Having its head severed from its body, the enormous flying beast collapsed, quickly crashing into the ground, creating an impact crater. As short as the fight took him, Desmond had spent a significant amount of mana to unleash one powerful ability after another, thus defeating a beast above his level. Therefore, spending mana to stay in the air was a bad idea, so Desmond dropped quickly.
Now that the battle was over, Desmond, though reluctant, used the hunter's book to analyze the beast, searching for any precious resources it had. To Desmond's surprise, the beast was of little value while powerful and imposing. The beast had nothing to offer besides meat full of nutrients and skin resistant to aquatic mana.
