Chapter 22 - There Must Be Something

What Aiden said made him even more furious yet confused about what the king meant on the last words.

Aiden draws out his sword and was about to decapitate Mizuki when something fall from the sky. More like someone, not something. It was Zhia and Marjorie.

"Combined Attack: Dance of the Mist!" A huge wave of mist exploded in the area that blinds the enemy. It was Marjorie's ability to create fog, making it hard to see them or anything. While the mist was active, they used it to fight, hit and move around the area freely as their foes cannot see them. Zhia dances in conjunction with her scythe to clear the enemies in range making them fall back and Marjorie takes care of the enemies from afar with the help of her arrows.

With the interference of the ladies, Mizuki got out of Saiph's grasp. However, he was so stubborn that he hardly want to get revenge. Marjorie tried to pull him out of there but he was resisting and insist to fight them alone.

"Uhh---!" Mizuki released a short sound when something hit his neck from behind and latter he falls unconscious.

"Sorry. This is not necessary but you leave me no choice." Marjorie hit him hard enough at the back of his neck that made him fall asleep.

Afterwards, they used the mist as a diversion to blind their foes so they can escape.

"Diversion!" Isidore immediately activated the teleportation spell as soon as they got ahold of Mizuki.

"Do you think we will let all of you escape that easily?" Someone spoke unseen from the middle of the mist.

"Tempest Wind!" It was Zeta. She released a strong blow of winds that pushed away the mist out of the area.

"Oh shit!" The only thing that comes out of their mouth as the six members of Orion rushed and launched attacks before their very eyes. Isidore was fixed on completing the teleportation. Likewise, there is not enough time for Zhia and Marjorie to execute an attack or defend their selves unharmed. They just stood there frozen in startlement by the unexpected attack.

In conjunction of the opponent's dash and charging attack towards them, Chaneri could only scream out of fear and nervousness with her eyes close. She scream so loud and adrenaline rush happen.

In conjunction with her scream, a very strong wave of energy emits from her body that sends and pushed the enemy away from them. The walls and damaged objects at the surrounding were forcibly fall flatten on the ground.

Isidore, Marjorie, and Zhia were surprised to witness what she had done. Chaneri opened her eyes to see that there is no one in front of them and that is none of them were harmed.

"What happened?" She was puzzled about what did really happened.

"You happen!" Marjorie exclaimed.

"Great job, Chaneri." Even Isidore applauded her yet she had no idea.

Zhia just smiled and embraced her in her arms. "You did good."

Afterwards, the teleportation was a success and they were sent back to Mt. Brimlet. Or at least that is what they thought it would be.

"What the freak did just happen?" Meissa shook her head off from the pile of block and bricks that have fall unto her upon the unexpected collision of the energy that emits from Chaneri's body.

All of them individually tries to get back on their feet. They have not expected such immense power from a mere child. Not only she thwart the elite knights away but she also did damages from the structures erected around the area and killed multiple lives from the empire's troops.

"I know it! That's why the rebellions are so stubborn to go against the rule. They have a trump card hidden under their sleeves." Bellatrix uttered.

"That child have no consciousness and control over the power she possess, however she's still a hindrance. We have to kill all of them as soon as possible." Zeta commented.

"Easier said. If we could do that, we wouldn't have this much difficulty." Epsilon interrupted.

"They're just lucky to have escaped today, sister. That's all there it is." Zeta replied back.

"And not just that, we've lost two of our comrades today." Epsilon added.

"Well, we cannot do anything about it, it's their fault for being weak. The weak always lose in the battle." Delta butted in.

"But sister, Hatysa and Tabith are our ally. How can you say that?" Epsilon confronted her.

"Even so. There is nothing we can do about their deaths." Delta said.

Meanwhile at the back, Aiden and the commander general of Ember Flare are having a conversation of their own.

"What happened back there, your highness?" the commander general asked.

"It is clear they have a psychic on their team. We must strengthen are forces." Aiden muttered.

"That is not what I meant, sire." The commander general said that made the king's eyebrows frowned in confusion. "Back there when you were confronting the Lunarian, you were so terrified. But why?" he asked curiously.

The king walks toward him with eyes like those of a savage beast ready to kill their prey. "There is nothing wrong back there. Maybe you were just imagining things." Aiden said with his face so close to the general that he almost recoiled back. "Besides, know your place Theo." He warned him not to interfere.

"Yes, your highness." Theo answered right away.

Until now, the expression was still present at Aiden's face. He knew who that Lunarian was. There is no mistake from it. All those years he thought he already eliminated every single one of the Lunarians when he invaded Velaris, seven years ago. He feared that one day, that child will seize him for the thirst of revenge. And beside from that, what he feared was the mystery and puzzlement he was trying to hide for almost a decade. A chill run down his spine as he dig deeper within his thoughts.

"General Theo?" He looked back at him. "What happened to my order seven years ago to eliminate all of the Lunarians?" He said with a devilish tune.

The commander general got terrified by the mood of the king. "I-I… It was a mistake your highness. I thought that kid had died when they jumped down that waterfall. I beg for an apology, your highness." He pleaded for forgiveness about his negligence.

"Next time, you should do better. Or I will!" Aiden threaten him with eyes filled with intimidation.

The general just bowed and did not answered back.

"Bellatrix!" Aiden called Bellatrix from the crowd. "Gather, the Orions for a search party on the whereabouts of those rebellions." He ordered her.

"But sire, shouldn't we wait for Rigel and Betelgeuse to return from the highlands?" She complained.

"There is no time for that, it will take weeks before they well be able to return here in Nethilor. We have to execute a search party right away before they will be able to recruit more ally." The king insisted.

"Your command is always obeyed, King Aiden." Bellatrix bowed and knelt before him. However, under those long strands of hair was a curious expression written on her face. She senses that the king became restless upon encountering that Lunarian before.

'There must be something going on here that he desired to conceal.' She thought. 'I just hope my intuition were wrong.'
