Chapter 8 - DIFFERENT WORLDS...

Yeon explains to Shin-joo that Ji-ah must be one of the rare people like shamans who are immune to his powers. Shin-joo was frustrated that he just let Ji-ah go and restored her sight, but Yeon asserts rules are rules. Despite Shin-joo's concerns, Yeon assures him he's accustomed to seeing those with Ah-eum's face by now.

-------

At her home, Ji-ah watches an old home video of her with her parents. She goes to turn off the TV after it finishes, but her parents are suddenly staring straight at the camera . Her mother holds something out, dropping it through the TV. It lands at Ji-ah's feet. She picks it up and screams to find a skull in her hands. Jia wakes with a jolt...huff she was dreaming but that dream stucked to her head...

At the Afterlife Immigration Office, Hyun Eui-ong briefs the newest deceased souls on afterlife procedure through a powerpoint presentation. Pfft, He explains that his wife is the sister of King Yeomra (ruler of the underworld) and goes on to detail Hell.

Later, Yeon visits Taluipa, suspecting that Ah-eum has already been reincarnated.

"Grandma..."

"Whom are u calling grandma huh?! I am only some hundreds years old than you"

"Doesn't matters.... Is Ah-eum reincarnated?"

Her silence answered enough. He wanted to find her, but Taluipa reminded him she could look like anyone as reincarnation is a process where only one's soul is the same , the physical features like face, age, gender could differ...

Yeon didn't seem to care what Ah-eum looks like or even what her gender is now. He only hopes she's young enough they'll have many years together...

--------

While Ji-ah commiserates with her colleagues over their unpleasant dreams, Jae-hwan exclaims that he saw their colleague sae-rom wearing black and crying, ( people is korea wear black at someone's funeral) and she remembers the previous night.

Taluipa warns Yeon

"Meeting Ah-eum again will mess up your destiny, and not only yours but several other people's also , you will not only risk your life but thousands of lives are dependent on your destiny"

but he didn't seem to care.

He tells Taluipa he won't be back for a while and asks for her help resolving something....

Ji-ah gets a text from Yeon asking for her parents' info like where and when, where they born, their age , when they died and so on, she goes to meet him that afternoon at his regular hunt Snail Bride.

The lady owner of the restaurant pleasingly teases Yeon for inviting a woman for lunch. Before they even started lunch he dropped a bomb: her parents weren't registered as dead. Ji-ah almost choked on her water and she sat stunned with tears in her eyes and hugs him by surprise when she thanks him.

She's now determined to find them. No one believed her before that they could be alive. Ji-ah apologizes sincerely for injecting him with an anesthetic, surprising him again.

Yeon regards her carefully as she says she won't ask him to understand.

"I do understand,"

he replied calmly, he was looking down his eyes carried such warm and tender feeling that Ji-ah couldn't help but subconsciously smile.

-----------

At his clinic, Shin-joo had a conversation with a sick dog to diagnose its stomach problem. Shin-joo had a white pendant through which he could have a conversation with animals.

Meanwhile, Ji-ah couldn't hold herself back from asking Yeon questions over their meal. ''Are there other gumiho disguised as humans?''

"Yes..they are all over the city living their lives"

She was steady asking questions as they walk out.

''What about historical figures rumored to be gumiho?''

''Are there other creatures too?''

Yeon responds there are creatures she can't even imagine. The owner smiles listening to their conversation as they pay.

-----------

At Ji-ah's office, TEAM LEADER CHOI tries to convince his team to eat at Snail Bride, and writer KIM SAE-ROM teases him about having feelings for the owner. As they prepare to head out, Sae-rom gets a call saying her mom just died. Jae-hwan stares in shock as he recalls his dream with Sae-rom wearing black and crying.

----------------

Outside, Yeon tells Ji-ah that their 'relationship' is finished. They live in different worlds, and he doesn't have the time to go traipsing around with her. He cautions her that most who chase the supernatural end up crazy or dead. Ji-ah grabs his sleeve desperately, promising not to bother him. "Just don't disappear on me."

They both intensely stare at each other, suddenly a phone call interrupts their long stare. Jae-wan informed her about Sae-rom's mom and his bad dream . After Ji-ah explains the situation, Yeon concludes that her and her colleagues are dealing with an infectious nightmare.

"Do you really want to see the world I live in?"

--------

At Ji-ah's office, she asks her office's security guard to help her look for some equipment in one of the locked studios.

Once inside, Ji-ah intentionally drops a fistful of coins on the ground. The guard's eyes turn golden and his skin looks like it's burning from the inside.

In pain, he drops to the ground and begins eating the coins. . He advances on the horrified Ji-ah... to kill her , but Yeon appears out of nowhere and slams into him.

As they fight, it was clear that Yeon has the upper hand. He moves so quickly , he was a blur, his attacks sharp and precise. After Yeon knocks him around a bit, he transforms his umbrella into a sword, and points it to that guard.

This wasn't the first time Yeon had to deal with him. That man pleaded with Yeon, swearing he hasn't done anything wrong. He changed his tune when Yeon raises the sword to strike and he admits Rang told him to come there and eat his fill.

Ji-ah was watching in fascination and asked what the man is. Yeon replied that he is a bulgasari, a creature that feeds on nightmares. Eating metal reveal their identity. The bulgasari takes advantage of Yeon's distraction and scuttles up the wall like a demented crab.

He scurried around the scaffolding and dropped behind Ji-ah, holding her hostage. Yeon sarcasticly ask Ji-ah what she can possibly do right now other than get in his way. She grasps for an answer, but he replies for her: she can do nothing...

Yeon knocked the bulgasari out with some coin missiles. He walks up to the shaken Ji-ah and warns her to stay in her world. After all she's just a human.

Elsewhere ,

Out on a fishing boat, a group of fishermen discover a skull. They recognize the deceased from one of the teeth which is outlined in metal.

Hearing the news, Ji-ah rushes to meet Detective Baek about the remains, making him worry that, she's still looking for her parents. He admits they've identified the skull.

........

By the water, the fishermen who found the skull were watching a woman cry for her father. And as the woman continues to cry Rang reaches there to offer her comfort, which is absolutely not a good sign.

.......

At home, Yeon ruminates on Rang's taunts about the rumor and how Ji-ah will die if Yeon can't find Ah-eum by the following month. He opens his freezer to grab a drink where the bulsagari is shivering.

''Where is Rang?''

Yeon coldly asks.

The bulgasari is terrified to give Rang up, but he decides he's more scared of Yeon.

Yeon shows up at the meeting, the bulgasari arranged with Rang, and the brothers exchange unpleasantries.

"Oh ..so you are here for your 'dead girlfriend'...is it? Why don't you guess if she is alive or not"

Yeon was still indifferent and calm.

"aren't you a little too happy to kill Ji-ah?"

"Ooh ..so my 'brother' found a new girlfriend, what will you do if I hurt her?!"
