Chapter 9 - The Enemy Within

"Oi! Get back here!" Goldie shouts whilst running after London

"Try and catch me now!" London said running around, whilst sticking his tongue out at Goldie.

"OH JESUS!" London screamed falling over the couch.

Goldie snorts and laughs. London throws a pillow at Goldie.

"Shut up, no one likes you." London jokingly said whilst laughing.

"Is someone grumpy?" Goldie asked, helping London up.

"I don't wanna go so school!" London shouts and crosses his arms.

"Well you have to. We both can't avoid it." Goldie said, making a point.

"Uhg, you're right as always." London said, laughing.

Goldie puts on his suit and they turned into their different "personas".

"Hey, guys." Galaxy said while putting a coat on.

Goldie looks at Galaxy then turns his back to her. He clenches his fist very tightly. She notices right away.

"I'm sorry..." Galaxy said with her head down.

London looks at both of them with wide eyes, then tries to start a conversation.

"So, uh, its pretty stormy outside, yeah?" London said nervously.

"Heck yeah, it is." Goldie said, putting London on his shoulders.

"I'm gonna use you as my umbrella!" Goldie said laughing.

"Hey, I am not an object. I am downright fabulous." London jokingly said.

"That's the spirit. Let's get out there before the storm gets too bad." Goldie said, completely ignoring Galaxy.

All of them go outside. It's completely pouring rain, but luckily they got jackets. Goldie teleports all of them to the school but again walking just a little bit so nothing looked suspicious. They enter the school. Goldie takes London off his shoulders and notices his jacket is sopping wet.

Goldie snickers. London smiles really big.

"Oh no. Don't you even-" Goldie said.

London takes the jacket off and shakes it, getting Goldie and Galaxy wet.

"When I get my hands on you." Galaxy said holding up a fist.

"You'll have to catch me first, sucker." London said getting ready to run from Galaxy's wrath.

Galaxy sprints full speed as London gets a head start.

"REEEEEEEEEEEEE!" London shouts at full volume.

Galaxy catches London.

"What was that about you saying I had to catch you first?" Galaxy mockingly asked.

"Hmph." London grunted turning his head away from Galaxy.

"Well we don't want to be late for our next class." Galaxy said.

Goldie walks straight past her, ignoring her existence entirely.

London looks at Galaxy with a disappointed face.

Galaxy mouths to London that she doesn't know why he's so upset with her. London nods and catches up with Goldie.

"Alright, class. Today we are going to learn how to say past tense verbs in Spanish." Mrs. Raulston happily said.

Goldie notices the pink ring on Mrs. Raulston's finger. His eyes widen as he realizes that a stream of pink light went out of the house as did a purple one.

After class, Goldie walks to Mrs. Raulston and starts making conversation.

"That's a very lovely ring you got there." Goldie said pointing at the ring.

"Oh, thank you!" I don't know where it came from. It just appeared on my hand one night, but I never questioned it. Anything is possible in this crazy world." Mrs. Raulston said, looking down at the ring.

She spots Goldie's yellow ring and looks at hers.

"You have one almost exactly like mine. Except yellow." Mrs. Raulston pointed out. Goldie notices a metal pen floating in the air.

"What are you staring at?" Mrs. Raulston said looking behind her.

She notices the pen floating in mid-air. Her eyes widen.

"Wha- I- HUH?!" Mrs. Raulston abruptly said.

A student walks in. Goldie grabs the pen and shoves it down.

"Here you go Mrs. Raulston! Here's my homework assignment you asked for!" The student said.

"Thank you, dear. Go on and go to break. I'm speaking with someone at the moment." Mrs. Raulston said, pointing at Goldie.

The student leaves.

Goldie's ears flatten and give Mrs. Raulston a glare. She notices right away.

"What?" Mrs. Raulston asked.

"You said that like I was in trouble or something." Goldie responded.

"Well you clearly aren't so let's get back to this floating pen." Mrs. Raulston said, quickly changing the subject.

Goldie lets go of the pen and it floats back up. Mrs. Raulston looks at her cabinet. The pen starts slowly moving towards the cabinet.

She gasps. Other metallic objects start floating towards the cabinet.

Her eyes widen.

"Oh my- Do I have metal powers?" Mrs. Raulston asked.

"Wow, you pieced that together fast." Goldie said with his ears going back to normal.

"Go, I wanna see if I can control this." Mrs. Raulston said happily.

Goldie walks out of the room and then he notices a small group of children staring at him.

He stares back nervously.

"Why do you look like a bear? You have fur and everything..." One of the children asked.

"Erm...I have a rare disease that makes me look like a bear?" Goldie hesitantly replied.

"Oh ok. That makes sense." The child responded.

"What happened to your eyes?" One of the other children asked.

"These are um..- glass eyes? I'm blind." Goldie replied.

"That makes sense." The other child said.

The group of children walks off as Goldie pretends he's blind until he gets to the next corner.

Galaxy and London are staring at him when he walks around the corner.

"What the hell was that?" London laughed.

"Look, they asked me about my appearance so I had to use excuses."

"We saw." Galaxy said.

Goldie's ears flatten again. He glares at Galaxy then walks past her.

"Jeez. He does not like you right now." London said, stating the obvious.

"I think I know why..." Galaxy said, hanging her head down.

"Why?" London asked.

"When I went back to my room the night we got our powers, Entity told me in a dream that he was coming for us. And we would all suffer if we didn't fall under his command. I told him we'd all die before joining with him and he took it literally. I knew he was coming I just didn't think it would've been so soon. I didn't protect you and now Goldie is probably very angry at me for one, not telling them that Entity was coming, and that two, I let you get extremely hurt." Galaxy explained.

