The corners of Ariel's lips twitched, a wide grin etched across her face. Her gaze momentarily turned to the earrings that adorned both Antares's ears. Ariel looked back at Antares with an increasingly sharp gaze. "Are you willing to promise me one thing?"

"Yes, Antares promised Mother!" Antares answered without a second thought. Really innocent merman, no wonder why Ursilla is so worried about Antares if the merman meets the wrong person.

"Promise me, when you turn 17, leave your beauty scales to Mother, Antares…" Ariel's eyes flashed an evil look. She giggled horribly at Antares who flinched at his mother's request.

"M-my beauty scales?" Antares's hands unconsciously moved to hold the two earrings hanging from his ears. His face paled as Ariel's sapphire blue eyes stared savagely at him, waiting for Antares to give an answer.

Antares swallowed hard. "B-but, Mother… If I give up my beauty scales, then I will…"
