Chapter 20 - This May Be The End

"What's wrong?" An average size man around the age of thirty asked the child who seems to be distracted looking from afar. They are on a steep mountain covered in snow very far away from Nethilor to the north. They are on their way to the other side of the mountain when the child was distracted by something.

"It seems my puppet had freed out from my enchantment." The child respond looking towards the direction of Nethilor and a psychotic smile carved on his face.

Back to Nethilor, Mizuki and the others were on the conduct of finding Zhia deeper inside the dungeon's labyrinth now that Marjorie is already with them. Meanwhile, the rest outside the plaza were not really having a good time.

"What's taking them so long?" Maku said trying all his might to shield the three of them from the never ending series of elemental attacks that surrounds them.

"From the looks of it, it looks like we're winning." Tabith uttered that latter follows a laugh.

"It's still too early to jump into conclusion. The battle is not over yet." Dave replied.

The two continues to dance with their blades across the battlefield. Both of them are determine to win the fight. Dave jumps quickly into the air and manage to land a kick on Tabith's face that made the madman recoiled in excruciation.

Dave disappeared in a glimpse out of nowhere. Tabith looked and roam his eyes around the vicinity but there was no sign of him. Then, a strong blow smashed him from above that made him vomit some blood forcibly. The ground below cracks due to the strong energy being released from the attack.

"You're tough but too slow." He swayed his sword towards Tabith disarming the madman's dual weapon out of his hands. "And that is your weakness." He pierced him with the sword right through his chest and the blood starts to drip off Tabith's mouth.

"H-how could y-you?" He stuttered in extreme pain catching his breath.

"You talk too much, feminine guy." He whispered to his ears as their body rubbed each other. He then draws his sword out of Tabith' body and sliced through his neck unmercifully. "See you in the afterlife."

"Ugh." The only noise he made when his head departed from his body.

'How unfortunate for me to experience such a horrible death.' Those were the last words that had cross over his mind before his head and body dropped dead on the ground.

Dave swung his sword that forcibly removed the tint of blood out of it. He then march across the ruins toward the elemental mages who's been toying Maku, Balthazar and Faye helplessly.

"You're finished already Tabith?" Zeta uttered when she felt someone's presence behind her. To her surprise, it was not Tabith who she had expected to be when the sword swings behind her which she immediately evaded.

The three were surprise by the emergence of Dave from behind that made them wonder. They quickly took a glance towards the direction where Tabith and Dave was fighting earlier and found Tabith's cold decapitated body lying on the ground. "

"Well, it can't be help. That's his fault for being weak." Delta uttered with no remorse on her face. "The weak is destined to lose in the battlefield."

"Hmm? Another flea wants to get beaten, huh?" Epsilon said as her body starts to form from the liquid droplets that have scattered around.

Out of nowhere, a lightning struck between them that baffles and breaks their attacks.

"Did I miss anything?" It was Jeruzen who decided to show up after the duel with Hatysa. "This would look like a great souvenir to take home." He said while showing a single leaf of white feather he is holding in his hand.

"So Hatysa has been defeated as well?" Zeta uttered. "Then I guess everything is up to us, sisters."

"You better save your prayers." Jeruzen jolted, clinching his fist. "I don't give any mercy, even if you're all women."

The elemental trio were outnumbered and the tension between both the groups keep rising. It was clear that the victor will be the Midnight Justice.

Little did they know, a huge number of chevaliers are on their way. It was Ember Flare, the second high ranking elite group of knights (next to the Orions), who specializes on fire magic.

The troops were being led by the king himself, Aiden. Riding on his royal horse, he marched across the streets of Nethilor to suppress the rebellions who are now dealing damages within the area of the plaza.

"Aim, fire!" An attack was ordered by the commander general who's riding on his horse covered with armor and cuirasses next to the king.

The troops obeyed the order without any hesitation. Balls of flames rained across the plaza targeting defiant.

"Watch out! Take cover!" Dave shouted when he senses the large number of enemies approaching.

The scene were burning like hell. Everything within the area were set ablaze and dark smokes start to emerge and cover the whole place.

The groups were yet to be seen. Perhaps, they have been caught and perish along the attacks. Or so that's what they thought.

Meanwhile, Mizuki and the others heard the explosion outside from above. The labyrinth itself, rumbles and shakes due to the impact. Small debris and dross fall from the hole and cavities of the roof. Anytime soon if it receives more damage, the dungeon might collapse burying them alive inside.

"We have to find Zhia quickly and get out of here fast. We cannot waste any more time for the enemies are increasing in numbers." Isidore said.

"I think, I know exactly where she is. If only we could burst our way out of here." Marjorie introduced.

"Leave that to me!" Mizuki interposed.

"Stretching Strike!" A humongous thorny stalk burst out open from the ground. It grows rapidly and eventually destroys the roofs and floors above.

"Grab on!" Mizuki yelled as he grabs the vines and leaves that will propel them to the topmost floor of the dungeon. The others followed as each of them grabs a single vine. The plant was so strong that the tip of it exceed and burst out above the plaza.

"This is the floor where we have been separated." Marjorie said. They were just inches below the ground. "She must have run towards the dungeon's arsenal just like what we have planned." She added.

"Then, let's get going." Isidore said. And so they run towards the arsenal across the confusing and jumbled passageways.

"Wait, where's Mizuki?" Isidore asked when he noticed that Mizuki wasn't there with them.

"He must have already gotten out of here when he burst out together with the giant stalk above the plaza." Chaneri answered as they continues to run without stopping.

When they arrived at the arsenal, they've caught up with Zhia wiping out some chevaliers assigned to guard in the repertoire.

"Corrosive Dance!" She dances across the room swaying and spinning her oversize scythe back and forth that corrode the opponents one by one.

"You're perfectly just in time." Zhia smiled as soon as she saw Marjorie entering the arsenal. "Here's your bow and arrow." She handed Marjorie's weapon.

"Zhia!" Isidore was thrilled to see his beloved. He immediately hugged her tightly, the moment his eyes saw the beauty of his true love. "I thought I was going to lose you."

"Who said about you losing me?" She jested. "I'll always be with you and you're always be with me as well. You'll forever be engraved herein my heart." The two exchanged sweet gestures and shared a kiss.

"Sheesh!" Chaneri made random facial expressions when she felt vexed upon what she saw. "Why does adults have to be gross sometimes?" She curiously asked.

"Shut up! You're to young for this kind of matter." Zhia just make laugh for it.

"Then don't do it in front of the kid." Marjorie confronted the two with an obvious facial expression written on her face. "Now, let's not waste any time and get out of here."

And so they marched their way out of the arsenal.
