A/N: Uploads next week will depend on how much work I'll have to do this week. If I have to do too much work, I might not be able to write during the weekends (I'm sorry, I don't function well when I'm burnout). Just giving everyone a heads up in case I'm not able to update >.< Anyway, enough of this, and enjoy this week's chapter! Btw, you can check my Twitter account for updates cos I post there too.

Veronica finally releases a heavy sigh as soon as she's seated in the passenger seat.
Cedric then glances at her before moving his eyes back on the road. "That must have been tiring."
"Uh, yeah. But not so much. I can still go for another hour or two."
"Really?"
"...N-no. I'm just kidding."
Cedric laughs from his seat.
Would you look at that...so he can laugh charmingly like that too.
"I've never seen my grandmother this happy before ever since my grandfather died so thank you."
"There's no need to thank me. I'm just doing my job."
"You're right...but I still want to thank you for doing this. Today was my fault but you did a good job even if you look like you were about to faint from the start."
He's praising her right?
"Uh, you're welcome?" she tells him and he just smiles charmingly at her again.
The travel to April's was shorter than expected as they were soon parked in front of her apartment building.
"Get some rest. Ms. Ravens should contact you again tomorrow for your schedule."
"Sounds great. Thank you for giving me a ride."
He then politely nods his head before driving away.
---
The lights were still on when Veronica opened the door to the apartment. "A?" she calls.
"In here!" a voice answers her from inside the room so she walks toward it.
April has her luggage out while her clothes are all over the place.
"You're leaving?"
"Uh yeah...Did you lost your memory or what? I thought you asked me to stay with your parents for a while?"
"Oh, right." Veronica moves the clothes on the bed to the side and sat on the free spot on the mattress.
"Need help?" Not waiting for her friend's reply, Veronica grabs some of April's clothes on the floor and began folding them.
"No, I can handle this," April says, taking the clothes from her friend's lap before shooing her away from her luggage which made Veronica laugh. "Anyway, how did your appointment went?
"What appointment?"
"Apparently, your secretary, Mikaela, told me that you have an emergency appointment with the hairdresser."
"Oh, no hairdresser. I wouldn't feel this exhausted if I actually went to have my hair fixed."
"So, where did you go?" April asks again while rolling a pair of her socks to neatly tuck it on the side of the bag.
"It's with his grandmother. We went to her estate and had a meal together."
April's hand froze and she drops the shirt she's been folding. "No shit. You mean, you met Beatrice Ford?"
"Yeah, If I remember correctly that's his grandmother's name. Why?"
With a gasp, April covers her mouth in disbelief. "She's a monster in the business industry. Do you know how many companies she swallowed whole during her starting years as CEO of West Enterprise?
"West Enterprise? I thought her company's name is Ford?
"She renamed it after getting married. Anyway, that woman is the best in the field and I can't believe you met her. Do you know how much I look up to her ever since I started my company? She.Is.Amazing." April gushed, fangirling over gran.
"She showed me her garden and all the flowers she grew herself."
April gasps once again. "You lucky bitch. See!? Beatrice Ford is the epitome of perfect. What can that woman not do? Seriously, when I took on this project, never in my life did I dreamed of meeting her." she says with teary eyes.
"You'll meet her? When?"
"Well if you take me with you when you go back to her estate, ill meet her sooner."
"You want me to take you to her estate? I can't do that."
"Roni, you're going to be her granddaughter-in-law. There's nothing you can't do."
"It's fake granddaughter-in-law."
"Look, I just want to shake her hand."
"What? A!"
"Fine, if you don't want to. I'll see her at your fake wedding anyway and you can't stop me when that time comes cos you'll be busy getting married."
Knowing April, she'll probably do what she says and introduce herself to Cedric's grandmother and fangirl in front of her and maybe even embarrass herself along the way whether Veronica helps her or not.
"Fine. I'll try but I can't promise you anything. you do know that I just met her today, A."
"You know that's all I want to hear." Feeling satisfied, April hummed to herself as she goes back to packing her clothes.
---
The buzzer rang nonstop and jolted Veronica awake. April's probably still asleep even with all the annoying sound. Unlike her, that woman can sleep through an earthquake, which makes her wonder how she's able to survive living alone.
She looked through the peephole and saw Mikaela waiting outside, phone in her ear.
Veronica quickly opened the door and her secretary looked so relieved to see her. "Why are you here so early in the morning?"
She puts the phone back inside her bag and smiled at her. "Hello, ma'am. Uhm...It's already 10 in the morning actually."
Veronica's eyes widen in surprise and she hurriedly sprinted to her room after excusing herself. She checked her phone and saw how many missed calls Mikaela left. Even Cedric called her. How in the world was she able to sleep through that? Checking her phone again, Veronica noticed that it's not even on silent mode.
How the heck? Then the loud blaring of her ringtone almost made her drop the device on the floor.
"Hello?" She answers as soon as she saw the caller.
"I was about to send out Daniel on a rescue mission to your apartment if you hadn't answered this."
"Good morning?"
"Why aren't you answering your phone and the door? Mikaela called me in panic telling me that you might have been kidnapped."
Veronica can't help but let out a short laugh after hearing what her assistant did. That girl sure has the wildest imaginations. "I was asleep and it's unexpectedly deep. I think I was just so tired yesterday that I didn't even wake up from any of your calls. I swear, I'm usually an early riser."
He sighs on the other line. "That's fine. As long as you got a good sleep."
"Are you mad?"
"No. I'm hanging up."
"Okay. I'm sorry for worrying everyone." she hurriedly says before Cedric ends the call.
Once the line got cut off, Veronica ran back to the living room and saw Mikaela still waiting at the door.
"I'm sorry for that. Come on in." she invites her inside before heading for the kitchen with Mikaela following behind. "Have you eaten yet? Cedric told me that you've been waiting for me. I'm sorry."
"It's okay, ma'am. This is a part of my job."
"Just call me Veronica please and no it's not okay to wait that long outside even if you're working for me so let me feed you something as an apology.
"Then I'd take you up on that offer, Veronica."
"Good."
