I was printing some copies for the meeting that would be held this evening, the soft sound of the printer working, filled the room. Suddenly, someone entered the room with the door screeching.
I turned around and it was the brunette from the reception. Her face lit up seeing me; she gave me a polite smile and entered the room with a stack of papers in her hand.
"Mr. Sandros, right?" she queried me and went near an unoccupied printer.
"Yes," I nodded my head in confirmation. She seemed like a good person maybe we could be friends.
"What is your first name again?" she asked me all of a sudden and started to make copies of her papers.
"Reynold, Miss…" I trailed and I realized she hadn't given me her name. Her eyes widened as if, she had forgotten something.
"Oh! My goodness, I haven't introduced myself. I am Betty Fernandez." She rushed out and I could see her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. I laughed at her cuteness and waved her off, as to say that it was okay.
"Nice meeting you, Betty." I smiled with amusement. She was something else, wasn't she?
"Congratulation on filling in Mr. Beckman's shoes," her proclamation caught my attention.
"Mr. Beckman?" I inquired.
"The former personal secretary of Mr. Jedrick," she answered me in a 'duh' tone. Didn't Mr. Jedrick discuss him when I spied him at the strip club? I reminded myself. He was discussing his secretary with Helius, something about him being disloyal. Not to mention that he killed his former secretary.
"Why did he leave his job…I mean the pay was good here." I tried to gather more information because it could be something big that helps me collect evidence. Damn, I was feeling like a detective.
"I really don't know the exact reason, Mr. Sandros but it's like he disappeared all of a sudden. He didn't say anything to us, not even to Patricia. He is really close to her, it is weird." She frowned in confusion as if, she was solving the mystery of Pandora's box. Maybe, I could find something from this Patricia chic.
"Hmm…" I hummed in understanding. I definitely need to be in Betty's good books to unveil this mystery. The guy was his personal secretary after all, who knows maybe I could find some skeletons in his closet or… his office.
"Oh! Please call me Reynold, we are going to be colleagues after all." I told her with a friendly smile. I kind of felt guilty for using this poor girl but I had no choice, it was for the wellness of humanity.
I gathered my copies and left the room with a ' See you later '. My morning went on, with me studying the case file related to the tender my boss desperately worked to get his hands on.
**************
After lunch, I prepared the meeting room and arranged the files neatly in front of each chair. Today I was acquainted with a few of my colleagues during lunch. Unfortunately, I couldn't meet Patricia today since she was called for sick leave. My colleagues were nice to me but I could see some ladies giving the sting eye to the other ladies.
Thank, god! I was disguised as a man or else, I had to deal with some bitches. After making sure the meeting room was arranged properly, I made my way to my office. Today everyone was so busy due to the important meeting.
I also gathered that Ms. Knight's company was a rivalry to ours' and she was fighting against Mr. Jedrick to get her hands on Mr. Montgomery's tender.
It was already fifteen past two; I have the possibility to meet Arsenio since he was the bodyguard of Ms. Knight. I was scared that he would make a ruckus of my appearance.
I was so lost in my thoughts when suddenly the door to my office slammed open which made me startle with a shriek. Guess, who the culprit was? Oh, the joy of working for the devil.
"Mr. Jedrick, sir, do you need anything?" I stood up from my chair and walked closer to him. He was holding a ring of keys in his hand.
He didn't say anything to me. He sauntered closer to the safe which was located at the far end of my room and inserted the key into it. I stood beside him, I observed his stance and he looked a bit uptight. He was uptight most of the time but right now he looked…edgy?
He opened the case and looked for something in it, he was rampaging it as if, he was a wild animal. I was flabbergasted with the entire situation. He looked frustrated, his jaw was clenched. His eyes held the hellfire; he looked like he was going to kill someone. I gulped down at the sight of him. He looked scary, if the devil was real, he would have looked like him.
"Mr. Jedrick… do…" I started gently but was cut off by the sound of him punching the metal case.
"Bam!"
"Bam!!"
"Bam!!!"
"Tum!"
I squeaked like a scared mouse and my back bumped into the bookshelf. The metal door unhinged and fell to the floor with a loud clink. It was completely, annihilated but there was not a single scratch on his fist.
My eyes were wide, my heart was pounding painfully. My stomach dropped to the floor, how was this even possible, was he truly made out of a stone?
There was a deadly silence; he didn't utter a single word. I held my breath in trepidation. I stuck to the bookshelf as if, I was a lizard.
He suddenly turned towards me and slammed his arms above my head which made me shield my face with my arms. I whimpered pathetically and clenched my eyes shut, waiting for him to attack me but nothing came.
I slowly opened my eyes, letting my arms fall to my side, and strained my neck up. His face was extremely closer to me, observing me like a predator. His eyes softened at the terror in my eyes, I could feel his hot breath fanning on my cheek.
"Search for file 73," his voice was so low. It sounded deathly calm, a total contrast to how he behaved earlier. My doe-like eyes were still wide with shock.
"Every inch should be unveiled." I blinked my eyes thrice and whispered a 'yes, sir." With that, he was off me like wind and exited my office. I slumped to the floor in exhaustion with the turn of events. My heart was still beating so fast.
The file must be so important for him to react this way, I searched for it all over my office but I couldn't it. As the time passed, my stomach dropped with fright. My entire office was a mess, there was this familiar feeling of my nose itching and my eyes stinging. I felt like I was about to cry.
I slowly made my way to his office door, knocking it softly. I was so anxious and I started to fiddle with my fingers.
"Come in," his voice was cold. I entered his office and I didn't dare to look at his face. I could feel his intense gaze on me, my body tingles and my skin broke out with goosebumps.
"Err…sir, I…I…" I stuttered nervously.
"Spit it out, Mr. Sandros." He snapped at me impatiently, I gulped down the stubborn lodge that stuck in my throat.
"The file… it was not there," I whispered, looking down at my shoes. There was a pregnant pause I could see his fist turning pale hit hot rage. I was not sure of his face. Out of the blue, there was a knock at his door. He didn't respond either and I raised my head and looked at his face through my lashes.
He looked dazed, his face looked stoic. His eyes shifted to mine which made me take a step backward.
"Come in!" he yelled. The door clicked open and Nova entered his room.
"Sir, Ms. Knight was here." He informed us and looked at me with an unsure expression; probably he sensed the tense atmosphere.
"Very well,"
From the look on his face, I could say that things were not going to end well. He looked like a Satan from hell. He looked fierce, yet calm before the storm. He was hard to read, I had no idea what was going on in that head of his.
"Let's keep going, Mr. Sandros. Don't want to keep the guest waiting, now do we?" he asked with a sadistic smile that sends a cold shiver down my spine.
I shook my head at him and gathered my shit together. I walked beside him as we both made our way to the meeting room. He walked as if he was going to bring hell upon the person who was waiting in the meeting room.
Oh! Uh! Someone was in trouble.
