Chapter 3 - First Genetic Lock

"Host name: Acheron"

"Race: Human"

"Genetic Locks Broken: None"

"Life Force Gathered: 100%"

"All living beings, including plants and astral bodies possess Life Force. The System collects everything naturally upon direct destruction"

"Past Life Message to New Me: In case you were wondering, it was you yourself who created this system after centuries of work, the past reincarnation you.

This system was built to take advantage of the Life World Source present in my universe. In other words, this system had gained complete control over the Life Law, merely needing certain energies in order to function.

Currently, you may have reincarnated into a completely different universe, where the laws may or may not be working completely differently from what I have experience with. My advice, or in this case, your own advice towards yourself is to keep your human lifeform intact and never bring any big modifications into it. After years of study, I've discovered that the human organism should be one of the best lifeforms nature has to offer and straying too far from the humanoid form will have grave repercussions on your future advancement, the extent of your compatibility with the various laws becoming warped. Humans are innately compatible with all laws, unlike other creatures in the universe. Your old world had many other species mashed together, including humans, all of which I've studied extensively.

Seek personal strength to your greatest ability, as this will be the only constant throughout your long life.

This message will be a constant throughout all of your reincarnations. If you have anything to add for the future you, feel free to change this message by willing the system to do so."

Acheron was stunned for a few good seconds. The information was a lot to take in. He never spared much thought to spiritual matters such as reincarnation and other crazy theories. But there wasn't any other good explanation other than some great being playing some psychic joke on him, which he wasn't willing to consider too much.

As for why his name stayed the same over a reincarnation cycle, he figured it was fate, karma, or something close to that.

Nevertheless, this wasn't the time to study this, as he felt it may bring him into unforeseen circumstances. He felt a bit excited about the genetic lock break feature, though for now he would have to swallow his excitement.

He quickly calms down and places the handgun back into his backpack, before exiting the room. He closes the door before walking at a slow pace so as to not attract suspicion. He might've been seen entering the room through a surveillance camera, but they most likely didn't notice him since there still wasn't any reaction. Thinking about this, Acheron speeds up his pace.

He manages to leave the building and quickly makes his way towards the alley, finding the duffel bag he left behind. Taking off the hoodie, mask, and the rest of his clothing besides his underwear, he switches them with his previously prepared clothing.

Taking out a lighter and some gasoline, he sets the contents of the dumpster on fire, getting rid of all evidence.

Returning to the safe house, he finally decides to take a chance at breaking the first genetic lock, which, apparently, only required the life force of one human life. Thankfully he didn't have to go on a rampage for his first genetic lock.

Thinking about how long he would have to wait if he didn't kill Edward, he feels thankful for taking the poor guy's life. The only other chance he would have at awakening the system would be on the battlefield, way ahead in his life.

Acheron quickly realizes where his future lies. If he wanted to keep fulfilling the requirements of the system, he would have to go to the battlefield. The best place where he can legally kill as many creatures as he needs.

After resting for a bit, he wills the system to begin breaking the gene lock.

"Initiating First Genetic Lock Breaking"

"1%"

As the process begins, Acheron quickly feels a searing pain throughout his entire body. It was as if millions of ants were biting every part of him, from his brain to his extremities.

Strangely enough, despite the pain, his mind was only getting clearer and clearer. The pain wasn't being numbed, it was just that his tolerance to it was increasing to unnatural levels.

Seconds become minutes. After roughly 15 minutes, Acheron feels the pain subside.

"99%"

"100%"

"Congratulations on breaking the First Genetic Lock! Good Luck on your path to power!"

Immediately after the counter hit 100% he felt a wave of comfort wash over him. Despite the increased tolerance to pain, it still felt unpleasant. Acheron immediately began focusing on his body. He felt an insane level of hunger sweep over him, as if his body was craving vast amounts of nutrients.

Ignoring the hunger, he felt his senses were much stronger than before. He could even close his eyes and move around merely based on his hearing. In fact, he felt amazing. He felt he could easily control his balance, and even perform various acrobatics. The possibilities his new body offered him seemed endless.

His mind was working faster, his breathing became deeper, even his heart was beating slower. After thinking of the benefits he's just obtained, he quickly moves towards the fridge.

A few minutes later, the fridge was completely emptied. His stomach became like a black hole, able to digest everything in mere minutes instead of the usual hours.

Calming down, he finally decides to check out the cultivation methods. His entire day was free for now, with his parents not willing to intrude too much in his private life.

The Human Coalition was a small gathering of humans in the universe, occupying merely a small portion of the vast Mona Galaxy. Although it could rise much faster if cultivation methods were made public, the greedy aristocrats would rather keep their authority and power intact rather than risk everything they have for the sake of humanity's future. The leaders of humanity are only willing to share the gift of cultivation with others only while attempting to brainwash them through the military academies.

This corrupt mentality allows the Human Coalition to remain stable, though remarkably weak in comparison to the surrounding powers. It pushes xenophilic ethics, hoping to maintain good relations with all surrounding forces.
