'You can join us', annie said. 'Why not, but where to celebrate'- kate replied (annie's classmate). 'We will decide later, have to go home. Mom wants me to come soon, take care see you soon'. Annie left school compound in a hurry after checking the message on her phone screen.
'I am back mom', annie smiled as she untied her shoe laces.
'Welcome back honey', mrs maya passed genuine smile back.
Mrs Maya, Mr gopal and annie lives in an apartment in New York. Annie's father is a business man . He also works in real state office.
Since few days gopal business is in loss. And this affects his real states too.
'How your exam was ?' maya asked.
'It was good, i gave my best', Annie replied.
Annie wanted to ask why she texted her to come back soon.
'Any plan for tomorrow evening ?' Maya inquired.
'Yes, we wanted to celebrate tomorrow as tomorrow is our final paper. Anything special tomorrow ? Why you texted me to come back soon ?
'Cancel your plans for tomorrow and ..
'But mom ...' annie's interrupted maya.
' Honey let me finish. Look we are facing financial problems. We don't have money to pay rent for apartment and i came to know your father is on drugs. We can't live here prosperously. I asked help from your grandma who lives in Nepal she wanted us to go there and live with them'.
'I didn't expect this a day before my sixteenth birthday', annie left home wiping her tears.
'Hey annie. Its me kate. Have you decided where...'
'I am not coming to the party.' annie hang up the phone.
Annie is standing in her school compound then she went to her favorite game station. She visited those places where she love to spend times as she know she is never coming back here. Reddish sun indicated that darkness is soon going to overshadow the natural light. Street lights were on. Annie is sitting on a bench and wondering something. Suddenly phone rings, she picked up the phone, her mom is worried where she is and wanted her to come home. Annie hang up the phone.
'Where were you?' maya asked emotionally.
'Mom.'
'Yes dear.'
'I m ready to go to Nepal, i know we are never coming back here so i want to celebrate my birthday with my friends last time.'
'Sure baby. I will arrange everything for them. Call them.' maya smile can be easily noticed.
'Thank you mom, i will call my friends. When we are leaving? '
'Tomorrow. Tomorrow 6 PM.'
'Okay i should pack my bag.'
Annie invited her friends and started packing her bag.
Its 9 PM, all her friends are here. Everyone wanted to know why she invited them a day before her birthday.
Annie entered the hall. She dressed like a princess. She cut cake, everyone wished her happy birthday. She thanked everyone.
Kate along with a smart boy entered. That boy was quite handsome, he had a wrapped gift with him.
'I know its weird to wish before birthday but happy birthday annie', boy wished.
'Thank you.'
'Here is small gift for you,' boy stretched his hand to hand over the gift he bought for her.
'So sweet of you, thank you.'
'Hey beautiful, looking damn pretty. Happy birthday, he is my friend from music class. He wanted to come to your birthday party so i brought him here. Sorry for that,' kate said
' Haha, nothing like that i am happy he came here.'
'But i am still confused why you celebrated your birthday a day before ? Kate asked.
Annie's mom and dad entered the hall with annie's sixteenth birthday gift.
Annie is excited to know what her parents bought for her.
Everyone eyes turn wide when they saw brand new iphone.
Annie shout ' oh my goodness, i wanted it since last month, finally. Thank you. Thank you so much mom dad.'
'Anything for you my darling' You guys celebrate. Make the last day more memorable.' both left the hall.
Everyone is confused. What does her mom meant by last day. And why annie celebrated her birthday before her birthday.
Annie stand on a table and announced that she is leaving New York tomorrow. We are going to our grandma house. And we might not come back.
'No, you can't leave us like this. Please don't go. Annie's close friends cried by hugging her. They wanted to make this day memorable so they danced, sang , ate and enjoyed alot.
Everyone is leaving one by one as few parents came to receive their children and few parents texted them to come back soon.
The clock is showing 11 PM. Everyone left except kate. Kate wanted to stay with annie so kate parents allowed her to stay at annie's house.
They talked, laughed, cried by remembering old past days.
'HAPPY BIRTHDAY,' kate wished loudly.
Its 12 AM. Actual birthday of annie. Maya and Gopal entered annie's room with a birthday cake. They cut the cake again. Annie mom reminded her about her tomorrow exam and said her to sleep.
Annie and kate slept after cake cutting.
Its 7 AM. Mom i m getting late, hurry up.
Maya wanted to visit principal office before they leave New York.
As annie entered her school. Her friends wished her happy birthday and gifted her something as her farewell gift.
Maya returned home after talking with principal and told annie to come straight to airport from school.
