The next morning everyone got up and walked around wandering what we should do. No one had the appetite to eat after the little battle yesterday.
"So, what's the plan?", Slade asked from behind me. Honestly, I had no idea what to do, I was just as dumbfounded.
"Don't know, honestly I thought you would have an answer.
"I'd say we should lock him in a room and bring food into him to keep him alive", said Jenny. The idea of her producing that thought is a little strange. Normally she would be a nice person and gives second chances, especially in serious situations. This situation is different though, it is life or death. It is not the best idea, but it will have to work for now.
"I agree with Jenny it's the safest choice for both parties", agreed Slade and me.
"Wait you can't do that! I'm a normal person and I'm not dangerous!", pleaded Jefferson.
Slade told him that if you are trying to bring the monsters that are outside in here, then you are dangerous. I had to admit even though we were young and idiotic it does not mean that we should try to do something as stupid as bring an infected in. We grabbed Jefferson by the arms and brought him to an empty closet, we threw him in there and blocked the door with a chair since we could not find a key to lock the door.
The rest of the day was confusing and unnerving. We were trying to find things to do, since there was internet now no one was happy with reading books or drawing. Most people were just sleeping and walking around.
Slade, Jenny, and I were looking around for a way to get out of here. So far, we found nothing that could help us. We tried to pick locks to lead to different rooms. The only thing that we found was brooms, mops, gym equipment, and bow and arrows. I was in for the bow and arrows, but Slade pointed out that we only need someone with a good aim to use these. He had a good point and for that I owed him, not that I already did not owe him my life.
We tried to look around for keys while we were at it. Nothing came up. As we walked by the entrance, Jenny noticed something. She pointed it out, but we could not see it either. Slade produced the idea to use a phone's camera to zoom in to the object. I pulled out my phone and turned the camera on. As I zoomed in on it I realized, not what it was but who it was. It was the Janitor and the infected were around him, ripping him apart, chewing on his tendons like they were juicy steak.
My stomach began to churn, and I felt sick to my stomach. I dropped the phone and hunched over with my hands on my knees. Bile began building up in my mouth and I could not fight the urge to throw up. I Emptied the contents of my stomach, while Slade had his turn at looking at the horrific image. After Slade's skin turning from a nice tan skin tone to a pale ghost white, Jenny got the impression to not look out there.
After we emptied our stomach's Slade, and I went to the bathroom to rinse our mouths. As we cleaned our mouths, Slade brought up the question I hoped would not be brought up, not now.
"How are we going to fight these things?"
As I finished cleaning my mouth I pondered this thought trying to figure out this problem. At some point I was focused more on making it out of here in one piece.
"I don't know right now; the first thing is for us to gather supplies. After that we can figure something out maybe find a map of the building".
"We know this High School like the back of our hand. What do you mean "we need a map of the building"?
"Not the halls he means the ventilation system and how to get to the roof", Jenny answers.
"Yeah if we would find out how to get to the roof we can also we can figure out how to get to the stadium in the safest possible route".
"Yeah not to rain on our genius parade but we also need protection for that air outside. We need a gas mask or something", Slade pointed out. "And the only person that had a gas mask or a chem mask is... Well, the janitor".
"Yeah, we don't want to end up like him. If he has his keys on him could grab them when none of them is looking", I said.
