Chapter 2 - Restart

How did we get to this point in our lives, we were so happy but was that happiness a lie. If we were truly happy would be here. I could say the world is a terrible place but that cliche is way overused, right now I'm just tired. The very moment that we fought I knew something was off and when he decided that he didn't need me anymore I...I broke. I should probably start from the beginning huh, well this started three months ago. It was the end and the beginning for us as I was finishing high school and Jason was starting a new job. There were certain things that we could have done differently maybe you can help me figure it out.

[Three months ago]

It was the beginning of January and students were now off their winter break. The city was partially asleep as not many people were out. Students walking and chatting about what they did on their break, the brisk air blow in through a wind waking up Mason. He shivered as he pulled his covers not knowing that Jason snuck in his room with a bag of flour. He threw the bag as hard as he can and the flour explodes on Mason's face. Mason shot up and rolled off the bed, he tried to get up in confusion but he kept falling because to him the whole room was spinning

"Time to get up," Jason said laughing

"Wha,wha" Mason panicking

"School," Jason said

"Oh no" Mason terrified

"Oh yes" Jason smiling, "You have thirty minutes to get ready"

"You dick" Mason slightly annoyed

"I am," Jason said proudly

Mason ran out of the room at breakneck speeds. He darted into the shower while Jason strolled into the kitchen to make breakfast. After a few minutes, Mason barges into the kitchen stuffing his face full of food.

"Leave some for me to," Jason says

"I told you to wake me up early" Mason angrily

"Yeah whatever" Jason shrugged, "You have twenty minutes now"

"I really don't like you" Mason coldly

"I know you don't, now go on" Jason smiling

Mason made sure he had everything and headed out the door. You could see the snow melting to reveal the green grass beneath its surface. The city began to come alive, the sounds of car engines rumbling and the horn of the train going off in the distance. Excited to see his friends, Mason weaved through crowds of people. The school he goes to is called West Brook high and it's a good place to be if you make it so. Mason arrived ten minutes before the bell around miraculously, the school halls were huge and filled with bright colours. He noticed a large crowd surrounding some boys. One of them was skinny with a blue shirt and black pants. The other boy wore a red v neck with s black jacket over it, his pants were ripped jeans with a chain hanging out of them.

"Hey Jermy leave that guy alone" Mason called

The boy with the red shirt snarled as he heard Mason's voice. He turned around to look at him with utter disgust. The crowd of students held their breath because of the interaction of these two. Jermy is a muscular yet handsome boy. Mason walked up to and look at him straight in the eyes, some students ran to get a teacher as these two fought before.

"Leave that boy alone" Mason repeated

"Or what?" Jermy scoffed

"Or I'll put you in the hospital again," Mason said

Jermy pauses for a moment then walks away

"That's what I thought" Mason murmuring to himself

"It's the first day" A male voice calling out

Out from the crowd, a brown-skinned boy walks out. He had curly hair with freckles on his face, his eyes were weirdly blue. He walked up to Mason and hugged him, they talked for a while before the bell rang for the first period.

"Meet back here Cindy?" Mason asked

"Yeah no problem" he answered

"Tell the others as well okay," Mason said

"Yeah no problem" Cindy responded

The school periods end in thirty minutes and there are eight periods in a day. Masons sat in the classroom starry-eyed. Teachers often complain about him being in a different universe while in class, Mason feels safer in this world than anywhere else. To him, this was the only play where he can be truly at peace even with his brother nearby its still his haven.

"Mason..Mason" His teacher called

"Yes Miss Standford" Mason coming back to reality

Miss Standford was a very tall woman with short bangs, she was dark-skinned and was clearly fit. The whole class respected her because of her dedication to her work. She would always get upset goes into his universe. Mason always had good grades and every other teacher would allow him to daydream in their class.

"Come on pay attention" Miss Stanford annoyed

"Hmm what you say?" Mason says still in dreamland

"Ok, what's the answer?" Miss Standford asked

"3X" Mason answered

"Damn I thought I had you" Miss Standford murmured

"Better Luck next time" Mason irritating her

"Yeah better cut out that daydreaming habit of yours" Moss Stanford in a calmer tone

"Yeah I know," Mason said

"I'm serious people will take advantage of you" Miss Standford warning him

"Yes ma'am" Mason answers

The three morning periods rolled by into their break and as soon break started Mason was the first person out. He headed towards the spot he told Cindy to meet at and when got there he notices some familiar faces. There was one guy and two girls, the guy name was Triston and the girls' names were Tracy and Fawn. Triston is white-skinned with ginger hair while Tracy had purple hair that was in a ponytail, on her right hand there were tattoos of butterflies. Tracy wore darker makeup which was opposite to what Fawn wore. She is more on the brightly coloured side of things, Fawn wore a long dress which was a pink wash colour. She was a little chubby and also had the warmest smile out of everyone there, they go off to find a spot to hang with each other.

"Triston," Mason said

"Mason" Triston scoffs

The two of them stare at each other for a while before bursting into laughter

"Why do you guys do that?" Tracy asks

"Why do you dress like an emo," Triston asks in return

"Because I want to," Tracy said

"Exactly," Mason said

"How does that, you know what nevermind," Tracy said

"We do this to worry people" Triston smiling

"You guys are asses," Fawn says rolling her eyes

"And you are pink," Mason said

"I'm not that pink" Fawn defensively

"Why are you dress like that?" Tracy asked

"Parents" Fawn answered

"Understandable have a great day," Triston said

"How were your guys break," Cindy said

"Cindy!!" Fawn screams running and hugging him as tight as she could. Tracy looked on watching this with a displeased look on her face.

"Cindy please let me go" Cindy pleaded

Cindy compared to the rest of the guys look more feminine but this doesn;t bother him as much. He likes being around them. The bonds they share is unbreakable, they had fights but all friends go through that. The group would have to break off because of the two periods they have before lunch but there was a group of children that chose to skip those classes. This was Jermy and his friends Jud and Alex, these were on the school football team. Jud was the tallest in the group while Alex was the most muscular and Jermy was the smartest. The three of them were drinking and talking about that morning incident, they were trying to plan revenge.

"Just fight him," Jud said

"Last time I did I ended up in the hospital," Jermy said

"Then what then?" Alex asked

"I can't beat him physically so let's try a mental approach," Jermy says smiling

This was the beginning of my downward spiral so what could I have done differently. I don't regret helping that guy. Everything from this point on is going to be bad so if you can't handle it please stop now, I appreciate you listening to me but your hurting with me isn't worth it.
