After getting no reply from him, Somya puffed and complained, "You are too bad. Here, I am requesting you for an entire day, but still, you are not buying my pleas. I am very hurt."
She crossed her hands over her chests and turned to walk in a different direction. Varun knew she was only throwing tantrums. But he doesn't want her to be angry as she worked hard to make him sing.
Somya was walking towards a stall when she heard a familiar yet unfamiliar voice behind her.
~I don't know why but girls
Are not like boys
They think a lot
They understand less
Their heart says something
And they do something else~
Somya turned, only to find Varun coming towards her with a guitar in his hands while singing. Her mouth agape at his skills. He was too good at singing. He was smiling so sexily as well.
"I mean, you are all the same girl"
Varun reached to her and put his elbow on her shoulder, and started mimicking her.
"We are good friends
But I haven't seen you from that angle
All that is alright
But I haven't thought about it."
~She will tell you that you're unique
And she will come close to you
After a few days itself
She won't find anything unique in you
She comes closer to change you
She puts a trap to erase you
With her conversations
She will trap you
First, she will make you laugh
Then she will make you cry a lot~
Hearing his words, Somya pouted and removed his elbow from his and continues
~Hey, if you're happy with yourself
Then why do you come behind me
Sometimes flowers and thousands of gifts
Why do you bring them~
She mimics him too-
"You didn't tell me your name
Wanna go out for a coffee
Should I drop you home
When will you meet me next"
~ Scattered and meaningless
Is your broken life
And you say that you're different
Openly and being bold
She teaches you manners
She makes you human from an animal
Even a moment with her
You won't survive
She knows that
You won't be able to say that
That's why girls
Are not like boys~
Everyone applause as the song ends. Somya and Varun, who had a glaring battle while singing, were now beaming at each other.
"You turn out to be a singer, beauty!" Somya gleams at Varun.
"Thank you," he said, still grinning. Music used to be his passion in his college days. After so many years, playing a guitar made him feel wonderful.
"So, how come you sing so well but still pretended so hard that you can't?"
"Hmm, I stopped singing a few years back."
"Is your life finished? You are talking as if you are already dead. It's never late to start something new or restart something old."
Varun grins at her and says genuinely, "Thank you."
"As long as you are happy."
After that, Somya and Varun had a meal together, and Somya paid the bills. They get back to her home in his car.
"'It was a great day. I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you for spending time with me,' You should say this to me. But as a good friend, I don't mind," said Somya, patting herself.
Varun laughed at her, showing his teeth.
"Bye Bunny," he started his car's engine.
After Somya gets into her room, she decides to sleep. But her mom came into her room.
"What is it, mum?"
"I want you to wake up early tomorrow."
"But it's Sunday tomorrow," said Somya weakly.
"I have work for you, so get up early," after ordering Somya, Mrs. Sharma went back to the kitchen.
Somya thought about the work her mother wants her to do, but then she dropped the thought. She gets up to change quickly and then went to sleep.
Early In The Morning
Somya woke up very early today. No, she didn't get up by herself. Her mom woke her up.
"Mom! What's this? I wanna sleep more." Somya whined while raising the blanket above her head.
"Get up if you don't want to bathe on your bed," Mrs. Sharma ordered.
"....." Somya played dead.
"Are you a kid? Who wants to sleep till late? Get up!" shouted Mrs. Sharma.
"Mom, I will wake up at 7 'o'clock, that's not late. Let me sleep now. It's only 5 a.m."
After fighting with her mom for so long, Somya's sleep was already gone. So she sighed and dragged her sleepy self to the bathroom.
She was murmuring curses on those TV shows that are spoiling elders every day. She thought that it must be a TV show which fed her mom that it's good to wake up early in the morning. So her mother applied it today. It always happens in her house. Be it a home remedy or a yoga practice, her mother follows them for one day but soon feels bored and drops it.
When she was done the washing up, she came out of the bathroom only to find her mom sitting on her bed.
"Why are you here, mom? Look, I even washed up and bathed. I can't go to sleep now," although she is saying this, she originally planned to sleep after breakfast as it's her mom's principle that as long as you are bathed and had breakfast, you can sleep. So her mom won't be stopping her.
"Come here. I want to talk to you a bit." Her mom had a solemn expression on her face.
"What happened? Is something wrong, mum?" Somya asked earnestly.
"No, nothing serious. I have good news for you. Ansh and his family are going to visit our house today. So, I want you to wear this," Mrs. Sharma said while placing a silk saree* in her hands.
Somya eyes widened in shock. She understands very well what her mother was trying to do. The Dixit Family is obviously coming to her house for her and Ansh's marriage. She is definitely going to be the scapegoat.
"No, mom! I...," but before Somya can say something else, her mom's eyes became sharp, and she said harshly, "Either you are coming down wearing this, or you are going to see your mother dead by tonight."
