Chereads / How To Summon A Monster Girl / Chapter 21 - What If

Chapter 21 - What If

Zilla tried to stay still, but that made moving tempting. She felt like shivering or twitching. Four small walkways surrounded her for the technicians. One walkway across her chest. Another near her hip. The last by her kneese. All required to nail down her armor. She knew this, but she hated being still. All she could see was the tiny flashes of their torches on the walk ways. She glanced around the bay. She couldn't see Dale or Senko. Were they even around at this point? She wondered.

"It'll be alright, Dale went into the city. He wanted to protect the people." Senkos voice echoed through a speaker. The technicians removed their face masks and looked up. As if they'd see Senko up there. Then they dropped the masks and continued their work. Zilla smiled at the sound of Senko's voice.

"I told you these coms are for the technicians." Another voice said calmly in the background, then the coms turned off.

"Hi there." A woman said. Zilla looked for the person who spoke, but all she could see was metal walls all around. The sparks caused by the mechanics vanished and the room turned dimmer.

"Who's there?" Zilla called.

"Look down." The woman said.

Zilla noticed a woman dressed finely. She wore a skirty dress and wore sunglasses. It was dim in the hangar as is.

"How did you get in here? Where did the soldiers go?" Zilla asked. She knew the routine. Only soldiers and Dale's team were allowed in here.

"I am God. I brought you here to this world." She said.

Zilla was skeptical, she turned her face away, then her eyes widened.

"I doubt you are, but if you are God. Why are you letting aliens screw us up? Why did you take me away from Kilo!" Zilla looked up at the hangar's command room. The lights had dimmed and all the computers had gone black. Something was wrong and she knew it.

"You humans don't give me enough credit. The law of nature would have killed many more." She said.

"How so? How can it get any worse? The aliens are about to wipe us out. What do you have to say about that?" Zilla forced a grin.

"I'll show you in this vision. An alternate route. I'll make you live it." She snapped.

Zilla found herself standing in the Ocean and bowing to a small alien ship. She couldn't control herself, but she could feel hate. Hate for Dale and for having taken her from her own world.

"I pledge allegeance!" Zilla said.

The alien in the cockpit looked like a mantis with saggy human skin.

"This is the truth if Dale never wore Kilo's armor and if I didn't kill the parasite." The Goddess said.

Another scene emerged. The rock monster rose up from the crater. Dale stood there before it. Wearing the second armor. Instead of summoning Zilla, he saw Stella and Bobo emerge. Zilla and the rock kaiju stood side by side.

"No..this isn't what I would've done!"

"Yes. The aliens would've infected your brain with a parasite. Resulting in an evil you. They didn't have to know your weakness. Bodies of flesh are weak." The Goddess said.

Dale hooked on to the stone monster. Stella and Bobo transformed into dragons and began flying up. Fireballs shot out of their mouths, turning the rock kaiju's surface into molten rock. Zilla saw herself smile and she threw punches at Bobo.

"Aim all your shots in one area! If we don't fight, we'll die here!" Dale shouted.

Zilla's eyes filled with tears. She didn't want Dale to ever say such things about her.

The stone monster's skull caved in and it fell lifelessly. Its body shook the ground. Then Dale's glowing eyes fixated themselves on Zilla.

"Shoot her in the eyes!"

"No…stop it.." Zilla said.

"They can't hear you. It's just a calculated reality." The Goddess reminded her.

Zilla swung her tail and hit Bobo. Her body broke at impact. Then she grabbed Stella like a doll. Stella fired a shot, but Zilla managed to lower her head. The fireball burned part of her bang and it sizzled.

"You killed my sister! You fucking bitch!" Stella yelled.

Then Stella's body was crushed.

"Stop it!" Zilla cried.

Dale summoned the last hero. Senko rose up. Her fluffy tail wobbled around as she pulled out her sling.

"Listen, I can send you back home, but we have to destroy that monster." Dale said.

The word monster hurt again. But above that, Dale's ambitious effort to kill was worse. He dimished the value of their lives.

"I get it…you stopped the aliens from brainwashing me." Zilla whimpered.

"No, thats not it. I also refined Dale..I broke him so he could be strong. Notice how cowardly he's being in these visions. Summoning his heroes to the slaughter..with no remorse..just desperate to kill you. All to save himself." The Goddess said.

Zilla watched as Senko fired rounds. Each sling shot left a bloody hole on Zilla's skin. Zilla fired her cannon, but Senko managed to stop a round. She used her magic skill and she could only use that one once a day.

"I can't watch Senko die..I can't.." Zilla whispered.

Dale landed on Zilla's head and stabbed her eye. The evil Zilla yelled in pain. Senko leaped from wall to wall and Zilla threw a punch. Her fist made contact with Senko and her corpse flew, crashing into a building.

"We'll Shit." Dale said.

"Please stop the vision…I don't want to see me kill him." Zilla begged. She didn't want to admit it, but Dale seemed cold. Like he cared nothing for the lives of the others. The fact he hadn't even cried for their deaths made her sick.

Zilla watched as she saw herself fighting Dale. It wasn't much of a fight and in the end, Zilla held Dale down like a bug.

"We can talk…I can send you back..The Goddess can." Dale said.

Zilla smiled wide as she pulled off his left arm, Dale screamed.

"Have mercy! Goddess!" Dale yelled.

Zilla smiled as she went for the other arm, but the vision went blank. Then Zilla found herself standing in the hangar again.

"I didn't want to show you this..life is cruel. It's been cursed since the beggining. So is the will of humanity…this isn't my ideal world." The Goddess said.

"Then why?" Zilla cried.

"Because I wan't you to be aware of love. If you don't see evil, it gets hard to truly love humanity. You don't appreciate the good in life. You just want more and feel entitled to it." The Goddess said.

Zilla wiped her tears. Her hands felt weak and shakey.

"I'm with you..it might feel like I'm not. If I help you too much, you'll break too. Just like in the vision, you saw what could've been. If I help too much, it could weaken you." The Goddess said.

"If you're God, whats the meaning of life? Why build all this?" Zilla asked.

"Simple. The meaning of life is love. It's hard to realize that in a fragile world. Chemicle emotions break, DNA breaks, trust breaks, government breaks. Thats why love waxes cold." She said.

Zilla stared at her hands. The image of Dale dying by her hands replayed in her head. She could hear his screams, the blood. It was now scarred into her head.

"They're precious to me. I'd never kill them." Zilla said.

"You killed in your homeworld. Imagine if every soldier you killed was Dale. Imagine if every cancer patient was Dale or Senko..thats how I see it. I love everyone so much. Thats why I delivered the aliens to you. Because I will protect whats mine." The Goddess said as she raised her hand.

"Now watch this."

"I don't wanna see Dale die.." Zilla said.

The vision showed the two black robots coming from the ocean. Their black metal glittered under the sun. Battle tanks lined up at the coast, waiting. At the center stood a girl wearing all black. She had baby blue hair and her dress had glowing stripes of green.

"That would've been Dale's replacment. If you or they killed him. Luckily that currently is not an option for me. I calculate the smallest grain of sand." She said.

"I get it…you don't need us. You were never going to show me these visions either. Your not trying to get anyones approval." Zilla said.

"I'm God. I don't need anyones approval. I don't need to justify myself. Why should a judge need to justify himself to a criminal?" The Goddess said.
