"Whatsup Sensei-Yan!"
"Jin-Buddy I was out training and there is a village nearby, wanna go check it out with me?"
"Of course man. Just be on guard in case bandits or anything."
The boys jogged over to the village gate and the guards let them in
(Looks like this town does pretty well for itself)
"This is a town not a village Sensei-Yan."
"Yeah I noticed hahah..uh.. Lets look for a job then an inn I haven't slept on a bed for a while but I also don't got money right now."
There were not only street urchins but also many people looking viewing goods and wandering about
(I can get some good clothes here)
"Hey Jin-Buddy lookie here!"
"Isn't that kind of mercenary work? I don't know If I wanna risk my life just to make some cash Sensei-Yan."
"Uh"
Yan's smooth features had tried their best to look strict and in thought, but had only made him look like a child who had been throwing a tantrum
"I mean, sure Sensei-Yan, but if it gets super serious I think I may bolt out of there."
"Of course Jin-Buddy, don't try to fight when you are outmatched."
The boys had decided to take the job and went to talk about their application, Yan had explained they were training cultivators and they were hired to bodyguard a few caravans going to a town which was in the same general direction as the boys' destination, they would set out of the town in two weeks.
"Hey let's meet back here in a couple hours Ima look around alright?" Yan had a kind smile on his face and looked as though he was seeking approval
"Yeah sure I'll do the same." (I have no idea what to do, do I just go around talking to people?)
Jin had mostly been walking around looking at things and remembering his old life.
"I heard that some great master of not only Spirit but Physical and Mantra was seen around the mountains."
Jin looked ovet and it was three men sitting together, the one who had said this was a big dude at least 6'2" with a stocky build and the other two were normal, their clothing had made it obvious they were not poor but also not a rich family.
"Uh-huh, and where did you hear this? And how was it known all three attributes of power were being mastered?"
The third man chimed in with a big grin on his face: "This isn't a four legged chicken man thing again is it?"
"No, I overheard some townsguards talking about it, apparently the main hall calligrapher had overseen it with his spirit-stone telescope!"
The second man's face had lost expression and the third man had blurted out almost immediately after but in an even more hushed voice; "Hey, If this has something to do with the higher ups I don't think we should talk about it, luckily nobody is close enough to hear.." Then he raised his voice "Haha I don't think ants have noses stop joking."
(This sounds like pretty important stuff, maybe I should do more focusing on spiritual cultivation so I can pick up more convos like this, maybe I should head back now)
"Hey Big Hai, you should try out the testing stone they got for the main hall, I hear if you can get even intermediate you can get recruited and trained for the towns army, Im sure you could get a good score with that huge body of yours!"
(I'll ask Yan bout this stuff, and, is there ice cream? Oh no.. Probably not... And I dont even know how its made! I am never having ice cream again am I...)
The boys had met back up and Yan had talked about some pretty girls he saw and compared them to the girls where he used to live
"Sensei-Yan, what's a testing bone?"
"Haha Jin-Buddy you don't know what a testing STONE is?"
"Yeah that's what I meant, I mean I know that it measures strength but is there 3 different types or does 1 measure the strength of Spirit Mantra and Physical cultivation? And how do you know the levels? I heard there is one near a main hall."
"Uh, I think I should explain when we are there it'll be easier."
A while passed and they walked over to the side of the main hall where the towns-people pointed them to when they asked about the testing stone.
"Hey can me and my buddy use the tests?" Yan shot a grin at the guards who thought 'whats the harm theyre just a couple of kids'
There were 3 stones in the ground which were all seven feet tall
"Aight Jin buddy watch this"
Jin could see from Yans face he was also anticipating the answer
The stone had 9 sections which had gotten filled one at a time green till full, and then blue till all nine full, and then 3 more after that the color purple
The guards were now invested and also silently watching
"Look at that Jin-Buddy that is my spiritual power."
"Wow!"(That is pretty friggin cool)
The color had slowly faded from the last one and Yan had tried the second stone, this time the results were almost exactly the same except there were only two purple lines, Jin had seen the guards were even more impressed with this one and heard one whisper "That balance is true dedication."
"That one was my Physical Cultivation."
He moved to the third one and only two lines turned green and it was over.
Rather than looking dissapointed as Jin thought he would after he got so high on the other ones, he had looked even more smug than before.
The guards had congradulated him and joked a little and then ushered Jin forward
"Good luck Jin-Buddy"
Jin placed his hand on the first stone and saw the bars rise.
