"Royal flush." Karen grinned, taking all the chips for herself.
Daniel and I equally groaned and leaned back in our chairs. On Thursday morning, It's not even ten o'clock, and my grandmother just beat us in Texas hold'em.
"You're cheating." Daniel stood up, accusing her.
I rolled my eyes at him, feeling a buzz at the back of my pocket. "I did not. I'm only really good at it. The game is all about probability."
"In other words, my mother is a cheater," Daniel muttered.
"Karen, did you spend a year in Vegas or something?"
Karen looked down, grabbing the cards and shuffling them. "More like two years, give or take a few."
Well, she must've had a lot of practice.
I took my phone out of my cargo pants pockets and noticed that I had some text messages from Aiden. I opened the texts.
Jerk:
I can't spend the day with you today. The grandmother is making me see her D.A.R friends. Unfortunately, Karen isn't coming.
Me:
