After an hour or so of the dispersal of the intruders, the Mikaelson family returns to their house only to see their house burned up including everything that was in it.
"Everything is ruined. Finished. The burnt ruins stood in front of us is our home. The same home we were laughing in some hours ago. The same home where we ate, where we had so many memories; now lies dead. Just like us. I know. We are going to die just like our home.
Suddenly Mikael slaps Finn and shouts,
"Who am I? Can't you see me? I am your father! And you think you all are going to die on my watch?! Never! As long as I am living, I will no let anyone lay their hands on my kids, do you hear me? (Finn does not match his eyes) I didn't expect this from you, Finn! I would've been okay if Kol were the one to say this. Or even Niklaus! (Nikolaus frowns) But, you disappointed me. I am trying to keep you alive and you are talking about death! That is if you wish to die, then I can't do anything. Let me tell you if the person gives up on the inside, he has no right to try on the outside! I suggest you just here and die by the hands of the Equilibrium!"
"That's enough!" Esther comes in.
"Didn't you hear what he said?!" Mikael shouted.
"He is traumatized. He is scared, just look at his face. The house he helped us built is now destroyed in front of him! So excuse him if he is rambling on stuff due to his fear!" Esther says sternly.
Mikael looked at Finn's face who was now crying and regretted the last couple of minutes. He immediately took Finn in the bus embrace and shredded a tear himself. They were just hugging there for a few seconds before Mikael said,
"I am going to make this right." Then he breaks the hug and tells to everyone, "I am going to make everything right."
Everyone smiled.
A fellow villager and Esther's dear friend Ada came to them and said,
"Esther? What has happened here? Are you all right?"
"Yes, thankfully we are," Mikael replied.
"Some intruders suddenly attacked our home. We may know who were they and that they will come back." Esther said.
Ada gave another look at the ruined house and said,
"Esther, don't worry. You come to stay at our place."
"Oh, no Ada! Why create an imbalance in your life?"
"What imbalance? You are like my sister, Esther. And your children are my children! And besides, where will you take them during the night? It is so cold out here and we have even heard of se beasts lurking around. It is not safe for you all to roam homeless at night. Come on, let's go."
"Wife, we do need a home. And a change of address may confuse the intruders who for sure will strike again tonight." Mikael told to Esther quiet enough to be audible for her only.
"And risk Ada and her family?" Esther questioned back in a low voice.
"Who's more important? Them or us?!" Mikael asked and kind of answered.
Esther sighed in defeat in said with a smile,
"Okay, Ada. We'll stay at your place."
Ada's house was neither too near nor too far away. But it was far enough to draw out the intruders' attention. They wouldn't risk disturbing the equilibrium by killing anyone; and thus, getting themselves killed. So in all, it was a great strategy but Esther felt wrong to use Ada for their survival. Perhaps she realized the vision she saw earlier that day will be coming true.
When the Mikaelsons reached Ada's house, they felt warm. Ada had her husband and her two little kids. One fourteen years old Dumrik and ten years old Amana. Both the children were giddied up when they saw the Mikaelsons entering as they were fond of them. Dumrik who almost worshipped Kol took his hand and sat with him at a corner and Amana played with Rebekah and Henrik. Ada's husband, Manrich greeted Mikael and asked Finn, Elijah and Niklaus about their health.
Pretty soon everything was normal. Mikaelsons were busy among Dumrik and Amana and themselves. Esther was preparing a meal with Ada and Mikael was talking about hunting with March. Suddenly Hilrin entered Ada's house. Esther, Mikael, and the Mikaelsons became tensed when she entered.
"Esther? (She sees Esther and hugs her) Thank God you are alive! (Breaks the hug) I saw your house and feared something terrible happened to you. But some kids told me you were at Ada's house so I came here. What happened?" Hilrin asked.
"We were attacked. But we are fine now." Esther replied.
"That's good to hear," Hilrin said with relief.
"Where were you, Ada? Didn't see you for a couple of days." Ada asked Hilrin.
"I was unwell you see. From the day Davian is missing, I am very tensed." Hilrin replied.
"Davian who?" Ada asked.
"Ada, that's enough. You all have been asking me this as if my son and Davik's brother never existed. Any idea where he is?" Hilrin asked.
"Hilrin what are you saying? Is there a brother to Davik? Who?" Ada asked confusion written on her face.
"Ada! Stop this! David has a brother! Davian! Are you okay? Esther tells her about Davian." Hilrin ordered Esther.
"Esther? Is it true? Is there a Davian?" Ada asked Esther. Esther knew she had to be prepared for this. She looked at Mikael who signaled her to speak. She gulped down and said,
"What are you saying, Hilrin? I don't know about any Davian."
"Esther come on. I am not in the mood right now. The reason I came to meet you was to ask you to help me with magic to find Davian."
"Who is Davian, Hilrin?! Are you—alright?" Esther shouted.
"You seriously don't know Davian?"
"No!" Esther shouts.
"Then why did you replied the other day when I asked you if you have seen Davian or not?" Hilrin asked with her eyebrow raised.
"I thought you asked me if I have seen your son, David!" Esther lied.
Hilrin shook. For her, it felt like her she was hit with a giant rock. "Please, Esther. Stop this. Tell me you know my son, Davian!" Hilrin begged.
"Hilrin, she is telling the truth. We don't know anyone named Davian." Mikael said.