"Galaxy, you did your best to protect me. You woke me up when I nearly fell unconscious then when I actually did get punched I didn't immediately go out. I heard what you said. You aren't a terrible sister. You did your best." London reassured.

Galaxy hugs London full force.

"You're such an idiot." She said, crying.

"I know." London said, putting his hand on Galaxy's head.

Math class starts and Goldie again notices the purple ring on Mrs. Smith's finger.

Slightly electrical crackling is heard.

"Ah...sorry class. This has been happening all day." Mrs. Smith said angrily.

The computer and projector glitch out and turn off.

Class ends and Goldie has the same conversation with Mrs. Smith. She pieces together pretty quickly that she can control electricity.

As school ends, everyone goes home, and then turmoil ensues.

As London and Galaxy walk through the door, they change back to normal.

"Hey, Goldie?" London asked.

"Yeah, what's up?" Goldie replied.

Galaxy walks through the door

"Why are you so angry at Galaxy?" London asked.

Goldie takes a few minutes to respond.

"She let you get hurt. I'm more angry at the fact she didn't tell us Entity was coming." Goldie angrily replied.

"You know, it's kind of hard to deal with you and your anger when you think everything I do is on purpose." Galaxy defensively replies.

"Maybe none of this would've happened if you told us Entity was coming for us!" Goldie yelled.

Darla and Scarlett enter the living room.

"Look, you are not thinking about this logically-" Galaxy said being interrupted.

"LOGICALLY?! YOU WERE THE ONE WHO NEVER TOLD US THAT ENTITY WAS COMING TO KILL US!" Goldie yelled.

"I didn't think he was gonna act on it!" Galaxy yelled back.

"AND LOOK WHERE THAT GOT YOU. LONDON SERIOUSLY INJURED AND US NEARLY KILLED!" Goldie yelled again.

"THAT'S IT! IS LONDON THE ONLY PERSON IN THIS HOUSEHOLD YOU CARE ABOUT? I HOPE TO REMIND YOU THAT DARLA THREW ME AT HIM AND WE COLLIDED MID-AIR YOU DON'T THINK THAT WAS PAINFUL FOR ME?!" Galaxy screamed at full volume.

"W-well, I..." Goldie hesitated.

"EXACTLY. YOU NEVER CARED ABOUT ME, DARLA, OR SCARLETT. YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR DAMN BOYFRIEND!" Galaxy screamed again.

"Galaxy..." Goldie started.

"NO! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES. Just leave me alone. It's not like you cared enough to give a damn anyways..." Galaxy sadly said.

Galaxy walks out of the living room and into her room.

Goldie turns to London, Darla, and Scarlett only to notice that they were eating popcorn on the couch. They all get wide eyes.

"Want some?" Scarlett hesitated.

Goldie facepalms and angrily sighs. He walks out of the room and towards Galaxy's room.

"Don't even think of coming in here." Galaxy said before Goldie could even reach for the door.

"How did you know I was even coming towards your room..." Goldie asked, vividly freaked out.

"You have heavy footsteps. You're an 8-foot tall bear. I can hear you coming from a mile away." Galaxy responded with her head tucked between her legs, huddled in the dark corner.

"Well can these heavy footsteps come in?" Goldie asked.

Galaxy quietly snickers and the door slightly opens. Goldie didn't know it was already unlocked.

"Look..." Goldie started. "I do care about you. I really do. You always know how to have a good time. I always thought you wanted your space. I had no idea thats how you felt about-" Goldie attempted explaining before being interrupted.

"YOU HAD NO IDEA?! THIS IS LIKE- MY ENTIRE MENTAL STATE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE. YOU PROBABLY THINK I HAVE SOME SERIOUS ISSUES!" Galaxy shouted.

"No, no! You're not the one with the issues you're just an amalgam of those...big issues..." Goldie stopped after realizing what he said.

Galaxy gives him an intense glare.

"No, that's not what I meant. I-" Goldie pauses.

"You're a good thing. You have a reason for being here. I am just here because I didn't want to leave London or you behind. I could've easily teleported away to a better life, but I stuck with you guys." Goldie said.

"I wanted to be here. You're one of the good things that came of this whole mess." Goldie said walking up to Galaxy.

Goldie puts his hand out towards Galaxy.

"So why don't we keep it that way?" Goldie said.

Galaxy snorts and laughs

"Come here, you fluffy idiot." Galaxy said, with tears running down her face.

Galaxy hugs Goldie and he hugs her back.

"I'll protect you as well. Till the end of time. Even if it means death." Goldie added.

Galaxy realized what she said about London the night before and began profusely sobbing.

"Woah. hey. what's wrong?" Goldie asked with concern in his voice.

"I said the same thing about London after you walked away from me the night before. I heard your conversation with him and it made me realize that I need to be a better sister..." Galaxy said with the waterworks still going.

"First off, stop eavesdropping on us, second off, I'm glad you realize your wrong and I realized mine." Goldie stated.

"Never, you, fluffy dimwit." Galaxy said crossing her arms.

"So, you two finally made up." Darla said poking her head in.

"You three have been listening the whole time haven't you?" Goldie asked with clear annoyance in his voice.

"Yeah..." London, Scarlett, and Darla said at the same time.

"Well, I think we should all get some rest. Today has been a very eventful day." Goldie said whilst motioning to everyone to go to their rooms.

Everyone proceeds to go to their room and get ready for bed. Soon everyone is asleep. This time, everyone has gone to sleep happy.
