Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE

*******The alarm clock screamed again and she slapped it away from the drawer beside her. "will you get up now young lady. You don't wanna be late for your first day of high school now do you?" her mother called from her bedroom door and she groaned "ugh! Mum, can't I sleep for few more minutes?" she yelled and raised the covers above her head, her mother came in and pulled the covers back "Tyler-Anne Winston, get up and go prepare for school right now!"

Tyler grumbled and jumped off from the bed, she headed for the bathroom stomping her feet along while her mother kept nagging.

"I have two kids and a fifteen year old baby, if I have to clean up after Anna and Julie who are just ten and six and a fifteen year old who has refused to grow up, then I may as well lose my sanity along the way. I don't really know what is wrong with you Tyler, I honestly don't understand you and even when I think I finally do, boom! You just show me a completely different side of you, I wish you'll try to be a bit more understandable...."

She ratted on and on while Tyler completely tuned out her mother's voice.

Tyler's POV

I curled my brown hair with my curling iron, picked out a black crop top, black mini skirt, black stockings, applied black lipstick, wore a pair of black shades and my black boots. Mum would probably nag me again about my choice of clothes but when have I ever cared what she says. She's always nagging me, I remember how furious she was when I pierced my nose and lower lip but all she did was yell not like her nagging and yelling would change anything anyway, plus I've learned to tune her out whenever she's yelling.

Now back to me, I'm feeling a little nervous about my first day of high school, my friends seem to have it all figured out, they seem ready and would totally crush high school but here I am totally freaking out. "deep breaths Tyler" I reminded myself as I take a good look at myself in the mirror. I frowned, something's missing. Aha! I grabbed my black biker jacket, perfect!

I stepped out of my room cautiously, tiptoed through the corridor and bumped into mom to my disappointment, she took one look at me and said one word "No!"

"I like it mum"

"And I don't care, you're not starting high school looking like...this" she said gesturing to my dressing "why not? You told me to always wear whatever I'm comfortable with no matter what anyone else thinks. So why should I let your opinion of my dressing matter...?"

"because I'm your mother Tyler..."

"It doesn't change anything...."

"Actually, it does" she said as she grabbed my arm and pulled me to my room. She made me sit on my bed and she began to rummage in my closet "get out of my closet mum!" I screamed at her "No. No child of mine is going to school looking like a dead plant among flowers!" I rolled my eyes in frustration "I'm not gonna wear anything else. It's either I wear this or nothing!" she stopped and turned to me with narrowed eyes "you wouldn't dare!"

"test me! You bring out another pair of clothes for me and I'm going to school with absolutely nothing on my body!" I fired back at her. Her blue eyes became bluer, she slowly dropped the clothes she was holding, shut my closet door and left my room without a word. I stood up from my bed feeling triumphant and headed out. Taylor and the girls would be waiting for me in Taylor's car by the bus stop.

"I'm off to school" I yelled not even waiting for a response as I shut the front door behind me. I bounced off ignoring the stares I was getting from passers-by.

My name is Tyler-Anne Winston and this is my story
