Chapter 1 - The Plan

The Plan

It all started when I was 7. My parents sent me to a military school because I wasn't pleasing them. I've been here since. My seventh birthday is in two days. Although this place is hell, I have met majority of my friends here. My roommate and best friend Jacob Shrewdan, have been rooming together since we both got here in 2013. There is my girlfriend, Kesley Burnette, who I have been dating for a little over 4 years. Between both, we will do anything to help each other out. Since the day I got here, my commanding officer is Lieutenant Fried. He is one of the cruelest men to walk on this earth. We always have to be perfect around him, or we will have to go to "the chamber". The chamber, aka the beating place, is a small, dark room where they beat us. Waking up in the morning the day after I have been to the chamber, I have around fifty bruises. No one from the outside world knows what goes on in this camp. We all try to tell our parents the things they do to us here, but no one listen because they think we are lying to them just to go home. Jacob and I have had a couple of semi-successful trips trying to escape, but every time they end up finding us. The camp has had to build around where we escaped from, because they didn't want other people to escape.

Christmas was a couple of days ago, and you know what my parents got me? They gave me twenty bucks. Like where do they think I can use that! Should I just go to my local shopping center and get different clothes than the ugly ones this camp makes us wear.

Our parents have way to high of an expectation for us. They think if they send us as far away from them as possible, it will change us. Well, I can tell you I changed, not the change they wanted, the change that was better for me. Jacob and I have been making a plan for the past three years, but we are not sure when we should start to put our plan into action. I have a feeling that the plan will start to occur soon. For now, we must wait and see how things go from day to day.

Today we have a test, a test of endurance. I have to go against all my friends. If I don't win, then I will have to go to the chamber. Yet, I will feel bad if one of my friends have to go there. We started the competition, and after hours of battling each other, we are getting the results.

"First place goes to Jacob, second place goes to Timothee, and third place goes to Zachary" Lieutenant Fried yelled.

After I heard my name go for second place, I felt a moment of relief. My heart was pounding out of my chest. Kesley's name hasn't been called yet. A few moments later, he said "last place goes to Kesley." my heart dropped. Two guards grabbed her and took her away. All I could hear was her screaming. Twenty minutes later, she came out of the chamber crying. Her whole body is red and all bruised. That's when, Jacob and I realized it is time to break out our plan.

We must make it perfect. When everyone falls asleep, that's when we will start. Curfew is at 10 o'clock, but the guards get off work at midnight .When everyone wakes up, they will have no idea what hit them. We put on our camo clothes, grabbed a pocketknife and duct tape, and headed out.

We must be so quiet; we can't wake anyone up. Our first victim is Lieutenant Frieds "pet", Anthony Lopez. He has three other roommates, so we must hope we don't wake anyone up. Tip toeing on the squeaky floorboards, we finally reached the bed. We started out by duct taping his mouth. Jacob wanted to work on our first victim. He stabbed Anthony over fifteen times. He was laughing the whole time. I was wondering why he was laughing, but then he handed me the knife and I stabbed him. Now I understood why he was laughing. This is so exhilarating. We have to stop giggling so we wouldn't wake anyone up. We finally decided that after 50 stab wounds, we were done.

The sun was rising. We ran back to our room and put our materials away. Jacob cleaned the knife and hid it. When we went to breakfast, Lieutenant Fried came in with a grim face. He informed everyone that Anthony had been killed, and that we are having mandatory bed checks every thirty minutes during sleeping times to prevent anymore killings. Well, all I can say is that it made a huge dent in our plan.

Kesley came over crying. She asked why someone would be sick enough to kill him. Jacob and I just sat there quietly.

After breakfast we rushed back to our room. Jacob kept hyperventilating and pacing back and forth throughout the room. I kept telling him to calm down and that no one would know it was us.

Nightfall came. I told Jacob that we had to leave right after the guards come into our rooms to do bed checks. He was freaking out and was told me that we shouldn't kill someone today. I chose not to listen to him. I told him that he can either stay here and sleep, or he can come and help. He ended up giving in.

Once the guards came into our room, we snuck out. We didn't pick out our next victim ahead of time. We just let the wind take us. Tonight, we brought both of our pocketknives. We decided to go to Mitchelle Button and Bertrum Grayson's room tonight. We both wanted to kill one of them. I chose Mitchelle and Jacob chose Bertrum. We counted to three, and then started stabbing. I heard the guard coming near the rooms. We started to panic. We had to run out quickly, but neither of us were done. Before the guards came into our room, we have to clean up. I have blood all over me. I need to take a shower, but I don't know if I will have time. But if I don't shower, I will get blood everywhere. I decided to take a shower. The whole time, I'm trying to figure out what my excuse will be for taking a shower if the guards come in. I thought that I would say that I threw up all over myself, but then I would have to go to the infirmary for a week. I couldn't think of another excuse, so I just hoped that they wouldn't see. I jumped out of the shower, got dressed and ran into bed. Luckily, the guards came in the second after I got into bed.

The morning came, Lieutenant shared that we would have guards in our room at night, and they will not leave.

