I skipped into the kitchen to see my dad's face buried in his mountain of paperwork. But when is he not?
He must've heard my footsteps because he looked up at me and gave me a lazy smile with his glasses perched carefully on his nose. I returned the smile, taking a seat beside him on the counter. "Hey, Dad."
"Hey, Angel. How was school?" Dad asked, his eyes skimming through some documents rapidly.
I sighed. "It was okay. Actually, that's kind of the reason why I'm here."
He looked up, taking off his glasses and giving me his full attention. That was one thing I loved about him. No matter how busy he was, he always made time for me. "Is everything okay, honey?"
"Yeah, yeah! I only wanted to share some news with you." I sighed, running my hand through my hair.
"Okay, let's hear it."
