Chapter 313 Forced Career!
Open Seas: Ver's Ship: Poop Deck: Nighttime
Calm on the seas as night in capsulates the atmosphere, cool like ice in a glass of water as the wind flows.
Out on the poop deck as Ver and Excela sit in peace, wearing a light jacket to keep warm in the night comfort, gazing over to Excela from staring down, Ver says with his tone comforting and polite, are you cold? Do you want to wear one of my jackets or a blanket?
Looking to be not in any form of discomfort, facing Ver with her eyes seeming distant, Excela responds with her voice sounding more downcast than before, no I'm alright.
Keeping his eyes locked on the woman seating beside him, Ver answers back, you're not. I can tell something is bothering you, is it okay if I can ask what it is.
Quick with a reply, gripping her left kneecap, Excela says, I told you I'm fine. You probably wouldn't care if I told you any way.
Positioning his whole body toward her, hunching forward a bit as he rest his arms on his thighs, Ver says, try me...I may not have experienced loss, but I can still be sympathetic to someone. So, tell me, how did a fine young lady such as yourself get into mercenary work?
Doing the same motion as she rotates her body to match Ver, Excela states, funny how a guy that's probably taken more lives than me, is telling me about being sympathetic. But since you want to know my story I'll share, let's just say I was forced into this line of work.