After a long day of working, night fall came, and Jacob and I had an idea. When the guard came in our room, we acted like we were asleep. After a couple hours, we both waited till he turned around. Jacob and I came up from behind and stabbed him. After he died, we dragged him out of our room.

"If our guard is the only guard that got killed, won't that seem kind of weird?" Jacob murmured.

We decided that we would go to another room and kill another guard. We had to choose the weakest guard that wouldn't fight back. That guard was in Kesley's room. We ran over to her room and killed her guard. In that moment, Kesley woke up. My heart stopped. I didn't know what to do. She panicked and told me that it would be a good idea to call the Lieutenant. I ensured her and said that that would be a bad idea. She tried to run out of the room to get help, but Jacob wouldn't let her out.

"Dude, she's going to snitch on us. We have to do something about it!" Jacob panicked.

He knew how much this would hurt me, but I didn't want to get caught.

"Fine but I can't watch it." I told Jacob "Remember Kesley, I love you, but this has to be done!"

She was hysterical, I couldn't see her like this. I walked back to my room crying. Two minutes later, Jacob walked back to the room.

"We have to stab one of ourselves! It will look weird if Kesley and the guard died, and one of us didn't have anything happen to us!" Jacob proclaimed. I decided to take one for the team. Jacob stabbed me twice in the stomach.

"Now we have to make up what this 'guy' looks like that stabbed you!"

We ran over to Lieutenant Fried and lied about how I got stabbed.

"We were just sleeping, and we saw the guard go down, then a mysterious person came over to Timothee and stabbed him. I woke up at a perfect time before he could kill him!" Jacob uttered.

He believed us. I had to go down to the nurse to get stitches. That was perfect timing because in that moment, the police showed up and started questioning us.

They put Jacob and I in two different interrogation rooms.

"So, what did the man look like who stabbed you?" the officer asked me. I illustrated him as a "white male, maybe in his mid-thirties with dirty blonde hair". I told him that since the moment he stabbed me in went by so fast, that's all I could see from him.

They are all believing us. This is perfect. We might just get away with this.

After the police left us alone, we went to lunch. We presumed that we should lay off the killing tonight. It's going to get extremely hard to kill now. We went on and did our daily activities as if nothing happened.

By the time it was curfew, there were three SWAT teams on our campgrounds.

The next couple of weeks were hard. Every corner you look, there was someone standing there watching you. We had to do extra conditioning, and it was the hardest we have ever had to do. When we weren't doing anything, we just couldn't sit in our rooms, so we all had to sit in the cafeteria. Instead of doing schoolwork in different classes, we all had to do it with one class, and a couple of SWAT members sat in there with us. We couldn't even sleep in our own rooms. We have to go into the gym with our sleeping bags and sleep in there. That was the hardest part of all this. I don't know what was worse, the people who snore loudly, or the guards shining lights in our eyes every fifteen minutes.

All of this occurred for about a month. When the camp realized that no more killings happened, they layed off all the tactical forces. We were allowed to go back to sleeping in our own rooms, but we still had to have guards in our rooms. Jacob and I were still a little hesitant of starting our plan again. We decided to wait it out a couple of more days.

After that time passed, we decided to kill another camper that we hated, Colby Chizette. A little short story behind us hating him is, a couple years ago, Colby made up a lot of stories that were bad about us and told them to lieutenant Fried. He believed Colby over us. We had to go to the chamber for over two months. That was too hard for us. We were only 8 years old. That was the first time we to 'witness' the chamber. This has scarred us since. Every time we have to go to the chamber, it always brings us back to that moment. Jacob and I determined that it would probably be a better idea for only one of us to go in the room and the other person stays guard. Jacob wanted to kill this time, so we put our clothes under the sheets to make it look like we are sleeping under there. When the guard turned the other way, we snuck out of the window and crawled over to his room. Luckily, the window was open, so we could just sneak in. He was almost done when the guard turned around and saw him. The next moment I see about a dozen of police officers taking him out of his room.

When they were walking him out of the room, he looked towards me, and I could see him mouth to me, 'I won't say anything about you'. They brought him down to the jail to question him further. I feel bad that he got caught, but I can still use our plan. Maybe if I get caught, we can go in the same jail cell together.

Since the cops just think Jacob only killed them, they will never see me coming back and start to kill. But this time, I am going all or nothing, and that started with Lieutenant Fried. All the guards were called off because they "caught" the killer, but what they don't know is that there is another one of us. I know that they will find out sooner or later about me, but the longer they don't know, the better.

It became dark. This has to be the easiest kill because no one is babysitting us. I grabbed my supplies and started heading to his room. He was asleep. This is perfect. I made sure I duct taped his hands, feet, and mouth so he doesn't try to fight back. I got ready to start stabbing him. Since Jacob wasn't here to help me, I decided to overkill in his honor. What I didn't know was that a guard was walking past the room, and he saw me. I ran out of that room as fast as possible. The guard yelled on his walkie talky, and half of them woke up and were chasing me. The next moment, I felt pressure in my back. They shot me. The guards didn't even try to help me. They just made me sit there until I died.
