The next day, they planned to move into the savannah. Dan was pretty sure they could reach the end of the cave when they followed the river, which opened into the outside. he figured it out from the map that they got from Horn Nemesis.
After having marshmallows again for breakfast, Dan mounted Hadrian and tied a lead of Marcus' to his right hand. Marcus promptly followed Dan, who carried all the luggage. Fayette sat on Marcus, while Camb walked along.
It was pretty a good walk actually. The sounds of the river were extremely satisfying of them. On their way along the river, they found some interesting species of life. There were bright, glowing squid of all colours - red, magenta, white, orange. Also, there were small, flying jellyfish-like organisms named "Custers". They made the sound equivalent to a dolphin and were completely friendly. Their only purposes are to clean water and make jelly!
The adventures didn't even realize that they have arrived on the outside. To the outside was a vast grassland with grass as yellow as sulphur and of dead silence, only for the exception of the wind blowing through the grass, making hooting sounds.
The sky was dark, which was not appealing to an explorer, the thunder rumbled across the sky while the could as black as hair moved slowly above the hills, which was their destination.
While Dan trotted into the grass along with his two horses, they heard an unexpected rumble.
"Something isn't right..." said Dan, as he saw the lightning strike over the mountains.
"I don't think so this is a good place for us, Dan," said Fayette
"This is your land, and you are familiar with it. Why do you seem so scared."
"Nothing, Dan. I'm not s-scared"
"You're lying"
'Well, you found I'm lying. I don't feel comfortable here!"
"Why?!"
"I-I"
"Why are you staggering?"
"Look back, Dan! HADRIAN! MARCUS! CHARGE!"
Hadrian and Marcus, being extremely reflexive, charged to the right. Dan fell to the ground. His lead a loose and Marcus neighed. Dan looked up, to see five men, with full armour and with axes.
"RUN, FELLAS! RUN!"
One of them swung their axe in the air which went right through Dan's ears. He fortunately escaped. Hadrian ran forth, along with Camb. Dam mounted Marcus and picked up a sword and a revolver.
The five men could actually hover in the sky, and they chased Dan with a full charge of speed. Dan rode across the savannah, changing his direction often. He gave Marcus a command and fell onto the floor, from where flakes of dust flew in the air. Marcus rode a bit away from that spot. While Dan shot three shots at one person. He slowed down and fell to the ground. The others went for him while Dan shot four of them. They were bamboozled. The four were injured, while one of them was in full health. He drew his sword out and slashed the fifth person.
He was eliminated at once, but the other four charged before him with axes in their hand. Dan swung his sword at them, but he lost his grip and the sword was in the air the very next moment when at the correct time, Fayette used her magic and the four were slowed down, they ran away, in fear of getting another good smack from them.
"That was pretty easy," said Dan.
Jus them, there came a strong gale of black smoke.
"RUN EVERYONE!"
Dan mounted Hadrian at once. He whistled out and Marcus ran before him. Dan shot his revolver at the smoke. It went through it and there was no response. Just in time, more axemen appeared from the smoke. He shot continuously at it and refilled the barrel of the revolver while eliminating the axemen as well. He did not even realise where he was going. It was Fayette who updated him with the directions. Their agenda is to reach the mountain. But, Dan felt it hard to defeat the axemen. He was just too exhausted to do the work, as he was already in a dilemma.
Fayette understood what he meant and she cast magic.
"Hocus Pocus Marcus Studus Pull APART!"
They were teleported to the hill in a few seconds. Dan was amazed at this. A few blue-coloured particles surrounded them and they were completely covered, only to see that they are beside the hill. They watched in the distance the axemen searching for them. After searching for them for a few minutes they disappeared.
It was a fairly good day for the adventurers. They did not even acknowledge that the sun was about to set. They had a good dinner of tomato soup that day.
