"I'm the first mage in my house since my great-grandfather."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, unfortunately this was the price we paid for intermixing two bloodlines."
"What?"
"You remember when I said that I have 2 Bloodlines right?"
I nod.
"Yeah, so these Bloodline traits, or Legacy Magic officially, are very rare. One person may only have one."
"I see."
Is Legacy magic that much of a big deal?
"I do not know much about how exactly it happened but what I do know is that my ancestor married the daughter of another true noble house, thus intermixing their genes and passing on two different Legacy magic. With me so far?"
"Yeah."
"This wasn't the first time someone tried something like this. Every other time the baby died a grisly death."
"Judging by how you're still here, that didn't happen here."
"Yeah, rather the chances of being a mage heavily declined."
"So, what are your Legacy magic?"
"An immense mana pool, multiple times greater than the average mage. And the ability to replicate and enhance any spell we've seen."
So that's how he was able to maintain it for that long. That's a pretty sick ability.
"How many times greater?"
"At least 10 times greater."
"Holy shit, that's a lot of mana!"
"Yeah, but it still has impurities so I can't really use all of it."
"What core stage are you?"
"Dark Yellow."
"I can't imagine what you'll be capable of after reaching white core..."
"I'm not sure I can reach white core. The lances are the only ones with a white core that we know of."
"Eh, you'll manage. You've got time. You're what 13?"
"Yeah."
"And you're dark yellow at the age of 13. I'll give you 5-6 more years till you reach White, or at least High Silver."
"You have a lot of faith in me."
"Well you have the potential for it."
Speaking about potential, could he copy nacht spells as well?
"Hey, think you can copy this?" I ask as I bring a small greenish-black flame into existence.
"I dunno, let me try."
He stares at it for a few seconds before the fire starts to flicker.
Damn I can't keep this up for long. It's extremely hard to control in this form.
"Yeah, I think I've got the hang of it."
Releasing a sigh of relief I stop infusing nacht.
"Go ahead." I say.
He furrows his brows, concentrating on casting the spell.
A few minutes later a small green flame lights up on his index finger.
Huh? It's different than mine.
He looks at it skeptically, likely coming to the same conclusion as me.
"Try to place it on one of your wounds." I offer.
He follows my instruction as he places the fire on one of his cuts.
He winced in pain as the fire settled on the wound, healing it.
While nowhere near the level of Tartarean Vitality it did heal his wound faster than normal.
A few minutes later his wound vanished with no trace of it ever being there bar the torn cloth soaked in blood. (As a side note, Tartarean Vitality would have taken less than 10 seconds.)
"It worked, but as a way weaker version."
"Don't be disappointed, you were able to use a watered down version Zeke's beast will's ability. I didn't think that was possible."
"Then why did you tell me to try it?"
"Curiosity... anyways you should go to the infirmary and get those checked out." I point at his bloodied uniform.
"Ah yes, I should do that shouldn't I?" He asks rhetorically as he stands up to go.
"Wait what about you?" He asks, glancing back.
"I'll be fine," I say as I begin healing the cuts along my torso with Tartarean Vitality.
"Oh, okay then. See you soon."
As he leaves the room I take off my seal.
"Alright time to melt all this ice, can't have anyone question how I conjured black ice,"

An hour later I was done.
"That was some ice. Took me a while to melt them all."
'And that was only infused with a small amount of nacht.'
'I know, imagine how hard the ice would be if I infused more nacht.'
'Very.'
'Come to think of it, I should be able to infuse other elements with nacht as well.'
'You should.'
'I'll have to test that later. For now, lets check up on Arthur.'
'Okay'

On the way to the infirmary I bump into Dad.
Taking a look at my condition he asks, "What happened?"
"A friendly spar."
He raises an eyebrow, "Spars don't usually get intense enough to cause that."
I scratch the back of my head and reply sheepishly, "Guess we got a bit carried away."
He snorts in amusement, "So, did you win?"
"Of course I did." I say, flashing him a toothy grin.
"That's my boy," He ruffles my hair
"Yeah, now lets go and check up on my idiot of a brother." I say before knocking.
"Come in."
Going inside the first thing I say is, "You look way better than before."
"Yeah, that I do." He replies before seeing Dad enter as well, "Hey Dad."
"I came to visit you." He replies in his usual enthusiastic tone.
Sitting down we keep talking with him, who fills us in on everything that's going on back home.
I can't help but feel dread, that something bad is going to happen.
I can't afford to lose my family like I did in my old life.
Neither do I want to go back to my old ways.
These moments I spend with my family strengthens my resolve to keep them safe at all costs.
"Hey Dad. How come Mom never really uses her magic? I mean she did heal small wounds for us when we were younger but that's it. I remember you telling us about her being a great emitter." Arthur broke me out of my thoughts.
Glancing to my father I notice his glum look.
Well that's a first.
Heaving a sigh our father speaks, "Your mother...she carries a heavy burden in her heart. I know you both are mature enough to know this, but I ask you to be patient. When she feels she's ready, she will tell you herself. So until then I want you to wait for her." He says as he pats Arthurs head.
"Will do Dad," I speak.
"How's everyone doing at home anyways?" Arthur changed the topic.
"Oh you know, your mother is busy mingling with her friends and-"
I tune him out as I ponder on what could've traumatized Mom to such an extent.
I could understand if she were a combat mage, but how can one be afraid of their own power of healing?
Tartarean Vitality, even if it inflicts pain while healing, does the job without any side effects.
But her emitter abilities?
They don't have any defects.
I guess I'll have to wait until she's ready then.
I come out of my musings just in time to notice Dad pinch Arthurs nose saying, "I should let you rest,"
"Yeah, you've still got a ways to go before you're completely healed." I comment as I get up.
"See you tomorrow," I wave at him before exiting with Dad.

Authors Note
So Nathans abilities have finally been revealed.
What do you think?
Too overpowered?
We see him being unable to copy nacht spells completely.
That's because he cannot control aether, only mana related spells.
His 'version' of Tartarean Vitality is basically the powers of an emitter.
As for his mana pool, its better explained as an ocean than a pool.
And he can't control it very much hence reducing the efficiency.
Think Naruto, he has immense amount of chakra but piss poor chakra control.
As for the hint I gave.
Uzumaki = Abnormal amounts of Chakra. (Mana in this case)
Uchiha = Sharingan, copy abilities.
I know they were pretty vague hints, but hey it's something.
Well anyways I'll publish a Fay vs Art fight later this week so be ready for that.
Regards.
Dark Descendant. (Or Erebus whatever you want. Erebus is easier to adress than Dark Descendant is it not?)
