan wasn't expecting that though. He wanted Camb to have himself wet with fresh, cold, jungle water found in the middle of the sea! In more simple terms, he wanted Camb to take a swim. He felt quite hot out there all this time.
Camb dived into the creek without further ado. It wasn't very deep - not even deep. It was only flowing water - but was a bit cold. Dan wanted to swim as well, but he wasn't willing to dive in without a swimsuit. Moreover, he never wanted to get a cold, for he couldn't work for a week then!
