Mia's therapy sessions were going really well. Her nightmares had also lessened and she wasn't as afraid anymore.
George reported about Mia's situation to Michael after every session and he always kept an eye on her. He was more than relived to see her condition improving.
Mia and Jake were assigned project partners. At first, Mia was afraid her mother would do something but after talking to George, she was assured that Jake was safe.
After school, they would come back to Mia's house to work on the project.
Jake was explaining something to Mia when she suddenly saw someone behind him. It was Alina. She was holding a knife. Alina was about to stab Jake but Mia pushed him out of the way and also pushed the knife out of Alina's hand.
For Jake, he wasn't able to understand what had gotten into Mia. All he could see was Mia fighting with air. He was even more surprised when Mia started talking.
"Can't you just leave me alone?!" She scolded Alina.
"No, I'm going to kill him." Alina replied but Jake didn't hear this. He could only hear Mia.
Without a second thought, Mia grabbed Jake's bag and his hand and started pushing him out of the house. Jake kept asking what had happened.
"I can't tell you. Just leave for now. And please stay safe. Don't stay alone for too long." Mia warned before pushing Jake out of the house and slamming the door on his face. She turned around, leaned against the door and sat down.
She held her knees and cried. All the workers and Michael had witnessed this. Michael immediately went to her.
"What happened?" He asked.
"She is back. She will kill everyone." Mia replied, in between sobs.
"Mia, it's ok. This is all your imagination." Michael said.
Mia was escorted to her room by Michael. She went in and lied in her bed, awake, the whole night. She didn't want another person to be the victim. She felt very guilty for dragging Jake in a fight between her and her mother.
The next day was Saturday, therefore, the first thing Mia did was visit her therapist.
"George I am seeing her again." Mia said as she dropped herself on the couch in front of Dr. Brown.
"You need to explain more than that, sweetie. What exactly happened?" Dr. Brown asked as he adjusted his glasses.
"I was sitting at home, doing my project with a guy in my class, Jake, when I saw her behind him with a knife. Luckily, I pushed her away so she wasn't able to harm him. She even threatened to kill him. I send Jake away before she could come back and even warned him to stay safe. George I'm really worried about him. And Michael uncle." Mia said.
"Tell me more about this Jake. Did Alina know about him?" Dr. Brown asked.
"Yes, she did. In fact, I like him. Whenever I tried to talk to him, she would threaten to kill him. I stopped talking to him because of her." Mia explained.
"Mia, this is still your imagination. When Alina was around, she used to threaten you whenever you tried to get close to Jake and now that you are close to him, you are imagining stuff because you are still scared." Dr. Brown explained. "So there is nothing to worry about, you, Jake and Michael will be fine, alright?"
Mia knew this wasn't her imagination but she also knew that thinking it was , would be best for all of them. She left Dr. Brown's office and headed home.
After that, she attended school properly and even finished the project. Whenever she encountered a "hallucination" she would just ignore it and continue what she was doing.
