"I can't believe even in these flood conditions the old well behind the barn has no water," commented Ben, already rattling on the rubber boat he found with the drifting water.
Heck commented he was in another rubber boat, sitting with Uncle Ted. The two of them were looking for some things they might be able to use in the refugee camp. "I also think the same. Look, even the water doesn't seem to want to touch the old well. There is such a barrier around it. What happened huh?"
Uncle Ted had been silent for a while, his eyes seemed to be busy sifting around, but his mind was full of so many questions.
The well remained dry until the rain finally stopped for the next few weeks. The evacuation teams came to take them back to their respective cities. A sense of relief and gratitude filled the hearts of each of us.
"I heard Noland isn't flooded, so we don't have to worry," Heck said as he waved the phone in his hand then swiped the screen again.
