"I thought what we had was good?" His hand motioned towards him and I as his pain manifested on his facial expression.
"It was perfect. It IS perfect." I grabbed ahold of the hand that floats in the air.
"Then why? It's not the first time you request this from me. Why do you have to say it so easily?"
Just like that, I knew I broke him. The front that he had been putting on, one that I thought was sturdy like bricks turned out to be paper-thin. It took a little bit more of a push, and it all came tumbling down like Humpty Dumpty.
"Sometimes we have to give up for the greater good."
"And this fits the bill?" He scoffed.
"Yes."
"Bollocks!!" He slammed his fist onto the wooden floor, creating a slight dent in its path.
