Jeong Hye then opened the drawer and took something out.
"By the way, I forgot to give this back to you. The hospital returned this, they found it on you when you were admitted."
She told and gave it to Gon.
Gon was curious as he received it, when he saw what it was, he became petrified.
It's non-other than the golden pocket watch.
This was something from his previous life.
'What is this thing doing here, in this parallel universe. How was this on him? Did it follow him while he transmigrated?'
Many questions popped up inside his head.
While this was going on, a maid entered the room and told Jeong Hye, that she has received a call.
"Wait here for a while I will come back soon, baby."
Gon just gave a nod to his mom but all his attention was on the watch.
She then left the room and Gon was the only one left inside the room.
He can see his reflection on the golden surface of the watch.
It sure was antique.
It also looked the same as the watch from his previous life.
Then another question came up.
Was this another watch which is already here before he came here to this world?
He then carefully searched his memory.
Though it was kind of cold, sweat formed on this forehead.
'Found it!'
Gon found out that this watch was already on him before the accident.
The vassal opened to watch and as result, his sleeping soul woke up. After that, the accident happened.
He then searched his memory again.
How did the vassal get hold of this watch?
Then his memory showed a scene to him. The scene was on the same day as the accident.
In that scene, he saw an old man in his 60s talking to him i.e., the vassal.
"Gon come here."
The old man was his grandfather, his face was similar to his father Lee Ho's face. Well…it's obvious that it's his father's father.
Gon was in his grandparent's place.
His grandfather then took him to a room. The room looked like a study room.
After both sat down his grandfather was looking at without saying, Gon did the same.
Remember this Gon is just the vassal, he is not the original Gon known to us.
'Sigh…'
The first the break the silence was his grandfather.
"Let grandpa tell you a story, a story even your father doesn't know. This story starts more than 100 years or more than that. During that time a person found something, a pocket watch. At first, he thought it was a normal watch like others but soon he found out he was wrong."
"It's a complicated story but I will make it simple. Due to this watch, he gained power and money. The watch also protected him and his family. After learning the wonders, that the watch can do, he was afraid of what will happen if it falls into the wrong hands. But soon he was at ease. He then learned that the watch will prevent itself from falling into other hands and choose a person as it chose him. The watch next pointed to the inheritor, it was his son. Like that from generation to generation, the watch got passed on inside the family from father to son, to son to his son like that."
"Then the watch became a family treasure as it got passed on from generation to generation. And this story was also told from generation to generation. This story is only known to the people who got the watch. Like this, a legend was born."
Then his grandpa smiled and continued after drinking some water.
"Do you remember the first person who found the watch? He is our ancestor. This story has come from generation to generation in our family. This was told by my father when I got the watch and I have seen with my own eyes what the watch is capable of. It has protected our family for many generations. I doubt will anyone believe this story if told outside. Maybe they will call me a crackhead. Hahahahaha!"
"I guess you are thinking why I am telling you all this right? My father told me when the time comes the watch will tell me to whom I should give this watch. I didn't understand at that time but now I know."
Though Gon was not responding, it didn't bother him.
"I guess the time has come. The watch pointed you. So, you will get our family treasure. Even though you are a 5-year-old and giving you the family treasure seems irresponsible, the watch pointed you so there is no problem giving it to you."
Then he reached out to his pocket and took out the watch. He slowly rubbed his fingers across the golden surface and he clicked the watch and it opened.
After seeing the time for one last time he closed it. This golden pocket watch has been with him for more than half his life. Now it is leaving him, he felt nostalgic.
It not the end but just the beginning.
"Here now this watch is yours. Keep it safe- well…even if you lose it the watch will find its way back to you so don't worry and remember don't tell this story to anyone. It's a secret between us."
Grandpa knows Gon is intelligent so he didn't make a big deal out of it.
Gon is his favourite grandson among many grandchildren. He is even more excited to see the results now that he got the watch.
He is looking forward to the future.
He also isn't worried about Gon's condition now, the watch is in Gon's possession… a miracle will happen and Gon will open up and talk to everyone.
After giving the watch to Gon, he stood up and slowly walked towards the door.
"Come let's go fast, if we are late for dinner your grandmother will scold me."
