Chapter 1 - Unknown Girl

'At the end of one's life, there's nothing but mystery. There are questions that no one can answer; whether what you believed in is true or do you even have something to hold onto. They say that people often follow the path that can benefit them, hence if that is really the case, why does people commit suicide? Can death benefit one?'

"Mr. Forester, you should go ahead."

Facing the back of an old lady, the confused young man does not know what to do. The fact that today is his first time going in a big city, everything he has been encountered until now was a blur. The lady in front of him is the land lady of the dormitory where he will be staying until he finish his studies, she's close to his father and because of that, she's the one who offered her place.

"AHA!"

He almost jumped out of surprise because of the lady's loud voice. When he glanced at her, she's busy looking for the books at the top shelf. The books can no longer be recognize because of the thick dust that covers it. The ladder that the old lady is using to check the books can be described as the oldest that the young man had ever seen in his entire life.

'I wonder if that's still safe..' he thought.

She then went down and handed over a book, "Read this in your room."

Without a question, he accepted the book and bowed his head. "Thank you, Mrs.."

"Mrs. Natalia."

He nodded, "Uh yes.. Mrs. Natalia, thank you."

He excused himself and left the room. He started to walk until he reached the stairs but he stopped and looked back at the hallway. While roaming his eyes around he noticed how old the building was. Because he rushed over here, he didn't notice the area awhile ago. 'So old,' he thought. From the condition of the walls to the windows, it is indeed old, even the displays and furniture. The wooden floor also creates a weird sound whenever someone step into it. It is like a scene from a horror film. Although, he knows that there's no choice, living in here will help him earn money instead of paying the house costs since the rent is free.

When he reached his floor, he took a deep sigh and walked even more faster. There's an open door near him but he did not bother to check it, thinking that someone is staying in there and forgot to close the door but he immediately stopped when he heard something, a sound that came from the impact of something that shattered on the floor.

Curiosity filled his mind. His instinct is telling him to walk away but his body moved on its own.

"Hello?" he opened the door even more widely. "Umm, hello? Someone in here? Need help?"

Silent yet the harsh wind coming from the open window welcomed him. There's no one inside, just a white cat that's probably the culprit who's guilty for making the ruckus. While he's at it, the young man took the chance to glance at the interior of the apartment. The pastel color of the walls perfectly fits the light coming from the sun. As if the owner purposely chose the color to make it look like the sun light kissed everything inside this room. Now, the room looks even more nostalgic; like a scene from a book.

He was amazed by it.

He was about to step away from the door when his back bumped into something. He turned to check what is it but to his surprise, it's not just something but.. someone.

"O-Oh, I'm sorry."

Her hair was blocking her face but he couldn't help but to wonder, who is this girl? Wearing an unknown uniform, tied hair with a ribbon and holding a familiar book.

"I'm sorry--" He was cut off by her beauty the moment she fixed her hair.

'Her eyes, it feels like she's shinning..'

Deep blue eyes like the ocean, pale skin like the clouds, freckles that shines through the sunlight like stars; she's like the sky herself.

"Lucian.. right?" she smiled. Even her voice sounds magical. Just like the gentle whisper of the wind.

"H-How.."

"The land lady told me," She offered her hand, "Achlys.."

"Achlys..?"

"Just Achlys."
