Chereads / Divine Source System / Chapter 22 - Killing

Chapter 22 - Killing

On a small valley, two figures could be seen standing on opposite sides. They weren't talking or even staring at each other. They seemed to be waiting for someone.

The one on the right was a brown-haired young man with a tall figure. Wearing warrior robes, he was staring in the distance.

As for the one on the left, he was a black-robed old man with a bald head and long white beard.

Suddenly, a black-haired young man wearing mage robes appeared on the small valley, forming a triangle with the two others.

After carefully analyzing them, Acheron sneered. He didn't stand on ceremony and cut to the chase.

"From now on, you shall prepare a tribute of seventy percent of the resources you gather. A lackey of our Arantara Alliance will pick it up every three years. I am open to hearing any complaints you two may have. Also you have to stop the war and begin focusing all of your manpower on gathering said resources." calmly explained Acheron.

"How dare you, a random nobody, act so arrogant in front of me, Je-?" said the brown-haired young man, seemingly furious.

Before he could finish his sentence, Acheron appeared behind him, delivering a ruthless punch straight in his back. He couldn't dodge, as Acheron's blow was a full-blown sneak attack. Not to mention the ridiculous speed from his broken second genetic lock.

The young man smashed through several trees before attempting to get up. As he was getting up, Acheron delivered another cruel kick, straight in his groin.

Screaming in pain, the young man is forced to fall back down. And before he could even think of a way to counterattack, the young man's head is stepped on. Acheron was obviously humiliating him.

"As you can see, this wouldn't have happened if you agreed immediately. Now I am forced to kill you for the sake of making an example out of you." said Acheron. Acheron knew the bald old man could hear him. So he was trying to express that he wouldn't act against him.

Acheron kept increasing the force in his foot. Slowly but surely, a cracking sound began to spread in the surroundings. Merely a moment later, the young man's head burst open, dying Acheron's boots red.

The old man was shocked at Acheron's prowess. The greatest genius he's ever seen was the young man that had just been killed, after all.

After returning to where the old man was, Acheron looks at him calmly.

"Do you also happen to have any advice or complaints towards the Arantara Alliance?"

"No-"

As the old man was beginning to speak, Acheron was already upon him.

'Another sneak attack. And I was planning on complying with his ridiculous demands. Obviously, he was planning on killing both of us from the start.' thought the old man.

They both performed a roundhouse kick, their legs smashing into each other. The old man was clearly much more experienced than the previous young man, even if they had similar cultivation. This won't be an easy fight for Acheron.

Punch after punch, kick after kick. Both of them seemed to have impregnable defense and offense. Everytime Acheron's limbs went into contact with the old man's body, the old man felt as if his vitality and Qi were constantly waning.

Finally, when the old man began feeling exhaustion overwhelming him, Acheron's punch smashes straight through his chest, his hand grabbing the old man's heart and furiously smashing it into mush.

They both stared into each others eyes, seeing each others emotions. Acheron's indifferent gaze looking straight into the old man's angry and sorrowful eyes as they slowly turned void of life.

Regardless of the old thing's emotions, Acheron wasn't affected. Since he had decided to end them, he did it quickly and efficiently, without allowing the childish notion of mercy to interfere.

Remembering the map received from his spaceship's scanner, he decides to set off towards the closest city with the most population.

During the small journey, Acheron didn't stop cultivating his magic core. With his second genetic lock being broken, his absorption speed has shot through the roof.

I ten days he reached Rank 3, the peak of Earthly Shackles, massively increasing his massacring efficiency. As for Rank 4, he couldn't casually enter it just yet. He needed to break the third genetic lock for a fast enough cultivation speed.

As for this planet, with the two strongest cultivators dead, he could rampage unhindered.

Finally reaching the city, Acheron doesn't stop to dawdle. Taking to the sky, he reaches the middle of the city immediately. After focusing as much mana as he could into Blood Explosion, he crazily unleashes it on the defenseless civilians.

In less than a few seconds, tens of thousands of people died, their bodies exploding into gore. Acheron is forced to stop. He had severely overestimated the efficiency of killing with this weak magic core. Forced to take matters into his own hands, he begins massacring in a more direct manner.

Every punch and kick turned multiple people into blood mist through overwhelming force and rampant Qi, not leaving anything behind.

Slowly, Acheron began realizing a new-found control over the vicious energy of the 'Banyan Devil Combat Art'. This control of life-devouring energies allowed him to spread them all over the city, sucking the life force out of everything in its path.

Thankfully, Acheron has previously tested where the devoured energy ends up. Although it stays in his body for a moment, temporarily amplifying it, the Divine Source System can still take priority as long as he wills it to.

Thus, as soon as the life force enters his body, the system gathers it immediately. This allowed him to continue his insane massacre without any worries.

Thirty minutes later, the ridiculous rampage was finished. With the large amount of life force absorbed, Acheron could find a place and begin breaking his third genetic lock.

"Life Force Gathered: 100%"

Acheron, without wasting even a moment to relax, immediately wills the system to break the next genetic lock.

A vortex of Qi began circling around him. Shockingly, the vortex was as big as dozens of kilometers.

Pain filled his senses, but it was basically nothing to him. This pain was as good as a mosquito bite in his eyes. The only annoyance was how long he would have to wait.

After he analyzed the system, he discovered that the time for each breakthrough would only become longer with each advancement. And of course, this time it took as long as two hours.

As soon as he finished, he began scanning his body with his third eye. He felt his physical strength has increased considerably. At this point, he was absolutely sure he could survive in space.

His mind became much more powerful, on the level of a computer. His sixth sense stemming from his third eye, not only became more vivid, but he could also send it farther away. Everything within five kilometers was in his grasp. From the smallest insects to the biggest trees.

In regards to his other senses, they also became more monstrous. At this point, many of his senses combined into a wonderful display of synesthesia.

Acheron easily noticed that another breakthrough was at hand. Next was the Spirit Transformation realm of cultivation. In this realm, one had to expand one's spirit body until it overlapped with the physical body. The spirit body was previously referred to as the Nascent Soul.

Despite the pending breakthrough, Acheron first had to find another region with sufficient environmental Qi. The current region was barren in regards to that.

After a few hours of travel, he sat down on the peak of a mountain, ready to continue his series of breakthroughs.
