Alex finally finished hunting the last zooplankton. He had to admit, the marine world was wayyyy more beautiful than he gave it credit for there were thousands if not hundreds of thousands of plankton all around him. At night coupled with the stars, these little animals made the sea extremely beautiful. None the less Alex had more things to worry about than the beauty of nature around him. The moment his exp hit 20 another option appeared before him.

2. Common Squid Juvinnile: The second stage in the life of the common squid. These squids are larger than their baby versions and can freely move through the water.
Alex carefully studied his options. From what he could see the first option, The southern Pygmy Squid seemed to reach its adult stage and from what he could see would have next to no options for further evolution. On the other hand, the Juvenile squid seemed to have just reached the middle states of its life so there was a high chance that it would have more options to grow and branch out. Without a second thought, Alex quickly went with the second option. Instantly he felt a lurch around his body as his body began to elongate and his once transparent skin darkened. His status interface suddenly lit up as some changes appeared on it

Alex looked at his status interface with a joyous expression. Not only had his stats gotten a massive boost but he had also he had received 2 new skill's that he was itching to try. He opened his interface and selected [Jet Propulsion]
[Jet propulsion]: The most basic skill possessed by squids. It allows for rapid bursts of movement during normal conditions and sudden bursts of movement during escapes (Lvl 1) allows the user to move a maximum of 1 meter at a time

Alex steadied himself before activating his [Jet propulsion]. As if sho from the barrel of a gun he lurched forward by about 50 cm. 'I need to get used to this' the sudden lurch left Alex with a slight headache as he steadied himself. His second skill literally spoke for itself. When Alex tried to use it he found that he could move the water in a 30 cm radius of him to a certain extent like make a small whirlpool or a small stream of water around him. Overall Alex was extremely satisfied with his skills. He dreamt of a time where he would be able to make a tornado with this skill of his. The second thing that he badly wanted to do was to claim his quest rewards. He hurriedly claimed his reward, a deep blue box filled his vision as he rushed forward to open it. The blue box burst open with a loud pop and three items floated around him in small bubbles, two of them were small bottles and the third was a small navy blue rock with a swirl pattern on it. Alex quickly used inspect on the two types of items.
[Small bottle of exp pills ]2 these bottles contain 5 experience pills that double the experience gained for 2 hours each
[Small Piece of Marine Jade]: This magical rock can increase the level of a lesser water type skill by 1 permanently.
Alex was satisfied by these items especially the exp pills. If he took one before a massacre he would gain a massive amount of experience. Just thinking about it made him drool slightly. Alex's quest panel also underwent a change as he received another quest.

The massive experience reward greatly improved Alex's mood as he started swimming around to look for his new prey.
About 10 minutes later Alex found what he was looking for, a small crab was strolling around the kelp. Alex used his Inspect skill on it to check its level

Alex carefully studied the crab's stats. It was an animal with high defense average damage but low speed. Alex believed he would easily take down his prey, But he couldn't be more wrong about that. The moment he launched his attack the crab viciously fought back with his claws, each of its attacks caused 2 damage to Alex and his hp bar was plummeting at astounding speeds. After taking 3 hits Alex quickly escaped leaving the crab to do its thing. 'Was that a crab or some kind of sea monster' panting Alex muttered to himself. His hp was reduced by 6 points and he hadn't been able to leave a scratch on the crab. 'Well, I need to learn some attack skills.' Alex started studying his skills again.

After some time Alex decided to experiment with [Water Manipulation] trying to recreate a skill he saw in his favorite anime "That Time I was Reincarnated As A Slime" [Water Slash]. Alex figured he could do some serious damage to the crab with it. But unfortunately, even after practicing water manipulation for an hour, he was only able to get the shape of it right, the actual attack did not carry any force in it, Worse still his mp had hit zero, upset Alex didn't have a choice but to sit back and leave his enemy to live another day
