Chapter 1 - Prologue

Annelise didn't think she was asleep, not until she was awakened by the voice of the cop who told her that the plane was about to land so he asked passengers to put on their seat belts, she quickly settles on the seat more comfortable than she expected it to be and put the seat belt on.

If you asked when she had fallen asleep, she remembered thinking about what family members' comments she would have to deal with. After all, she had spent four years studying at Yale, in the United States, and she never regretted it.

Leaving Berlin, without parental supervision having the opportunity to meet new people brought her good and bad experiences, but for sure what all of them brought was maturity and a lot of responsibility.

The University is situated at the height of the young life of adolescents in transition to adulthood. During this period, limits are discovered, unraveling experiences from all areas.

When she started to study theology, she was still at the height of her nineteen years old and living in a kind of complex with several students from different courses than hers gave the devotees of their classes freedom.

Gibson never admitted to family and friends, all fervent Catholics, that she did not believe everything said at Mass. She disagreed and did not tire of the context of almost everything that was said.

These extremely dubious questions came from historical content, like witches burned at the stake for allegedly practicing witchcraft. The blonde wanted to scream that everyone was stingy for not realizing that those women made tea with natural herbs that effectively cured, or even killed, people. They were stupid for murdering smart women at a time when they barely had effective drugs.

She doubted God at times, I know it can seem a horrible thing to speak out loud, but she thought that there would be a presence or even a bearded old man sitting on a throne watching and taking care of everyone's lives to judge them on the spot certain. The more I thought about it, but she couldn't understand it, it felt like an old fairy tale passed down from generation to generation to keep people doing good deeds to each other.

Sometimes she doubted herself by rebuking those thoughts. Two parts of her were in constant conflict. Especially when analyzing the fact of doubting God, but perhaps of believing in the Devil.

Taking into account that she spent most of the weekends during high school, sleeping at the house of friends with liberal parents to watch horror movies that portrayed possessions and exorcisms. Not to mention the countless late nights lost in research, forums, and documentaries on the subject.

At the height of her twenty-three, almost twenty-four, she decides that she would remove that obsessed interest from her life once and for all. She made that decision almost two years earlier were in one of her researches on her topic of interest, she found that the Vatican itself taught a course on the subject, with people who understood and experienced things.

It had a cost, one hundred and six euros plus the cost of living in the country, so she tried to find several small jobs and little by little she was collecting her own money.

She was determined to move to the smallest country in the world in the eight months that the course lasted, to work and study there for that time. Alone, no matter what her parents said, she was an adult, independent, and in search of her lost faith before she even realized it.

The blonde woman puts her cell phone close to her face using the reflection of the screen off to give a discreet makeup that she was wearing. She runs her fingers through his medium, wavy hair, not forgetting the bangs that almost fall over her eyes.

She rolled her eyes involuntarily before removing the phone from her face, she was wondering if his parents would complain about her new haircut. She folds the small, fluffy blanket over his lap, placing it inside the handbag, puts on her black low-cut boots, and pulls the crucifix out of the tight turtleneck sweater.

As soon as she is released to leave the plane with all the other passengers, she places her bag on her right shoulder and takes the handbag. Her steps are calm and not at all anxious, she would even be grateful for having to stop and pick up suitcases before leaving the arrivals hall to finally meet his parents.

Don't misunderstand it, it was obvious that she was missing her parents, her grandparents. She missed her home, her bedroom, her mother's food and even going to Mass on Sundays at seven-thirty in the morning.

They would stay in the same gray tone as your grandmother and grandfather, who were a little lower than before, nothing that would have left your height in the past. Her mother had inherited the green and crystalline eyes of her parents, Gisele and Wilson, however, she was not so lucky to inherit the brown tone of Charles, her father, only in a more open color.

"Daughter, I miss you!" Marjorie comments between the strong and longing hug she gave her daughter.

Marjorie was very proud of her youngest daughter, she never tired of telling neighbors about how she was a good student at Yale.

"I missed you too, mom." Anne shared the same feeling, she didn't think she could forget her mother's scent but she almost forgot. "And yours too." She let a real smile take over your lips while hugging your grandparents at the same time, sealing their foreheads one at a time.

"I brought flowers, congratulations on graduation Anne." Charlie speaks for the first time making her daughter's eyes fill with tears.

He was her best friend, always so caring and understanding with her questions and feelings.

"Father, thank you, I missed you so much." Hugs him hiding her face in his chest.

"Did you change your hair?" Grandma asks.

"Ah, yes, I changed the cut a few weeks ago." She smiled, moving away from her father, taking with her hand not occupied with the flowers, adjusting the bangs on her forehead.

"It looks so modern for a young girl like you my daughter." Comment Marjorie.

"Now I think it looks like an angel, a beautiful and holy angel of the Lord." Gisele was listed and Anne laughs going to hug the old lady quickly.

The only angel she would be is one of Lucifer's followers who ended up falling with him from heaven. If that happened, the Big Bang makes a lot more sense.

"But those full breasts marked on the tight sweater do not make me comfortable." The older one continues.

"Women have granny breasts, big or small, everyone knows that. Nothing new. " She says calmly, subtly, and gets a reproachful look from her mother. "In the meantime, I'll change my clothes when we get home. Speaking of which, we must go or it will be night and cold." Change the conversation.

The journey from the airport to their home would take about an hour and a half, they would arrive in the evening at dinner time.
