ALEX
They say an alarm only rings as long as you set a timer, but the alarm bells in Nairobi were ringing and everyone could hear it, though no one had set the alarms. It seemed as if the great city was finally about to bend to someone's will, but then whose will was it?
Who was going to take responsibility for the alarm when they didn't even know shit about what the alarm was for? The city was still excited about the return of Alex and his girlfriend. They were happy and still in awe, wondering what the duo had been up to in the past two years.
No matter how hard the explanations came, everyone wanted to know more. Kinda like they figured there was more to the city's tycoon disappearing and reappearing only to stay as far as possible from the company he had dedicated his youth to.
None of that made sense, but then again, nothing about Alexander garner screamed sense. Maybe the love he had for the woman who would ruin him without so much as a second thought. But that was life, right?
This evening Alex and Ryan had decided to go have fun after a long week and it was rightfully deserved. The boys have been trying to catch the vigilantes while still running the company, even though Alex was doing that from the sidelines.
His relationship with Jia had started dwindling, maybe because the girl had finally realized that Alex's heart belonged to Lia or maybe because she didn't want to be one the receiving end of her sister's wrath.
Hopefully, it was the first because that would determine a lot of things along the way. The evening had been beautiful, with the women in the bar at their beck and call as did very fucker that had the 'rich' stamp on their forehead.
"bro, I think you need to stop looking for the vigilantes. We are past that phase and going after them will only mean reopening new wounds. Besides, Lexi had us murder them all. All of them who had remained. It was kinda fun though.
Point is, you got a second chance at life, live it brother, stop unearthing shit that will only make you be miles away from closure." Ryan said to Alex who was ordering another drink, possibly his fifth drink of the night.
"I have to see for myself. I know this whole cycle doesn't make sense, but I need to know my life will be peaceful. I don't really care about the vigilantes actually. What I need to know is who ordered the hit. The vigilantes were clearly hired guns.
They'll be of no use to me honestly. But the person whose hand was on the trigger. That's the person I'm looking for. I need to know brother" Alex said to ran who was just starting to see sense.
If Alex knew who was calling the shots, then he would be ready for any attack and know whether he could fix the mess so they would live peaceful lives or if this was about something else.
"that kinda makes sense, but brother, all this fiasco will ruin our family. We can't keep losing people. I can't go through the same thing I did when Dylan died. That shit messed me up. I can't even look at someone else without thinking about the love of my life.
It never gets easy and I can't lose other people too" Alex looked at his best friend, worried about him, worried that maybe Ryan had finally given up. But then again, he had loved his boyfriend so much.
Anyone in their circle could tell that, but it had only pushed him to the wall. Dylan was undoubtedly the best thing that ever happened to his friend. Ryan had changed a lot since he fell in love with the boy on TV since he found love in an outgoing witty man who wouldn't take shit from him without putting him in his place.
He had fallen in love with the man that made him smile no matter how tense the situation was and while their gestures on live TV made Alex cringe, he was happy for his friend, because he understood that love could make even stones cry.
He knew that love was the only thing that made their lives better and he was always going to hope and pray that it was all better for them.
"I just remembered, how the fuck didn't we know that Jill and Carlito were siblings? I mean we were like family even before all this. I just find it weird, especially with the way Carlito never knows when to shut up.
Surely even Dylan could have told you about it, no? Or Carlito could have told me about it" Alex asked as he didn't quite understand how the fuck shit just changed so much in a few years.
Or was there a sibling he also didn't know about?
He wanted to know how the changes in the universe were coming along because nothing about this was making sense. Of all the things that could have happened, of all the mysteries that could have seen light – that wasn't even a mystery.
No one in their right mind could ever pin Jillian James and Carlos coach to have been brothers. Everything was just fucked up and it wasn't making any sense. This kind of shit kept him balanced despite being heavily drunk.
A drunk Alexander, just like any drunk had the tendency to be truthful and that's how Ryan knew that he really didn't understand how that shit happened. But Alexander was not alone in this. Everyone else had wondered, and the siblings never really offered an explanation.
Besides they looked like polar opposites and they were crazy, almost hated each other's guts. This could only mean that they were truly siblings because anyone who knew both Jill and Carlito knew they were the most fucked up crazy people in the world.
Heaven bless the woman who bore them? Fuck no. But he wasn't about to curse an innocent woman either.
"I don't know man, but those two are among the worst of their worlds, for them to agree on being siblings, that's some fucked up shit, but at least it's believable," Ryan said as he took a sip of the alcohol? Wine? Beer? He really had no idea what he was taking at this point because they were drunk shitless.
They continued partying nonetheless, completely unaware of the storm that had reached their doors and was about to bring their worlds upside down.
As the brothers drank themselves into oblivion that night, the internet was on fire with the new fact that had been released.
