Chapter 29 - Kill the Roguish Maestro

"This is the main street to Yorthendon. You have the map memorize, right?" Dave said as they stepped at the gate of Yorthendon.

"Yeah, I know it." Mizuki said but his thought were far off from their conversation.

Dave noticed that he's having some deep notion about something in particular.

"Mizuki, about Jeruzen's past… His father was one of the most respected general in Nethilor and was assigned in Yorthendon, that's where Jeruzen lived his life as a child. He admire his father more than anyone and vowed that he will become a great knight just like his father. However, Zancrow, the second general in command envy him for the attention he got from the people. He secretly murdered Jeruzen's father and latter buried the secret about his crime. Jeruzen witnessed the tragic death of his father. That is why he left the service being a junior knight of the kingdom and joined Midnight Justice, which truly fought for citizens." Dave explained. "That is why you cannot blame him the attitude he had shown earlier. I'm sure you, understand."

"I was only thinking everyone's safety. After what I did from the previous battle, I felt bad for dragging everyone in a bad situation." Mizuki said.

"Well, I know you're only doing what you think is best." Dave pat his back. "Good luck on your mission. I'll be going now." He said and disappears inside the alley between the buildings.

The sun was already setting and any time soon it will be dark. However, the darkness of the night seem to be not associated with the elegant city, Yorthendon. The streets across the entire city were filled with lights and busy people passing by.

Mizuki was mesmerized by the beauty of Yorthendon. The lights were like a pile of dozen crystals attached unto the wall of the buildings. What his eyes saw before him was very much alike from where he came from. The city sure is busy and filled with bustling people even though it's rush hour.

Following the mapped he examine earlier, Mizuki made his way through the streets and alleyways of Yorthendon. After a few turns around the corner of every streets, he found himself standing at the front of Fenniken Theatre.

At that time of the night, the theatre were having a play and were exposed to hundreds of guest that have come to watch. He tried to enter the said theatre and was blocked at the entrance.

"Excuse me, do you have a ticket for the show?" An average size man asked him before he even have a chance to enter the theatre.

Even though he had any idea about what the man was saying, Mizuki did not tend to answer.

"I'm sorry but you cannot proceed if you don't have the ticket. Please stepped outside calmly."

Mizuki did not listen to what the man was saying and just stood there pretending that he is waiting for someone.

"Please walk outside gently or we'll take someone to escort you forcibly." The man warned him.

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I believe someone I was looking was inside the theatre. I will just wait for him outside." He falsely told the man.

After few hours of waiting, the guest were coming out from the theatre in a large number. The show have indeed come to an end and the theatre was closing. He discreetly stood by the post at the other side of the street and wait for William to come out.

It took him several minutes of waiting until William comes out of the theatre. He was so elegant and rich in his completely black attire, wearing a black swallow-tail coat, long black pants, black top hat, silky shiny black shoes, walking cane, gold watch and a stylish mustache beneath his nose.

Mizuki secretly follows him across the street.

"Phew… After a busy day at the theatre, a massage at the spa sure hits the spot." William muttered.

"Um.. William, sir?" Mizuki said from behind.

"Huh?" William turned around.

"There is something I would like you to hear."

"What is it? Say it?" William was curious to hear what it is.

Mizuki turned his head and look around. "It shouldn't be in public." He said.

"Hmm?"

And so the two move their conversation inside an empty alley.

"Hey, kid. This place should be fine." William said from behind.

"Right, yes." Mizuki muttered.

After a few moment of silence, he suddenly knelt down in front of William.

"I beg you! Please recruit me into your theatre." He cried. "It was my dream to perform in front of thousands of people and inspire them with my music."

"I figured it was something like that." William exhaled. "Go through the normal application process, idiot!" He said as he turned his back and walked away.

"Wait! Please listen to my composition just once!" He beg him.

Mizuki took out his violin placed it gently above his shoulder. He carefully fiddle the strings with the bow to create a melodramatic sound. Upon hearing the lovely tune, William stopped on his feet. He turned his head and watch Mizuki plays the tune.

Mizuki carried out the tune and slowly elevates the music's rhythm. He increase the speed and balance the tempo to create a much more lively tune. William was satisfied about Mizuki's performance and a smile carved on his face.

Abruptly, something pungent pierced William from behind. It was Mizuki casting his move as the music distracts the roguish maestro. The pain gradually increased as it burrows through his body. Eventually, it made a hole to the other side of his physique. It was a stalk full of sharp thorns which were originally summoned from the ground behind William and eventually climb up his body, A red flower blooms on the tip of it, it was a rose.

"I… I bet you're part of the organization that opposes the authorities." He stuttered. "You're a member of Midnight Justice, aren't you?"

As Mizuki continues fiddling his violin, more roses had sprouted on Williams body. The excruciating pain and severe blood loss killed him eventually. His earthly body stood there like a tree of thorned roses, yet deprived of life.

"That was easy." He said as he come to end the music he's playing.

'Now then… I wonder how Jeruzen was doing with the other target.' He thought.
