Chapter 49 - MESTO

Mesto: mournful, sad.

It was so obvious. By looking at his fangs only, even a kid could tell that he was a vampire. There are a lot of movies and tales about vampires, and it was normal that Zhou Yongliang could easily guess what creature he was after seeing his true form and behavior.

Yang Liu had expected the question. He knew that Zhou Yongliang would definitely ask for clarification from him.

"But, how come vampires still exist these days? I thought they were already extinct and only remained as legends, so I drew vampires as imaginary objects. Do you come from a vampire clan? Your entire family is also vampires?"

The human attacked him with a series of questions. The fear was still present on his face, but a hint of curiosity looked apparent as well.

The vampire sighed after he heard the question. 'It's a long story, Zhou Yongliang,' He lamented inwardly.

"You better go home now," Yang Liu ignored the questions as he didn't want to answer them.

Everything happened like a flash. He didn't even have the time to think for the answer. The tangled thread in his mind was too hard to be unraveled.

"I'm already here now, but you won't tell me anything?" Zhou Yongliang asked. The fear on his face faded for a bit. It was replaced by a questioning look.

Yang Liu was silent as he kept looking at the brown-haired boy. What happened tonight was unexpected for him. The innocent boy, who provoked Ren Weisheng on his first day at school, turned out to be a boy who found out his true identity in the end.

"Yes, I'm a vampire," Yang Liu answered as he lowered his head. His voice sounded deep and low, as if he tried to conceal the pain in his heart.

He could no longer face the other boy directly. He wasn't ready to see the boy's scared expression. Hwang Jihyuk was right. He wasn't the right person for Zhou Yongliang.

He got no response for a while. He dared himself to peek at the other boy, and found that the boy was still staring at him blankly. He couldn't read the boy's expression.

"It's... it's unbelievable," Zhou Yongliang replied weakly.

The weak reply made Yang Liu smiled bitterly. He was ready for rejection.

"You're scared of me, right? You want to run away, don't you? You can do it now. Just promise me that you won't tell anything to others, and I won't bother you ag―

"I'm not scared of you!"

Yang Liu was slightly taken aback when Zhou Yongliang suddenly cut his speech. His head automatically turned to the other boy again and his eyes widened in disbelief.

Zhou Yongliang was staring at him. Stern and firm. His heart skipped a beat when he saw the expression. He no longer saw the terrified expression on the boy's handsome face.

"It's hard, but I'm not afraid of you. You're not a bad person, Yang Liu. I trust you, and you can trust me."

His body froze when he heard Zhou Yongliang's tender words. He could tell that the other boy was saying the truth.

Not long after, Yang Liu sighed as he looked away from the other boy. "I'm a vampire, and that's the fact. I won't force you to stay with me," he whispered gloomily.

"You don't need to force me. I want to stay with you."

Again. Yang Liu looked up at the other boy once again. Their gazes locked for a few seconds as if they were trying to read the things hidden behind the orbs. Zhou Yongliang didn't shift his gaze away. He bravely challenged Yang Liu's bloody eyes.

Yang Liu lost. He was the first one who ended their eyes battle as he drew his gaze away.

"You want to know about my origin, right?" The vampire asked softly. "I will tell you the complete story, but not now. For now, I can only tell you that I was once a human. I was born a human, not a vampire."

The main point of the story that Yang Liu told him seemed to make Zhou Yongliang even more curious. But, it seemed that the boy was trying to suppress his curiosity and nodded. Maybe Yang Liu will need some time before he could tell him anything.

"You are very reckless, Zhou Yongliang." Suddenly, Yang Liu's voice broke the silence once again. The boy now leaned his back against the back of the sofa and closed his eyes. "You didn't know what consequences you would have when I sucked your blood, but you still volunteered. Stupid."

Zhou Yongliang also leaned his back on the back of the sofa. "Yes, I'm stupid because I just followed my heart."

Yang Liu's eyes slowly opened and he glanced at Zhou Yongliang's figure next to him. "You're still willing to help me even though my appearance is like a monster?"

Zhou Yongliang turned to Yang Liu. "You're not a monster, Yang Liu." He sighed. "I was very shocked when I saw your form earlier. My heart was even beating very fast, but the fear slowly disappeared when I looked into your eyes. I saw the sadness and the pain in your eyes. The looks in your eyes hurt me as well."

It was Yang Liu's turn to sigh heavily. "I'm pathetic and full of wounds."

Now, Zhou Yongliang straightened up again to face Yang Liu. He ventured to hold Yang Liu's hands as he said, "Can I be a medicine for your wound, Yang Liu?"
