Chapter 22- Surviving the forest 1

Two weeks after the monkey incident, Wilson was in a haggard carriage pulled by a horse and camel hybrid. A combination of fast and weather-enduring. He sat in the carriage looking out through the see-through curtain at the snow-filled plains. He sighed deeply, lost in thought. He reminisced on what had happened the past week after he had meticulously escaped from the clutches of death at the hands of those cunning, super strong, multicolored, horned monkeys.

After running for hours, he stumbled on a thick bunch of interlocked vines that were seemingly warning him not to take a step further. Of course, he did not listen. He ran on, past the Vines and some thick evergreen trees until he got to a clearing that looked both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.

"Where have I seen this before?" He asked himself aloud.

"I don't know, do you?" A voice suddenly said behind him, startling him. He turned around at an inhumane speed and shouted at the voice owner.

"Why do you love frightening me like this?"

"What do you mean?"

"You are always suddenly appearing behind me like some phantom ghost! Scaring my soul out of my body." He replied.

She was confused by his words. Was he not the one who had spent several days threatening the sh*t out of her back at the cabin. Now, he was acting so p*ssy-like.

"Grandpa said that this is where you will be living in from now on!"

"Huh?"

"You will train, eat, drink, sleep, whatever you wanna do, You do it here! From now on, this will be dwelling place and I will be your supervisor!" She said, showing him a beautiful set of teeth, beautiful yet vicious. Wilson shuddered at the sight.

"This cannot be good!" He muttered to himself.

"What did you say?" She asked.

"I said that this is not good." He said absent-mindedly. She slashed his chest diagonally with a thin knife, making him curse.

"Let's be clear with the rules. There will be no complaints, use of profanities or any form of disrespect, no matter how insignificant. Do you hear me?" She instructed.

Wilson did not give a response so she slashed him with the knife again at the other side of his chest to make an 'x' with the first cut.

"Ow!"

She slashed him again.

"What the..."

Another slash was received.

"Why are you...?"

Another slash.

"Okay. Stop..."

Another slash.

"Stop it..."

Another slash.

"Stop it or else..."

Another slash.

"Else I will..."

Another slash.

"I will beat you up!"

She paused with her hand raised. She looked straight into his eyes and then brings her knife hand down and slashed at his already bloody chest multiple times ripping his tattered shirt to pieces as well as making several deep cuts on his bare chest. Wilson did not take a step or show any signs of pain. He simply stood there and glared at her. She noticed his glare and slashed his skin again.

"Glaring is a sign of disrespect, kid!" She said and began walking away.

"Did you just call me kid? Are we not about the same age?" Wilson asked.

"You have not experienced half of what I have! So, you are still a kid!" She said dismissively.

Wilson stood where he was, surrounded by his own blood that was still dripping to the bare ground and slowly forming a pool with him as the source. He was about to say something when his stomach growled. That was when he remembered that he had not eaten a ting since the old man had forced to run through the forest in search of a certain water source.

Old man Jenkins granddaughter heard his tummy make low rumbling sounds and turned around to look at his bloody figure.

"Also, just so you know, there are no more free meals. You have to earn what you want to eat. So, you better start hunting around for your next meal if you want to be able to eat anytime soon. Any living thing apart from those carnivorous plants and the multicolored mushrooms and rodents are for eating. There are some multicolored rodents you can actually eat but it is difficult to tell them apart, so you better just avoid them altogether. Any other thing, you are free to eat. As long as you are able to successfully kill them. Till then, see ya!" She told him and abruptly disappeared. She did it so smoothly, it was like she was never there to begin with.

Wilson stood there dazed, unsure of what to think for nearly half an hour. Then, he decided to first clean himself up to avoid attracting those Savage blood sucking, flesh eating beasts of the forest. It only took him a minute to find a waterfall. It was hidden right behind a few thick trees just outside the clearing.

'i don't get it! How were they able to block out the sound and smell of such massive amount of water?' He thought to himself as he cleaned the blood off himself and used some leaves to cover up his wounds. He remembered his uncle telling him that it helped animals heal faster. After he was done, he returned to the clearing and saw some animals that looked and sounded similar to a hyena but had the size of a bull.

They saw him the same time he saw them. In a flash, the pack of twenty hyenas had surrounded him, growling menacingly at him.

"Oh well, at least now I don't have to go out to hunt. Dinner has come to me!" He said loudly with a shrug. As if they understood what he said, they growled even louder and two of the biggest pounced at him.

Wilson shouted and swung his fists at the closest one to his right while ducking to dodge the one coming from his left.

*KRYCCCHH*

His fist broke the Hyena's snout. The other hyenas immediately joined the fight as soon as it dropped. Some pounced, some distracted while the others tried to drag their injured comrade away from scuffle.

"How dare you! I said that is my dinner!" He shouted at them. He was getting angry at them all.

Of course, they could not understand his words. A hyena leapt at him. He rolled beneath it, letting it hit another hyena. He grabbed a smaller one and swung it around him before slamming it into three of its kind. He heard their bones crack on contact. They howled in pain and tried to crawl away. The biggest hyena, which was obviously their leader, that was watching finally joined in. It ran at an incredible pace and tried to bite off Wilson's head in one chomp.

Wilson instantly swung his right fist. A plain punching technique to neutralize an attack. He hit it right between its eyes. The punch rattled it's brain. Blood oozed out of its head at the point of impact. Wilson sighed while the other hyenas left their wounded comrades to themselves and ran away as their leader went limp and dropped dead.

He heard lots of rushing sounds nearing the clearing. Wilson could discern from all those sounds that they were too many for him to handle.

"She didn't say I had to stay here all the time!" He grabbed the biggest hyena. It was very heavy even for him. It was sure to impede his speed but he was not willing to give such a huge meal up. After all, he did not quite fancy hunting for food everyday. He carried it on his shoulders and knew he had to leave the clearing before the animals arrived. And so, he ran.
