Damon intentionally delayed her, he didn't want her to go to his mother and Nessa couldn't exactly blame him. If her brother Adrian had a newfound love for Damon, then it's safe to say that Damon's mother had the same love towards her.
Because her attention was divided between Damon and his mother, her over-pampered princely boyfriend was beginning to get jealous.
"I'm sorry, I'm late, Mrs. Claire," Nessa apologized as soon as she made it to the hotel.
Mrs. Claire was standing right outside and it made her feel guilty - she made such a woman of great influence keep standing all thanks to Damon, her son.
"It's alright, my dear," Mrs. Claire smiled warmly at her, "And it's high time you started calling me Rita already. I believed we've gone past such formalities,"