"Yes, Hilrin. We don't know anyone with that name." Ada continued.
"No…." Hilrin eyes started to water.
"No, you all are lying." She wanted to cry but she controlled herself. She went to the Mikaelsons and asked Elijah,
"Elijah, you remember Davian, right?" she asked with hope.
Elijah took a deep breath and replied,
"No, aunt Hilrin."
"Rebekah dear, you remember him, right?"
"No, aunt Hilrin."
"What?! You don't remember him?! You liked him, didn't you? You even played that game with him where you played his…."
"I am sorry Aunty Hilrin. I don't know what you are talking about." Rebekah interrupted Hilrin as she didn't hear what Hilrin was going to say next.
"Are you okay, aunt Hilrin?"
"I am perfectly fine!" she turns to Niklaus with the little hope left in her, "Niklaus son, you remember my Davian, right? You remember his smile, right? The way he talked. The way he walked. All those games you played, you remember all that right?"
Niklaus could swear if he could he would hug Hilrin and just cry. But he controlled himself.
"No, aunt Hilrin. I don't remember."
Hilrin got back in shock. Everyone refused to remember her beloved son. She mumbled,
"You're lying. You're all lying." She said the same thing continuously while going out of the house. The family felt bad for Hilrin. But Niklaus was devastated. He just lied to Davian's mother. Told her Davian doesn't exist. He was shattered. He sat down at a corner and Elijah accompanied him.
"Brother, you okay?"
"What do you think Elijah? I just told a mother her son didn't exist. The son I killed. I know not on purpose. But still. You know, brother. I am the reason we are in this mess right now."
"It's nobody's fault, brother." Elijah tried to console.
"It is, brother! Don't deny it! It is my fault and whatever happens to our family from now on, I will be the reason for it. I don't know how I am going to live with that."
"Well, you have me brother. Always."
"Always?"
"Always," Elijah reassured.
Days were passed and everything was fine. It seemed like things were going well. That is until one day some people knocked at Ada's doorstep in the early morning. They were people from the Order present there to collect the Mikaelsons and get them to the headquarters safely. For there, they will be prepared to fight against The Equilibrium.
"Are you sure you won't be needing us? I mean the more the merrier, right?" Ada asked to give them company to fight.
"No Ada. You should stay here. It's our fight. We need you to stay here and wait for us. And maybe with your magic, fix our house." Esther told.
"I'll do everything I can," Ada assured. Esther hugged Ada and they all left with the people of the Order.
"Where are we going?" Henrik asked.
"Someplace safe," Finn replied.
"Are there going to be toys?" Henrik asked again
"Yes, there will be." One of the men of the Order replied.
"What kind of toys?"
"Anyhow you desire."
"Exciting."
They soon reached a big mansion but with no guards at all. Everyone gasped at the sight of it. They reached inside and greeted everyone who was very kind-natured. Soon a voice was heard,
"You haven't aged a day."
Everyone turned to see a woman wearing blue colored gown; looking glamourous.
"It's great to see you, Mikael."
Mikael hugged the woman and said,
"It's great to see you too, Josephine. So sorry to hear about your father."
"Well, he lived a long life." She said in a soothing voice as always.
"That ring certainly suits you," Mikael commented.
"Of course! It had to. And does anything not suit me?" She asked teasingly.
"No, I am afraid not," Mikael replied and they both laughed.
Then Josephine turns to Esther,
"Thank you, Esther. For taking care of this old man. I am sure he didn't sulk much. Or whined much as they do with age." She teased Mikael.
"Well, I made a choice when I decided to marry this old bag of bones. There's the point of regret anyways." Esther said and they laughed again.
"You must be the Mikaelsons," Josephine told to the children.
"We are. I am…" Finn was about to introduce themselves but Josephine interrupted,
"I know. You are Finn. You are Elijah. You are little Henrik. You are the magnificent Rebekah. You are Niklaus and you are Kol."
Kol stepped forward and took Josephine's left hand and kissed the back of their palm.
"Pleasured to meet you, lady."
Josephine chuckled,
"I am two hundred years old."
Kol left Josephine's hand hearing that. They all got shocked. How was it possible that she was that old? She looked so young! With her red hair, blue eyes, and white skin with slimness. She looked like one of the zodiac goddesses.
"Follow me, will you?
You are here because you created an imbalance in nature thus, disturbing the equilibrium. And so, the people of the Equilibrium are coming for their heads and we must keep you safe. Now I know not all of you are vampires. I know Rebekah, Henrik and Esther are not vampires but that is fine. A group of my men will keep them safe and hidden. Esther; with her magic and abundant supply of White Oak from us, can do wonders and help us fight. I imagine Elijah, Finn, Kol, and Nikalus have learned to control their thirst?" She asks looking at Mikael. Mikael nods. "Good."
"Madam Josephine, where are we going?" Niklaus asks.
"To have dinner of course. A stomach must be filled before the fight."
"Fight?"
"Yes, fight. Tonight, you are going to fight. And don't think you will win easily, oh no. They know we can never die. But they know they can rip out your heart and kill you within a second. It's that easy for them. They'll kill you; each one of you and go on their way. Therefore, you will never be alone. One of my people will always be there with you. And one thing.
Don't and I am telling you, don't look at their eyes. If you look at them, you are dead."
