Chapter 16 - Turbulants

The door of the throne started to crack open with Zion, Jaden and Uchenna inside. The girls felt a hand on their shoulders then the feeling of being submerged in a liquid.

Their brains immediately started going into panic mode. They acted as if they were drowning. It took them a few minutes to notice if they were fine and Jadon was behind them watching them disappointed.

"You guys okay now right," he asked

"You couldn't say something, you saw us drowning" Uchenna spitefully

"Did you drown tho," He asked in a condescending tone

Zion and Uchenna looked at him with vexation

"Well okay," Jadon said

"That's why your shadow smells musty. Can we hear conversations from inside here without being noticed" Zion asked

"Yeah, we should be good. If we need to get closer I could get closer" Jadon assured her

In walked King Vadis with Sabar not too far behind. They were arguing at each but was out of range of the shadow. Jadon used his powers to sneak closer to them while trying to stay out of the way of Sabar.

King Vadis sat on his throne with a tired expression. Everything looked hazy to him- just walking over here he tripped many times. Inside his mind, he could feel something gnawing at his conscience.

Sabar was worried about his king but wouldn't try stopping him. He knew once the King had made up his mind nothing could stop him.

"My King you should rest in your chambers instead of being on the throne at the moment. I know you want to discuss the matter of the students but You could barely walk." Sabar warned him

The King watched him and snared which sent a clear message. Sabar trembled then took a knee

"I spoke out of turn my King, please forgive me" Sabar apologized

"It's fine Sabar, next time mind your tongue and know your place. On to the other matter. Those three students how are you going to deal with them?" King Vadis

The kids in the Shadows immediately started to panic- the gaze of Sabar passed over to them. But then he looked away almost immediately, the children finally took breathe.

"Zion, Jaden and Uchenna may have what you're looking for sir. It's the matter if we could extract it." Sabar answered

"You said they may have it, what does that mean exactly" King Vadis intrigued

"The levels of power they have been showing is astronomical also the speed in which they grow also signifies it. But" Sabar thinking carefully about his next words

"But?" King Vadis asked

"It could be that they're extremely talented," Sabar said

"I see" King Vadis leaning back into his chair, "Just keep a close eye on them we don't want them in enemies hands" King Vadis warned

"Of course sir," Sabar said

"Carry out the plan as we discussed" King Vadis commanded

Sabar shook his head and left the room. The children left at the same moment and headed to the top of the towers.

They exited the shadow and sat in silence for a bit. Everyone was too shocked to speak.

"Am, so we have bombs in we or something" Jadon breaking the silence

"I doubt there are any bombs in us but it could be," Zion said

"It could be something magical too" Uchenna chimed in

A loud bell rang summoning everyone to the courtyard. The friends stood up and hugged each other just in case.

As they made their way down, Sabar was standing near the door leading into the courtyard. As they passed by Sabar mumbled the words: Be safe out there

They looked at him confused as to what he was talking about. Sabar looked relieved before walking away.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Jaden frighten, "Yo guys what that supposed to mean"

"I don't know but let we hope we don't dead" Zion laughing it off

The rest of the classmates were already lined up. They quickly fall in trying to be stealthy.

The commander was extremely tall and had green hair. He was dressed fully armoured and had a scar over his right eye.

"Okay, people today we're doing something different with training. The Adventures guild needs some of our help. I'll tell you more about it when we get there but I'll say this- this training session is going to be very difficult" he said

All the students were very excited about this training session. The trio from earlier felt extremely differently. This could be the plan that King Vadis put in motion for them and if they could survive it.

From a corridor, Sabar looked into the courtyard watching intently at Zion, Jaden and Uchenna. He knew that they were in the throne room earlier, Sabar wanted them to hear everything. He thought this would make them cautious making them easier to keep under control.

The students were led out of the castle to start the training session

Shaya was choking Migeru.

"How dare you ignore while I give you a lecture on behaviour" She screamed

"Shaya....I....I... can't breathe" Migeru gagged

"That's the goal here" Shaya answered

"Please... let.... me go. This isn't sexy anymore" Migeru squeaked

After minutes of being choked out, Migeru was finally let go but was left gasping for air.

"I'm sorry for my outburst just now" she apologized

Migeru was hanging out the window still trying to catch his breath.

They have been on the road for a few hours now. There was nothing interesting on the carriage ride so far. Most of the ride was just Migeru listening to music and Shaya explaining rules to him.

A few more hours pass by and it's starting to get dark. Shaya suddenly perks up and says

"We're entering bandit territory"

"Yeah so" Migeru as lax as ever

"We should be careful even though we're travelling in this carriage" She added

"Who's going to attack a carriage that's being pulled by literal hell horses. If we do get robbed guess who's in this carriage right now. The most powerful mage in the demon Kingdom and The magic focus Demon king. If someone tried to rob us it should be an easy win." Migeru confidently

As soon as the sunset behind the mountains a giant fireball blasted the carriage. flipping it over, The luggage inside flew out the carriage scattering everywhere,- the carriage itself skid across the dirt road.

A large group of men approached from the vehicle with smirks and laughing proudly at the carnage they caused.

"Well boys we got a great haul" The leader of the bandits satisfied
