The next day, I woke up as usual and started training. By the time it was lunch, my dad bought me 5 rats that he put in a cage.
I pitied the rats but science needs a sacrifice. I went outside just when I finished eating and took the box with me. I took one rat from it. It tried to resist me but I grabbed it firmly so it won't run away.
I get far from the cage and I held the rat in front of me and cast the sealing spell.
A whitish transparent box enveloped it, and even its eyes stopped blinking.
The sealing box was hanging above the ground containing the rat. It stayed hanging in the air without going down. I take my hand outside and I kept observing the rat for some time and then I undid the barrier.
The rat that was hanging in the air dropped down dead. I was shocked I didn't think that it would actually kill him.
I took another rat and did the same thing again but after 3 seconds, I undid the spell and it dropped dead again.
I did it one more time but for a second. The rat fell dead but when he landed on the ground I noticed that it regained consciousness and it darted off outside.
I let it go. I was busy figuring out what happened to it to make it go unconscious and not dead like the others.
Sure it was time, I trapped him for a shorter time, but what would make him lose consciousness. But then I realized something I neglected.
If I stop everything in there, that means I even stopped his heart from beating.
I was terrified, if I decided to test the spell on myself I would be dead instantly. I thanked god for sending mister Chrestos who himself warned me of trying spells on myself.
I was now thinking of a way to seal something without killing it while keeping the spell's sealing function.
An idea popped in my mind when I looked at the cage containing the rats. I don't need to seal all the space within the box; I just need to restrict the person in it from going outside.
I took a rock again, well all lives matter, so I have to make the preliminary tests on non-living things.
I imagined the same box from before but it was hollow in the inside. Meaning the space around the object would not be sealed meanwhile the same object won't be able to go out.
I placed the rock on my extended palm and I pictured the same box but a hollow version of it enveloping the rock.
I retract my hand and the rock dropped on the edges of the sealing box.
It was a success.
At least on a rock.
Now it was time for the live experiments. I was beginning to feel myself like a mad scientist.
I did experiments back on earth but not this way. We would send monkeys to space but I never did any chirurgical experiments on live beings directly.
I take the rat in my hand and perform the spell on him. And just like the rock, when I take my hand out, it dropped on the edge of the box.
This time, the rat was still moving. It kept trying to get out by ramming head first into the barrier, but all its efforts bore no fruit.
I kept staring at him for some time and it didn't die.
I decided to leave him there and get back to him the next evening.
I wanted to test something else.
The barrier didn't prevent anything inside from moving on its own except from getting out.
But I had something in mind.
I made a gate appear in front of me where it led inside the box. I placed it exactly inside the hollow place. The exit appeared naturally. I took a rock and threw it in. it passed safely and got in the box.
I concluded that if I seal a space mage capable of performing the gate, he would probably be able to escape on his own. Even sealing a normal mage would be pointless if they have a space mage capable of casting the gate.
But fortunately, mages who master space and are able to perform the spell are very few.
I tried to perform the gate inside a different part of the box, the space that was sealed but the gate wouldn't open.
I guess the seal even prevented special rifts from opening inside it. I even tried to open the gate where the box would be halfway inside it and it didn't open either.
Aside from space mages that are able to perform gate, I could think of only a single disadvantage of using this spell.
I had to make hand contact with the target. If someone had a great speed and keeps dodging me, I won't be able to perform the spell on him.
That's why I have to work on improving my speed. And that would be by working on the spell that enabled me to enhance my firepower and speed.
Being able to circulate mana would make me faster and physically more enduring, but that was an advantage that anyone who possessed mana had.
The spell I invented earlier would help me greatly by enhancing myself even more.
It felt that calling spells by "the spell that does that and the one that does that" very weird so I decided to give them names.
The spell that seals objects in a box with a hollow space would be: Solomon's Seal.
The other version that stops the living being's heart would be:
Solomon's Judgment.
The gate will have its normal gate name but the one that has the treadmill effect would be named:
Heaven's cannons.
The one with the sound breaking speed would be:
Heaven's death arrow.
I thought it would strike fear in my opponents. Well, anyone that would be hit by this attack would most likely be pierced and dead in no time.
The final one where I enhance my body with the treadmill effect would be called:
Hermes's coat.
The coat of the speedster himself, what could be a better name?
I now had 6 spells in my arsenal. Pretty good for just 3 weeks after awakening my affinities.
Well, technically they were just 3 but the different functions and designs made their effects way different from each other.
I was feeling good about myself and by dinner I went inside to eat and rest.
The next morning, I would see what happens to the rat inside Solomon's Seal and if it would be affected by staying for a long time inside the spell.
I was glad that I managed to create my own spell like Chrestos instructed and I would be showing it to him when we meet.
I won't be showing him Solomon's Judgment. I don't want him thinking of me as a monster. I can't still remember how terrified he was the time I casted the terrifying Heaven's death arrow.
And I think that the Seal would impress him very much. Heck, I was very surprise by myself. The uses of that spell were insane.
Even close quarter combatants would have to be very careful when fighting me. Even if they had someone who can perform the gate it would make the space mage lose mana quickly, and when they do they would lose.
If I couple that spell with sneak attacks and great maneuverability granted to me by stepping in gates and appearing somewhere else in the battlefield would me a difficult opponent to deal with.
Fu-fu-fu An evil laugh escapes me. I am becoming terrifyingly strong, or so I think.
I still don't have an idea of how much strong other people are.
The next morning, I did my usual routine. While I was running around the house, I saw the rat still moving. He was still alive, good.
I finished my morning exercises and went inside to have my lunch. Apparently the rat was still alive, that means the spell was a success. And now I was thinking of a way to improve my fighting style.
I had Heaven's cannons as a medium range attack. The long rage was Heaven's death arrow. For close quarter combat I had the Solomon spells. And gate for transporting myself.
My dad told me that I would be practicing combat with him in the last month and a half so that would help me too.
I still lack a spell that lets me deal with many opponents at the same time. But nothing came to mind.
I decided to improve my use of the gate spell. I was thinking of a way that would let me link many gates together meaning a single gate would lead me not to one exist but more.
I think that it would greatly improve my Heaven's Cannons spell and it would make my enemies time figuring what gate I am coming from very difficult. Two birds with one stone.
