Chapter 4 - EP_4 ƑŘĮẸŇĎ ỖŘ ƑỖẸ

It was a cloudy morning and the sun was shadowed by the clouds as if the weather was grieving above this crime scene marked by the yellow tabs and over a dead body stood two detectives and one of them bend to examine the deceased and said: no murder weapon and no bullet this is definitely our guy, what do think, Luke.

Detective Luke: I recognize these untraceable bullets anywhere, but what I don't understand is, why now?

Detective: he's not a serial killer that's for sure, however, he's unstable pathological Killer.

Luke: you mean that this guy actually kills people for fun whenever he feels like it?

Other Detective: no not for fun but whenever he needs to this guy solves his problems with his gun.

Luke: God help anyone gets in his way then.

Later this day the noon was high in the sky in this cloudy day and the skies were about to rain when Jolly was crossing the crowded streets to the other side to enter this not small book store that seemed a little outdated, inside the bookstore, the shelves were tidy and really neat, the attention in the place didn't seem really necessary due to the lack of customers, in middle of the store there were two tables designed for readers of curse but though the tables were large enough for 10 readers there where only one on each reading table and behind the librarian counter there was Keet playing on his phone and didn't seem really interested in whoever just arrived until he heard her voice saying :

Hey, are free for a while ?.

Keet got out of his chair on a hurry and jumped of the counter before he noticed what he just did and slowed down as he says: why, what happened?

Jolly laughs as she says: nothing silly, just got so bored and decided to do something about it.

That moment she noticed a recent scar of an open wound just appeared in the light on his face and asked: what happened to you?

Keet didn't look too worried when he said: ah, this is just a bike accident, it's nothing really.

His face was kind and friendly as usual but something in his voice didn't seem right, we all know women have sharper instincts than dogs.

That moment the door opened and a little girl entered, she wasn't so young maybe 14 and you can tell from her cloth that she has real fashion sense and her colors were all cheerful, she smiled an innocent smile that Keet didn't like at all when she said: do you have my book, Mr. Keet?

Keet's face wasn't exactly interested when he pointed at a book behind the counter and said: no I don't, but you can check the index book.

Little girl: you couldn't find it?

Keet: no I just didn't look, that's all.

Little girl a little angry: well I'm sure that you're busy, but can't you try for me at least?

Keet still not interested: no I'm just so lazy that's all.

Little girl a little angrier: well can't you try now at least?

Keet: sorry but I can't I was just leaving, actually how about that you fill my place for a while?

You can look for the book and make money, it's a win-win how about it?

Little girl a little bit more than angry: OK I will, but you better have my book after all this.

She went to the index book but when she opened it she said: what is this the rats ate it or what.

Keet was enjoying it a lot when he said: welcome to my world.

.................

Meanwhile Detective Luke was following leads of the case and his office was filled with evidence and paper works and you can tell from that heavy amount of cigarettes in his ashtray that he was there for some time, suddenly a heavy wind has blown in the office as if a tornado havoc upon the whole place and a familiar voice said: good evening Luke, still bent on finding and punishing I see.

Luke: hello Damien, it's been some time, what are doing here?

Damien: following a knight of the order that has been taken care of I presume.

Luke: you knew the victim from last night? , and of course, you know who did it I presume.

Damien: yes, and I think it's best if we leave it to that.

Luke was not feeling comfortable for the ending of that line but he surprised Damien when he said: sure , anything for an old friend,

and of course, Damien was convinced and he saluted him with a formal smile and he disappeared into the thin air leaving Luke plotting a new plane to catch the holy knight's killer

..............

In that evening Keet and Jolly were enjoying a quiet evening walk in the city square and sneaking a look every now and then, and Jolly was enjoying her ice cream cone unlike Keet who seemed in torture but pretended otherwise before her due to she really seemed to enjoy it when she finally decided to break that weird silence and said: this really fun, we should be doing it more often, don't you think.

Keet didn't speak as if he was afraid of ruining the moment and naught his head agreeing with her then she said: so aren't you late for your night planes?

Keet: Nah, I'm good.

Jolly: so what you usually do at this time?

Keet: nothing important sometimes I read, or playing, you know.

Jolly: there's something about you and I'll find it out.

Keet didn't seem really worried about it when he smiled at her and said: sure but some secrets are harder to discover than others.

And he left her to her confusion wondering what he is hiding.

............

it was a quiet back alley, Damien was the only walker in it and he turned left to a shop's back door and went inside without noticing that unwanted stalker that's been following him for quite some time now, the door was the back entrance of a familiar book store and the stalker waited for some time until Damien got out and disappeared to the thin air as he usually does and then he revealed his face and said: what are you hiding Damien, or rather who?

..............

the next morning was quiet and rather shining and Keet was tending some arranging of a new books order when the doorbells sounded a new visitor arrival but Keet wasn't really interested as usual, it was Detective Luke, however, he announced his presence Keet didn't turn over to him so he started by saying: Keet Martin Black an unusual name of an unusual person porn in 1995 but nothing happened to you ever since until 3 years ago when you showed up for high school senior year then applied the collage then reopened this book store last year claiming it's your family's but the most interesting thing about you that didn't come in your skinny file is your interesting reputation among the gangs of the area they seem really scared of a friend of yours.

Keet turned his eyes checking the proud Detective and destroyed his moment of victory with a sarcastic look and a loud joyful laugh and said: you're not here to buy a book, are you?

At that moment Luke found out that he had no idea what he was dealing with and his mind wasn't prepared for it yet but that look in his eyes was that he was ready for a new challenge.
